  • Today's video, Adam and I clear brush and small trees using the Stihl FS240 Brushcutter with a 9" carbide tooth blade. The trail was overgrown and not used in years. But with a little work, we now have a nice place to hike, ride ATVs, hunt, etc. The brush cutter did an amazing job.

    Sorry but i work in the forest... You don't seam more then a beginner with this... Idk about other skills but this is definitely not your strong side...

      No reason to be sorry, you are 100% correct. I am absolutely a beginner with this. This video was one of the first times I ever used this tool. So yeah, definitely not my strong side. But that's okay with me. This is not a "how to" video with me claiming to be an expert. Doing stuff like this is a hobby and fun for me, so I was just sharing a fun video for me. Thanks for watching!

      I don't use it very often, but I do love it. I always used loopers too. Now the kids use those and keep things clean for the most part. Thanks for watching!

    Try putting a Forester blade on that bad boy. It will take half the time and a whole lot easier cutting through any kind of thick brush.

    • @NorthForkHollow
      @NorthForkHollow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bought this blade based on a Project Farm video that I watched where he tested them. It performed better than the Forrester blade. I'm quite happy with it. Thanks for watching.

    Good video, thanks. My newly minted 3 year old son just told me that you don't have your helmet on, haha. I got him a forestry helmet for Christmas and he looks forward to the day when he can cut trees down in the woods with me. He told me the other day he's going to cut all the trees down as soon as he's old enough to use a chainsaw, but I had to explain that we only cut the dead or broken ones. He gets it now 😂

    Beautiful country you’re sporting there👌🏼 😥Whew! It’s funny how I could listen to a saw for hours, but the blade on the brush trimmer😬 I had to turn the volume down on that, kind of a ‘Fingernails/Chalkboard’ effect🤔🤪. Well, you two appear to make for an effective crew💪🏼 nice work out there!

    I came to verify if your trimmer head made the same noise as mine lol I just bought FS 240R, and attached the forester Chainsaw blade to it. Absolute monster. I noticed noise when the blade slows down as if it was catching, but I guess its normal.

    I was thinking originally to get a DR push behind brush cutter but after further investigation i think one of these handle bar type brush cutters will actually be a better choice for my needs. comparing both Husquarna and Stihl models. i wish i could try both out before purchasing but i think either one will be fine. for larger trees trees I just use my silky katanaboy saw ( i can usually plow through 20-30 trees < 10" diameter in a day). Do you have any recommendations for cutting down the smallish sapling/tree stumps left behind ? trying to get them as close to ground level as i can or else some of them can leave pretty sharp ends that could take out my ATV tires

    • @NorthForkHollow
      @NorthForkHollow  ปีที่แล้ว

      My Stihl has been flawless, but I'm sure Husky is good too. I can usually get the stumps within and inch or so of the ground, and that doesn't seem to cause any issues with my ATV tires. Thanks for watching!

    • @NorthForkHollow
      @NorthForkHollow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure I want to switch blades. I really like the one I have on there. I've watched some reviews of the Forrester blade and just wasn't as impressed. Maybe I should just get one and do a comparison. Thanks for the suggestion.

    • @Milfmilker-gd6gm

    • @NorthForkHollow
      @NorthForkHollow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can resharpen the Forrester blade. But I think the carbide teeth blades cut faster and better. Though I haven't tested both.
