Being talked to like they care about what we think about game mechanics goes a long way. "Hey, here's what we're doing, here's how we were feelin' it" feels like good communication. They've definitely got my attention for the next one.
As someone who dead ass downloaded and played League because of jinx, it's not the "I can fix her thing". I don't want to fix her. She's perfect the way she is.
Im thinking of fake future grand finals matches now. Frosty Faustings 2028 is when Apologyman's Fiddlesticks gets burst baited by a Lulu player born in 2014
I remember thinking Project L was going to be SF with a LoL paintjob after the initial gameplay reveal. Fast forward to today and it looks more GG than GG now does. Ahri even does something that looks like a FRC.
Man the ones saying "I can fix her" is the Cannon brothers looking over at BBTAG and MVCI with how this game is developing. And I'll be damned, I think they might actually be able to.
The interactivity of assists is pretty nutty (ex. Jinx throwing her trap and Ekko tagging in and hitting it at Darius). Like if they maintain this consistent quality with their entire roster, the player expression and variety is going to be interesting. Looking forward to how the game develops for sure!
I was not interested in this before last year. And it was 100% their attitude that caught my attention. The way they are talking to us as the prospective players is great. I agree it should be more frequent, but the same energy is great. And the thought that it might be free to play makes me think I could get a lot of people to "just try it".
I'm pretty sure it was confirmed to be Free to Play from the past update. The only games thay are pay to play are single players games. But everything in house like LoL, Valorant, TFT, and LoR are completely f2p.
@@Martin-yh7vi The single player games are developed by indie studios, not by Riot themselves. Riot also has confirmed F2P for Project L, and also did the math and (not set in stone, just team sentiment + math + riot sentiment rn) confirmed free to play for Project MMO, which is going to be done in like 5 years XDD
looks like it could end up extremely expressive and rewarding, the burst and tag system they got could make the dopamine drip go crazy. Really interested to see how the game will work/change when your inactive character is down. Feeling cautious because you gotta be with fgs but they're making it very hard not to keep it in your brain, even at this phase.
Love how they're not afraid of showing the game as being "complex". Sure there's no motion inputs but you've got advanced movements, what looks like a robust tag system, burst (showing a bad burst was a hype move from the devs to be honest), defensive mecanics with push block. Looks like it will be a fun game to learn. When it comes out.
I would've never imagined I'd be more hyped for the mf League game than I ever was for Strive. Granted, that's not a very high bar, but this looks pretty cool so far.
I still don't think I'm sold on this game yet even though they've seemingly got a good head on their shoulders; I'm still interested in this game doing well, if only if it might force the hand of JP devs to step it up in regards to adding features Project L is bound to/confirmed to have like ragequit penalties, wifi indicators etc. that it's shocking other devs still can't get right
Well as a loyal consumer of riot games for 12 yrs... I say they do this kinda videos explaining the upcoming contents/major contents that will happen in 6 months (like champion roadmap, major in game event, or upcoming skinline)
This is giving me MvC3 vibes. The original MvC3 drew in so many new people to try out the game. The shitty part was, that after U/MvC3 fell off there was no other game these people wanted to jump to and zero netplay to keep people playing. The best part about MvC3 was it gave people tons of tools and freedom to make them feel out a vision to play the game. I remember getting hit with the some fucked up shit that people came up with through their own lab and play time. Even if the game ended up in aDoom/Vergil Vergil/Strider ZMC meta, during the first several years people got to flex their creativity and style. I'm sure that's what Project L wants to do but also have a support system to keep the game alive for years to come(netcode, lobbies, content release, skins, regular updates, etc).
I've been trying to keep my expectations reasonable because I'm a huge fan of league and fighting games. However, seeing this dev blog i'm so excited for the game. Now that we have an idea of a lot of the mechanics it looks like it's shaping up to be an awesome game. I really can't wait for it to drop. Also I like the ways that they keep the essence of the champions kit in terms of league, while still integrating them into how a fighting game plays.
Amazing point on the burst mechanics. The excitement comes from knowing that you might get your shit rocked if you burst at the wrong time. Otherwise it's a get out of jail free card.
No doubt the game is going to be popular, but don't know what makes people think Project L is going to be this huge shift in fighting games that draws all the non-fighting game players in. It being a Marvel-esque team game with assists is already a barrier to entry that most people aren't going to mess with.
I do agree there should be a little more updates but this approach is absolutely great. Being able to see my girl Illaoi with a moveset makes me happier than the average arcsys trailer. Also I gotta respect the dev team specifically Tom for asking everyone to support your locals
I've really liked what I've seen gameplay wise and while it is easy to learn hard to master, this game has more than enough options in terms of movement, defence, offence and assists to keep the game interesting, name a easy to learn hard to master fighting game with this amount of options, i bet it doesn't exist. I also love how transparent the devs have been with us, yes the updates are slow but these updates are WAY better than the Developer Backyard blogs we get for Strive. When we get a Project L update, it's in the form of a video, they show us gameplay and explain to us what they plan and hope for in the future. Maybe after the game is out updates will be more frequent, probably for additional patches and characters but for now i don't mind getting a update on this game every 3 to 5 months
I don't think they were as upfront about the game being "Free to Play" until now, so I feel that's a pretty big deal. This model could really change things in the fighting game space.
I feel like people been saying that since KI in 2013 and we're really only seeing that come to fruition now w shit like this, multiversus, and to a smaller extent rumbleverse
The combos and movement already have me pretty excited. Even if it looks a little floaty now, I think they already nailed the satisfying feeling of getting a hit. Looks promising
Dude everything looks fucking hype. You got your burst, your auto combo, your techs, it's like they took everything that the fgc loves and hates and slammed that shit together. I can't wait, my god the plays are going to be NUTTY.
I really enjoy how they’ve got tags and assists working so far, looks like there’s already a lot of ways to leverage the core mechanics which is really cool to see. It was probably just a teabag, but it definitely looked like the player either inputted a down down motion or a double qcf
I really need to see how the monetization shakes out. Otherwise I'm definitely interested, though I don't usually like tag stuff. Free to play makes it easy to check out at least!
Im still really curious about the cooldowns and stuff on specials and how that will affect the flow overall it seems like if they are too slow to come back the game will also slow down to accommodate
I'm gonna need a whole youtube series on the lore of this series, because I don't know jack ish about League of Legends. This game looks interesting though.
looks alright, reminds me of cross tekken just because of the tag system. not too excited about the game but will definitely try it when its out mostly cuz the devs behind it and its free
Tag mechanics look closer to BBTAG. Multiple assists, tag in mid-assist, and your tag partner bursting you out of a combo (or getting baiting and punished for it) all look very much like BBTAG.
i appreciate the positive outlook, Im a league hater myself but the game looks too solid to ignore, im just hoping i get to play characters i played back in the day.
I really like what I see again, im really interested to see this games take on some of my favorite characters and how there translate to fighting game form and how some specify things carry over. I hope they dont compensate on cool idea's for character's gamplay. what i mean by that is, i hope they're able to make the characters as cool as and deep as they want them to be without them maybe wanting to limit them because the game has a design philosphy of keeping things a bit easier.

Interesting to see the BBTAG influence. I still think Riot's approach to F2P has a huge risk killing the hype, though.
