    I am glad you recognized the flaws with that hinge! I had the Y50 and the hinges were terrible! It sucks to see Lenovo repeating their mistakes. Kudos to you for bringing it up.

    I just purchased this laptop for $300. I travel every few months for about 3 days at a time and just wanted something to game on and surf the web. I was blown away by the sound and I've had no issues so far. Amazing used deals out there for this.

    This is the best laptop review i have seen so far. The way you have explained both inside (upgrade options) and outer details covered almost everything about the laptop. I haven't seen any review who gives all details in a single video.

    I just got this laptop and I love it! It's great for gaming on the go while still maintaining a decent performance at high graphics and cooling. It might not be the best gaming laptop out there on the market, but I got this for $650. It's affordable and good at the same time! And nice review, Dave!

    This review is what convinced me to buy this laptop, I got it about a year ago, and still love it! (it is my first gaming laptop) It is great for an on the go, affordable gaming laptop. I play games like Total War on medium or custom settings with somethings on high pretty well. I also can play NBA 2k18 on pretty much all high settings on a slightly lower resolution, or all medium settings with texture on high with 1080. Which is perfect for a casual gamer like me. Perhaps, when I get out of college I will upgrade, but it is great for my situation!

    Great video Dave, i agree with everything you say. I had a Lenovo Y40 and it could only play games on low/medium. It struggle on high/ultra, Lenovo Y700 GTX 960M is the way to go. But Lenovo Y900 is coming with GTX 980M, btw the CPU is not U this time. It's Intel 6th Gen HQ

    Hey Dave I got a quick tip for you on those soft touch surfaces. Rubbing a suede/nubuck eraser on the surface will restore the rubbery felling. I tried it before and it works like a charm. Just avoid doing it too often or else you'll rub off the entire material.

    Hey dave, amazing video! Just wanna point out that @ 2:13 you're saying it's the 6700u dual core processor when it is in fact the much more powerfull i7 -6700hq quad core that really in this laptop. This is a pretty big deal because it is one of the very very few quad core 14" or less laptop. Cheers.

    The Razer Blade Stealth is the one to look forward to...

    • @NakedChicken69
      @NakedChicken69 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah the dual core that maxes out at 3 ghz is a joke for gaming. Get an acer v15 nitro(same price as stealth with a 960m and 6700hq!!) or xps 15, they both have thunder bolt 3 and will work with the core.

    • @justinkeathley8448
      @justinkeathley8448 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Luke V Why get something with a dedicated GPU already in order to use with the core though? It just seems like a waste of money to me. The point of the core was to get an ultrabook with good battery life to be able to double as a gaming laptop. Not to mention that something like the nitro (which I happily own) runs games fine on its own :)

    • @NakedChicken69
      @NakedChicken69 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Keathley with the acer its faster and cheaper, the dell is nicer, has great battery and powerful. Maybe to uses while traveling and dock at home?

    • @justinkeathley8448
      @justinkeathley8448 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luke V I guess that's true, although I feel like neither of them come close to that form factor + gaming power combo. But to each his own.

    I have this in 14". I think it is the best value you get in a 14" size with a quad core i7-6700HQ processor . I upgraded the ram to 16GB and added a 500GB SSD. Total price ~$900 = $699 for the Y700 + $168 for a 500 GB SSD (a MUST) and $40 for ram upgrade! It is now super fast! I actually think it can take 32GB ram if you want it. I'm not heavy gamer, so I have the M375 with 2GB video DDR5 ram. I play fine new titles! Only critism is the the mouse track pad buttons are a little hard to click.

  • @PratyushDesai976
    @PratyushDesai976 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Dave, you videos are really great to watch sometimes again too due to the ay you make em.
    I think I've requested this before and don't want to keep harping but I won't relent till you let us know it is coming soon.
    Could you do the 1080p matte MSI GS60 6qe.
    Its a crazy beast in a really thin shell.. but not without some issues. You covered some 970m laptops like the really expensive Razer blade and bulkier Alienware.
    But nvme ssd, i7 skylake , ddr4 ram and a 970m at 2.02 kgs is insane. Also the crucial components stay way cooler than with such computers. Id really like to see your take on this.
    Thanks

    @MyInstantSearch 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Dave, You're awesome! I like your thoughts and your recommendations are amazing. So, I want to buy a new laptop. The things which I'm gonna be doing are: 1st- Video Editing (Adobe After Effects & Premiere) and I'll be working with 1080p footage and I want the preview to be very smooth and really fast rendering because I am also a youtuber so it's obvious that I edit a lot of videos , you can understand! 2nd- I do all casual stuffs like I use Photoshop and illustrator more often and also do 3D things, I work on Dreamweaver for web development and designing. 3rd- It is the last thing which I do and it is- GAMING basically I don't play games that much but I do, I want to play all latest games :p So, after watching your lots of videos, I have decided to buy HP Pavilion 15 AB210TX which has Intel Core i7(Skylake- 6500U- Dual Core CPU), Full HD Screen, 8 gigs of ram and 1 TB of HDD because I am on a tight budget that's why I have decided to get this one. My concern is that can I do all those things which I have mentioned above? Will it worth buying? and after buying it:
    I also want do expand the RAM to 16gb because you say that if you have around 16 gigs of RAM it can handle your computer nicely and Most impotently Can I expand the HDD from 1tb to 2tb and Can I install SSD because you say SSD is must so if I can do all these things then please, tell which which 2tb hdd, SSD and 16gb RAM should I buy? Share the links if you can :)
    Thanks,
    Aditya

    As always appreciate the review. Quick question... did you happen to get your hands on the 15 inch versions, just didnt review it here? I have that one now, and I took the screws off to get inside the internals, but I got really nervous since the back plate doesn't exactly pop off the back. Did you have to do some wriggling to remove this version? I would assume that they would be fairly similar. Thanks.

    Hi Dave, please make a review of the y700 15.6" and compare it with this one (advantages of each one of them).
    Thanks.

    I just bought this laptop recently and wanted to add another 8GB RAM to it. When removing the bottom cover I noticed that 2 of the 11 screws were completely stripped. I am now waiting for a stripped screw extractor kit to come in from Amazon to take out these screws, but this problem really pissed me off. I'm thinking Lenovo put these screws intentionally.................

    Just found this channel. Great vids I've seen so far, Dave. What laptop would you currently recommend for playing skyrim below 15 inches out there today? Seems like this is a great option, just wish it was a 960. I currently have an XPS 13 9350 and I love the size but it's just not capable of any real gaming

    I'm looking at the same laptop, but it has a 4 core i5 6300hq and a 4gb r9 m375 (And a 128gb ssd) that costs $700. How well will it run battlefield 1? Can it run it at 900p medium settings with 60fps?

    Laws of physics didnt stop my MSI GE40 from having 6 hours of battery life using web and office, and this laptop was released 3 years ago.
