    I really hope they change the announcer voice and closing door chime to match the rest of the system . Makes no sense if it’s different

    AYO THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDS LIKE O TRAIN LINE 1 FROM OTTAWA!

    Very impressed to see this LRT develop. It doesn't get much attention compared to its older sibling Line 5, but it sure looks just as nice, if not nicer, than Line 5!

    Wrong door chime, that’s from OC Transpo.

    Bruh I didn't expect this lrv to have Ottawa's OC Transpo's door chime 😮

    interesting to hear that both the door chime & announcements are the same as line 1 in ottawa! wonder if they'll update the chime at least to reflect the ttc 3 tone

      Yeah I'm not sure, but it's cool to hear the announcements!

      I'm hoping they are able to change the tone and the voice to match the rest of the network. It would be incredibly jarring for this one line to sound completely different from the rest of the subway, streetcars, and buses.

    Will the trains be limited to just one LRV, or can they attach multiple LRV units together like they do on Line 5?

    • @transitthinker
      @transitthinker  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Multiple LRV's can physically be coupled together but the platform lengths are too short for them to operate in pairs

    • @stinkyroadhog1347
      @stinkyroadhog1347 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Presently, the plan is to simply run one car trains but they can expand should the capacity demand for it but first they would have to expand the platforms. This is unlike line 5 where the plan is to run 2 car trains but the stations are built for a possible future expansion to 3 car trains

      @@transitthinker why didn't they future proof it?

      Citadis Spirit has been coupled 4 LRVs together before, but not in regular service.

    • @lvalledor3440
      @lvalledor3440 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the Line 5 platforms are already designed for 3-car trainsets. The Alstom Citadis Spirit lrvs are already longer than the 60 ft Novabus Artics but if Line 6 needs more than 1 car chances are it'll be only 2-car trainsets max especially considering Line 6 is only going from Keele Street in the east to Hwy 27 in the West unlike Line 5 where its almost 75% of Eglinton in Toronto from Kennedy to Mt. Dennis & soon almost 95% of Eglinton in Toronto into Renforth Station

    Do you know if these will be able to run as 2 car sets? Seems a bit tight at Driftwood.

    • @transitthinker
      @transitthinker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The platforms are only designed for 1 train sets, but in theory the platforms could be extended to allow for 2-car sets if needed

      So, if ttc keeps the O-Train chimes and/or announcements, does that mean that line 5 will have the same announcements as the ION lrt followed by a French tts voice?

    • @isaacwilliams4761
      @isaacwilliams4761 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Iloveemirates-UAE-EK Maybe they could change the door chime that may have the same as Toronto Subway Rocket vehicles

    The ttc should stop labeling this as "Light rail". These are trams, and at same quality as most of Europe.

    • @metropolitantransit7276
      @metropolitantransit7276 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      But the difference between light rail and trams are the use as rapid transit and trams being high capacity buses. In fact, trams are called trams, light rail is called premetro or metrotram in some European countries. If you look at the design and the purpose of the line, it is light rail and not tram.

    • @stephen9609
      @stephen9609 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is there an exact definition of Light Rail or Tram? In some countries they run "light rail" vehicles underground and consider that their "Metro" system (ex. that was the case when I lived in Lille). We often throw around terms like "subway" or "tram" without having an exact definition. Is the Eglinton Crosstown a subway because it travels underground for 10km? In some countries they would say yes

    • @metropolitantransit7276
      @metropolitantransit7276 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is light rail with rapid transit infrastructure and tram-like (but not exactly tram) rolling stock. Tram is a bus on rails carrying more people than a traditional bus.

    • @mlmielke
      @mlmielke ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Stephen It's a tram-train, which is a tram that is higher capacity light rail, which is more than just a tram. Yes, it can also even reach metro potential capacity with the right setups.
