I love LEGO and love chess and never really got into Harry Potter BUT this set is so much better than LEGO’s “Iconic Chess Set” because of the ratio of the base of the pieces to the square on the board. In the iconic chess set the pieces are too squished and it makes it hard to actually play a game while the spacing here is so much better.
Having the older chessboard I really like how this isn't elevated, and how it doesn't use jumper pieces to tack on the pieces which can make play a bit difficult unlike a real chessboard. Looks to be roughly 32x32 which if true a baseplate could be attached beneath for added durability.

Iconic Chess set is better for display since all the pieces are connected to the board and you can carry this set around
