    I recently did another interview with Ferry, this time we did focus on his Gouryella project. In this 30 minute interview Ferry tells about how he and Tiësto met, how the first Gouryella track "Gouryella" was born, more about Gouryella tracks such as "Ligaya", "Anahera" and of course the brand new Gouryella track "Surga". Plus you'll hear more about the System F live shows, his UNITY project, Stillpoint and more! Don't miss this one, uploaded it yesterday! Enjoy!

      Yeah very fascinating this really was a golden era, 98-2001 for trance will never be touched for endless quality.
      Just a question was the jp8000 used by all the trance djs of that era ? Or was the jv1080 used just as much ??
      What was the most used for lush trance pads ??

    It's completely impossible to describe to anyone who wasn't around in 98/99 what it was like to hear this track for the first time. It was history. I remember the moment like it was yesterday. The club lost it. No phones, no Instagram, no Brexit, no hard times - just a sea of people in total ecstasy, lost in a moment they will never forget. I miss those days but I'm very grateful I got to experience them so thank you Ferry for creating something that defined an era and made all our lives richer for it.

      Same for me. My friend went to uk as a exchange student. When she came back after a year she had a mixtape with diffirent tunes from that year. Out of the blue was one them. Fell in love and rest is history! My first big party was at new years 2000. Had a few wild years going parties after parties.. met my fiance and We had a daughter in 2004. Still together and one of my dreams came true few years ago when ferry came to Helsinki and last november when he was here the last time my friend and I ( who introduced out of the blue to me).. and when the song came we just cried and laughed.

    I'd gotten into clubbing around 1998 so I had bought a few compilations. I randomly bought this single from HMV and slotted it inside my 90's Aiwa stereo with beautiful red and green LED's. What I heard just blew me away and I didn't know it at the time but I had just had my first taste of Trance 99. The sheer amount of AAA titles that year was incredible and it's a moment in time that will always stay with me.

    I've heard him say it before, and I agree with how he descibes the System F album(s) as a party album, and "party" is synonymous with "energy"; similarly the Flashover Mix sound. (Perhaps a new FC System F Champions?) But there are a few more emotional tracks sprinkled in there. Insolation, Savannah, The Sonnet, were some of my favorites, and it was great to hear some of those melodies reincarnated under Gouryella.
    The Unity thing sounds like a great idea. I'm expecting big collabs with top names akin to NewWorldPunx but trancier! I look forward to that announcement next week.
    I like the color blue question; I too feel the same with Blue which usually comes organically to me.

    Fantastic interview! You do a really great job Twan. I love the story behind it. When Ferry played at Hyperstate 1999 in Oslo he was named System F and not Ferry Corsten, only because of Out Of The Blue. The set from Hyperstate 1999 is still on soundcloud somewhere, and I also have it on a cd in my car. Banging trance set.
    I remember when I was part of a duo called Solution Of Strings and we sent off a cdr to Purple Eye in 2001 or 2002, hoping for a letter back from Ferry himself. Never heard anything, but the track got picked up by Michael Splint and Ozgur Can and got played on radio, but never got any release. That track still haunts me today, as I wanted sooo bad to get a release on vinyl. Still is my dream.

      Thanks for the nice comment! I think back in the day everything was way more exciting and mysterious, these days with the internet almost everything (and all background info) is available to the masses straight away already. I miss the times of not knowing what track a certain DJ was playing for months and then finally finding out what it was and who was behind it. Damn, I'm old! :P

    I kind of always assumed that after his remix of William Orbit's treatment of Barber's Adagio, that it was his way of saying: "I don't want to just be famous for that remix, so here's an original that's just as powerful."

    • @muzikxpress
      @muzikxpress  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charles Somerset That remix was done in 1999, while he already finished “Out Of The Blue” back in 1998.

    • @charlessomerset9754
      @charlessomerset9754 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@muzikxpress that makes sense, considering that he used the exact same instrumentation for the Adagio, and also that Out of the Blue was probably how William Orbit found him. Thanks for the info. Man, I love what you're doing. Being a producer, I can't get enough of these interviews. Basically all the tracks that were early influences.

      @@muzikxpress Thanks for these. Especially the Gouryella interview. Made my Sunday. The one I would love to hear about is the back story behind Sasha's Xpander. Or Digweed's Heaven Scent, to continue the theme. I'm sure it's a question of artist accessibility and of course your time, but those are two that I think any old school clubber would love to hear about. Much love and respect. Keep doing what you're doing.
