      😊Thank you so much. This helps me believe, once and for all, that film really can look amazing on a low budget with minimal gear. It just takes a good eye for creativity and planning. Many thanks! Any tips on how you're shooting your ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure, etc. for the dark scenes on the Sony FX3?

    Also I actually loved the seed's scene. The kid is struggling with his identity as a ball player and he's frustrated with himself. I loved the discomfort resulting from seeing him spit on his reflection. It is a critical scene for connecting with his struggle and creating tension. Nice work!

    Danny, KEEP THESE COMING!
    I can not stress enough how rare this level of production / breakdown is to find on TH-cam. Because of the nature of the platform, most creators tend to target solely beginning / aspiring creatives, possibly because it gets more views faster. Solely for context, I’ve been growing my freelance media company for the past 7 years and I recently DP/directed a couple of global commercial campaigns. Needless to say, thank you for touching on the higher level topics. You are touching on the things that truly matter, pre pro, budgets, etc. Cheers to finding your niche and creating a solid lane for yourself. I’m excited to see what you do with the channel.

    I love this breakdown and I love how beautifully this was shot. The only thing I disagree with is the "little kids don't do things that make sense" line, I feel like they really do. While reactions to things may be exaggerated in a child, their actions do serve purpose and this allows us as adults to be invested in their development in the story. Having them do things that really don't make sense disconnects us from the story. Thinking back to childhood I think that we can all find justifications for our actions no matter how arbitrary they may seem to us now, from simple curiosity to immature anger and I think that is a far more interesting rabbit hole to delve into.

    • @greggh
      @greggh ปีที่แล้ว

      But it did make sense. Pro players are always sitting on the bench eating and spitting sunflower seeds. Buying the seeds and trying to spit them showed he wanted to be like them. To one day be a pro. Maybe Danny knew this on a subconscious level. Or maybe his intern came up with the idea and didn't explain the reason clearly to him.

  • @mattsmith6558
    @mattsmith6558 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Danny. These breakdowns are super insightful, honest and useful. One thing, you haven’t touched on much is how your spec commercials deliver for the brands they’ve been created for. Where do you see them fitting in as part of a wider campaign? What would the strap line be? Who is the target audience? What is it trying to achieve/sell? We can wax lyrical about composition, transitions, sound design and a cool narrative. But what’s it all in service of for the brand you’re representing? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

  • @bryancavellier8957
    @bryancavellier8957 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I laughed at the "spitting seeds scene" after you said it "isnt suppose to make sense, because he is a kid". Then I thought about all the dumb ways I reacted to thigs as a kid and went "oh... yeah..." lol

    These are my favorite videos that you make: here's something awesome (shows you know what you're talking about), here's how I did it. Thanks for these! Super informative and helpful.

    Danny you know you're like a gem, i mean i want you to be successful and i wish may you have many subscribes that you deserve, but at the same time i don't want everyone to know about you as well. I know I'm being selfish but yes. Please do more videos like how you do the editing and shooting.
