    Wow, only 20 days of training & you ran a 2:02....very impressive! I am looking to run my 1st ever half marathon in April. Just haven't signed up yet lol.

      Thanks so much! There is no way I would have been able to do this myself, the adrenaline of everyone running with you and the people cheering makes it so fun! Omg that is so exciting! It’s such a great accomplishment and I am sure you will do great!

    omg this is so cool! i'm trying to psyche myself up to do the oak bay 10k this year so i've been watching lots of running content, i clicked on this video not even knowing you were in victoria but recognized thetis right away! this was so motivating, congrats you totally crushed it!!

    Omg you crushed it Jenna! Congrats on your first half marathon! :) you're actually one of the few people who have inspired me to start spinning on Peloton (got a spin bike recently)

    That's great! I ran my first a year ago at 54 and it took me 2h16 minutes and I trained way more than you did. Congrats!

    A terrific achievement, congratulations... a PB👍 until your 2nd one. 😁
    I've run lots of races but the water - drinking "ah, I'm drowning!" feeling is still a problem. Best solution is a bottle with the built in straw, that works pretty well.
    Gels? I'm not a fan, I don't use them. But what do I know? If I want some energy I'll have something I enjoy. Sweets, a bar of something... but stuff that doesn't melt or is too sticky. I'll worry about protein / vitamins before and after a race.
    Of course - as 99% of us do on our runs, particularly the first - going out too fast is a' thing'. You still managed a terrific performance, well done.

      You explained the water drinking problem perfectly 😂 that’s so true the only problem is I don’t know if I would like to carry my own water bottle. I guess if I train with one of those waist band water bottle holders, I would get used to it eventually!
      Yeah I am not sure how I feel about the gels. I like them for hiking, but in the middle of a run it was not a fun thing to try and eat haha a treat instead is a great idea!

      I had the same drinking-problem... for the last few races I carried a long piece of a drinking straw with me (large diameter and not the whole straw). it weights nearly nothing, you can put it under the bracelet of your watch or in your pocket. For me it's much easier to drink with this solution & I don't have to carry bottles with me. Maybe it works for you, too 🙂 (sorry for the bad englisch)

    Hey Jena! Congrats on your first half marathon!! You crushed it. Next time, try eating your gel and taking a sip of water with it. I find it much easier to take them that way. Hope that helps! Keep at it :)

    If you ever run another Half marathon or longer, would definitely recommend trying a few different energy gels. I really like eating chews instead during training, but find them challenging to eat during a harder effort like a race. For races, Maurten Gel 100 is by far the best I've tried. It has no flavour, and is like a hydrophobic type gel, where it doesn't stick to your mouth at all, so you can barley tell its in your mouth basically, makes them really easy to consume during a harder effort in comparison to other brands

    New to running more of a rock climber but signed up for a 4mile race here in nyc 40 days out starting small and goal is to do a full marathon but step by step. I do ruck races times to times but idk feel like it’s different a bit and never train for ruck races now im serious about training for running but your time is amazing its so crazy congrats keep it up

    Nice job for your first Half-marathon and considering your training was interrupted. With how far back from the start you were maybe you even got under 2 hours or very close with your chip time.
    You’ll break 2 hours next time and pull smash it if you do a proper training plan!
