To all those asking for those CONSOLE characters, remember the collection only has ARCADE PORTS. Evil Ryu even though the thumbnail for some had it was never in the arcade versions of Alpha 3. To those confused about the "start" button on the Switch, the - button is the "start" button. SO far Classic Chun in alpha 2 for example, you hold - for 5 seconds and press any kick or punch.
Alpha 3 Upper (pretty much what the console ports took from) did technically get arcade releases, in Japan tho. It ran on the Naomi Hardware board compared to the CPS2 board, but it still was an arcade game as well.
i agree with your last point, that they could have added the home versions in on top. but many played on arcade versions for years and years and they perform better than the console counterparts - they are a standard and that's what many of us are looking for... that they emulate the tournament standard. they are not inferior; you might like that Zero 3 Upper added more character and removed infinites, but not everyone is into that. it probably wasn't as popular, too, because it came out in 2001, a time when people would have moved on to new marvel games, new street fighter games. more does not always mean better, and neither does patching - nobody serious about SFIII3s likes the second version of the third strike arcade. They knew what they were doing when they selected these arcade boards - for example, we were talking on another video about how they didn't use the "World 940223" version of Super Turbo, they used USA; this might be because they knew we'd want to experience what we experienced in this country, or because they didn't want some of the bugs. but i do agree about extra versions, it would be amazing to have this combined with alpha anthology. fuck it, throw in rainbow edition (never would happen). btw alpha 2 gold was never an arcade, was it? always a home port
OK cool, wasn't sure if Z2A did in fact have an arcade port, and I see that it does. As far as "shouldn't remain broken," keep in mind that broken is a very subjective word, and it's not just a matter of people being used to things - specifically when it comes to the competitive ones, gameplay and community were built on their specific quirks. As a non-SF example, Marvel vs Capcom 2, while hugely broken, is known as the game where high-level competition only exists in a handful of characters...but it's extraordinarily entertaining and a very difficult game to master. If you were to "balance" that game, you'd be erasing the experience and expectation so many people have - not just "someone's" familiarity. It wouldn't necessarily be an improved game or better experience if they actually made shitty characters viable; on a casual level, you can still enjoy the full roster (go nuts with Amingo or whatever) I do agree that they could have also included the console versions, though. It would be super cool to hover over A3 and have the option to slide down to A3 Upper or MAX. Now knowing that Z2A had an arcade version, I do think they could have included that one, too. I guess my point is that we have to leave those arcade originals in place and at the forefront. They're the versions where games run and look the best, and they represent the arcade culture from which these games' popularity was born. Totally with you on why you purchased the game - and for me, it also means I get easy access to a 3S training mode on my PC, which I've never had before.
When the PS1 era arrived, once you unlocked a character, they are saved permanently on the memory card so you didn't have to go through all that ridiculous procedures to access them every time you want to use them.
I remember back in the day, I was able to pick Evil Ryu in Street Fighter Alpha 2 by mistake. The thing is I couldn't decide whether I want to pick Ryu or Akuma so I kept moving the cursor between them. Then when I did decided to pick Ryu one of my pal accidentally bump the START button on the arcade machine and I was able to pick Evil Ryu which I never knew was him until Alpha 3 came along.
*Calil BFR* Can't be Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha, it was an arcade machine, it didn't have an orange select screen and in Zero 2 Alpha if you press START at Ryu you get classic Ryu instead of Evil Ryu so can't be that. To get Evil Ryu in Zero 2 Alpha you have to press START twice at Ryu. Also in the version I play, Evil Ryu doesn't shoot the Red Hadouken unlike how he does in Zero 2 Alpha.
To get akuma -> ryu or ken can be highlighted from start but has to end with who you started with. Hightlight ryu count 6 secs -> highlight thawk count 6 secs -> highlight guile count 6 secs -> highlight cammy count 6 secs ->highlight ryu count 5 secs but press start and lp+mp+hp at the same time in rapid succession on the 5th second. You should see ryu turn into akuma. If your doing this on the switch the minus is your start button.
Tony Starks 100 percent and its not easy took me a while to get it. I did this on the switch btw but it works on arcade version as well. Theres a timing to it. So you have to move to each character quickly and highlight the specific characters mentioned if your to slow then the game will register you highlighting other characters.
Fun fact: in Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection, you can turn the game's input lag off. To do that, first, you go online, and you go to the online options and select the input lag option and set the input lag from 3 to zero.
@@saulvanderlinde6569 Go to my TH-cam channel. I did a video tutorial video about how to turn off Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection's input lag.
Too bad Capcom didn't add Hyper Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha 2 GOLD, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, and Final Fight as a DLC pack to the collection.
There's actually a better version for Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Capcom did Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX for the PSP (or Street Fighter Alpha 3 Double Upper in Japan) this is the definitive version of Alpha 3.
Akuma is almost impossible to unlock in the Switch port of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo using a PRO controller or the joycons and I was able to unlock him every time on the Xbox 360 version of that game (and I´m not talking about HD Remix where you didn´t need any code).
SF alpha 3 max on PSP was epic. Just goes to show u when capcom puts love into there games it shows. This version feels like a cash grab to me! The input is way off.

I’m doing it EXACTLY as described and no. Akuma isn’t showing up in SSFII Turbo or SF Alpha. Ugh. What could I be doing wrong? Used to do it in the arcades all the time back in the day...
No. But instead of being a jack of all trades. It took most of the home ports and added modes that even the originals didn't have. Fortunately, I am not really interested in the non 3 main series games. I think the main bother is that aside from playing online officially, you can grab all of these games somewhere else. Whereas alpha anthology let you make your own colors, cheat, have dramatic battle, survival, hyper fighting, and even had the better versions of some games be unlocked. like upper, and I think alpha 2 gold.
The interface is wonky as fuck. Like, when you finish a local vs match, if you choose not to rematch, you're forced all the way back out to the game selection screen. That's just stupid. There's no way to map 3p or 3k to one button. There's no Alpha2G or 3Max. And if this is supossed to be a celebration of Streetfighter, this should have been executed waaaay better.
They're all based on their arcade versions so you unfortunately can't play as Shin Akuma but at least you can fight AGAINST him if you can fulfill certain conditions
I miss secret button combinations. Games aren't the same anymore even though I love my newly updated highly graphical games they just don't seem as fun anymore.
DO you know what's going on with the arcade mode and the added characters from the console versions to the arcade port of SF alpha anthology? (meaning Dee Jay, Fei Long, T Hawk, Guile etc.). I have read, that there is a code with which, those characters with Juli, Juni, Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu can become available for battling against them in arcade mode), BUT ONLY FOR STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 UPPER VERSION!! I would like to know, if in the ps1 version of the game (where Dee Jay, T.Hawk and Fei Long are available from the beggining), can anyone battle against them in arcade mode? I have played many hours SFA3 in ps1 as a kid, but it has been many years from then, so I can't remember if I came across those specific characters in the arcade mode.

I'm having trouble with using Super Turbo Akuma in the Switch version. I don't know if there's an ideal button configuration or what, (the default control scheme, where heavy punch is L and start is Minus, clearly isn't suited for unlocking him), but I haven't been able to pull it off.
Follow direction on how to move the cursor through the characters, when stopping for that particular character count to 3 then move to the next one and repeat. Once you got back to Ryu again count to 3 then quickly do a quick save using the game's save feature and trying pressing all 3 punch buttons. If it still doesn't work count longer and try again. Also remember the START button he's referring to is the arcade START button, not the actual START (+) button on the controller as that is the menu button. The START button refer to the button you assign START to in the controller configuration and it's that button that would allow you to play the game and lets you play as the weaker version of Akuma.
In street fighter II turbo when you get akuma do you have to win those fights? I’m asking because I use akuma but I’m bad at II and just wanna play with friends.
Street Fighter 2 got a remake on Nintendo Switch (titled Ultra Street Fighter 2: the Final Challengers). I wonder why the first Street Fighter game did not get a remake where all of those characters are playable. Did the computer players in the first game had so much that the controller could not handle, did they go off the stat for an unfair advantage, or what? At least, it's good that we got a better remake of Street Fighter 2, but it would have been better to add Gouken, because he was in the second movie. Did Akuma ever appear in the TV series of Street Fighter 2? He was not in the second movie.
so there is no console with sfa3upper online play? or sfa3 home or max online? I'm not including PSP I know it has online play (but i do ask can you even play that online still? and can you do it on ps3?)

I tried to get to my from super Street fighter 2 turbo but it didn't work
What’s the start button on PS4? The touch pad?
This version of Super Turbo is too hard to pick Akuma no matter if you have the right input.
If you use the in-game save feature, it's actually very simple.
Mash all three punch buttons after you hit START for a greater chance.
On SF Collection for ps1, you could pick him by pressing L1 and R1.
Where's shin akuma 😫
Love arcade ports but I wish I had a3 guile :/
How do you play as t hawk in street fighter alpha 3?

I just wish Capcom releases USFII as a DLC to the 30th yrs collection. I want that Violent Ken to play with!
It's the Switch's exclusive
TheScrubMaster64 that they'll release on other consoles if this version has a good selling for switch. At least, that's what I've been reading.
What is LP MP and HP
I simply don’t get it
Light punch, medium punch, heavy punch
This collection is beyond pathetic and a blatant disregard to the prestige the SF franchise has earned throughout the decades.
