The defense can't carry a team all year, while the offense lags ass! The defense didn't show up for 1 game, while the offense hasn't shown up all year!
Georgia rearranged its o-line and simultaneously fixed our problems and broke the Tennessee defensive plan. I'm not sure there's much Tennessee's coaches could have done to prepare for that.
36:48 That's the problem. Hyatt winning the Biletnikoff award shift UT. UT has upgraded its QB situation to land 5-star NICO but the Vols still have 3-star Squirrel White, Bru McCoy, etc. Tennessee must recruit and get out of the transfer portal no less than 4 stars. UT must also tell fan favorites to hit the program because they've reached their ceilings. UT has a very real chance of being 10-2 twice in 3 years. Recruiting is the next step.
If Tennessee does not get into the CFP this season, it'll be the 2nd time within the last three seasons Tennessee got left out of the CFP not because they lost to Georgia but because they lost to an unranked foe on the road when they had no business losing to them. In 2022, Tennessee loses to unranked South Carolina in Columbia and in 2024 Tennessee lost to unranked Arkansas in Fayetteville.
True, but that’s not so uncommon. Bama lost to Vandy. Ole Miss lost to Kentucky. In the SEC, I think we all need to drop the term “no business losing to.” It’s a mini-NFL. Just my take. Thanks for watching.
Marlon is absolutely correct. There is absolutely no creativity with the offense. Heuple is suppose to be an “offensive genius”. I love coach but he has got to adjust, change, evolve or scheme this offense to help Nico and a struggling O-line. Got to get better. Heuple needs to be more like Steve Spurrier…a killer mindset of scoring every single time we have the ball. Penalties stifle this offense. Need more discipline also.
Yall are making this way to difficult. You don’t need hardly any help to get in. 11-1 Indiana is getting left out. Also, Notre Dame could lose and they would be out. Why would we want Bama to keep winning? If they get a 3rd loss they are out. We ONLY need one of those things to happen and we make the playoffs.
I think Georgia and other teams like Alabama are getable. Because the transfer portal keeps those teams from loading up with bench players that will get paid by the ole miss Vanderbilt, South Carolina etc
Sorry, I forgot to add this comment about you guys saying that we didn't pressure Carson Beck all game. We did pressure him once and he took off and ran right into the end zone for a TD.
Because of social media.... everything's extreme now. I'm damn proud of the way that we played. I love this show because it's not shocked TH-cam or tv. Love the show and love the Big Orange
As an official you are suppose to call what you see. Not what you think you see. You either saw the defender grab the facemask to dislodge the helmet or you did not. Video says they did not. Call what you see.
The way you end flopping is if a player Is helped off the field or stops play with an injury? HE SETS NOT ALLOWED BACK IN Game for the rest of drive & the next drive! If he pretends injury. Treat him like an injury! He sets no questions asked
Mississippi Woke Georgia up! Just like 22! We jumped Them to #1. This year 2-loss dogs & a third @ night. their season over! They alike backs to the wall.
45;42 There's no Big 10 bias. The SEC has lost to unranked teams: Alabama (Vanderbilt); Tennessee (Arkansas); LSU (Florida) and Ole Miss (Kentucky). These unranked losses ding you in the polls. The Big 10 has lost to ranked teams: Ohio State (Oregon) and Penn State (Ohio State). That's why there are 4 Big 10 teams in the top 5.
Hey John. I always watch your show and look forward to it every week. I don't always agree with you, however. I am glad you compared Joe Milton's stats from last year to Nico's. But if you look even a bit deeper on those stats, Joe's are better. AND, all everyone could do last year is complain about Joe. I think we owe Joe an apology. All I hear this year about Nico are excuses that he is young and he'll get better. I don't really see a lot of improvement during the course of the season. I wrote a comment a few weeks ago and compared him to Manning at Texas and you chastised me about Manning having the best supporting cast in the country. I don't really think that is true but Nico's supporting cast is better than Joe's was last year. And, I'll offer one more comparison of a freshman quarterback for this year. Lannoris Sellers at South Carolina has steadily improved during the course of the year and I would say his improvement has elevated the play of his supporting cast. I hope Nico turns into Superman next year but so far I am unimpressed - don't know if that is talent, coaching, etc. It does seem to me that our coaching staff is unable to make adjustments at half time when we play on the road (maybe they leave their notes at home). And my last comment is that when we have the most to play for, we play our worst.
What I saw was Beck getting rid of the ball very quickly to quick slant and crossing routes while Nico was slow to throw the ball most of the time throwing to receivers as coverage was catching up rather than when the receiver was breaking open. But keep drinking that Nico koolaid and we'll play more patsy teams and act like we are truely a 10 and 2 team. Besides Huepel not being able to see that his QB isn't getting the job done he has shown that after a 10 point lead he gets too conservative with the play calling. I also didn't see any changes in the 2nd half on our part. Our Defensive line wasn't the problem. Beck simply got rid of the ball quick. ANd since GA couldn't run the ball our secondary, which isn't as deep as our line, got gassed in the latter part of the game. If he's gong to stick with Nico at least coach him up. He's got to throw the ball as the reciever breaks open and not wait until the d-back closes the gap. He's got to stay in the pocket and when he does scramble stop out running his protection. When he leaves the pocket he loses all focus. OHHH and teach Nico to stop starring his targets down... He's 6.6 and everybody on the field can see where he is looking... Peripheral vision and move the eyes and not so much the head. QUESTION... Is Nico sometimes holding the ball in his left hand as he prepares to throw...?
We will keep drinking that Nico Koolaid because even a fool that knows ball can see as a freshmen QB playing in the SEC can see he’s improving every game and will be really good as the years go on.
@@NicholasRaper Keep passing that buck on to the next year and you'll always have something to look forward to. I'd prefer to win games in the here and now. Nico is Guarantano 2.0. I thought Milton was a bad QB but he actually produced more offense than Nico.
There were WR open it’s just Nico didn’t keep his eyes down field when he was scrambling. Or when Nico didn’t have to scramble Nico gets out of the pocket way too early.
I agree that the sec is as close as you can come to the NFL. The sec coupled with the fanatical support of its boosters will always be a cut above almost every other conference on average. There will always be your outliers however, the sec is where the power is going to stay I think for the foreseeable future
Mediocrity and the curse of falling apart, Tennessee luck out in 98, we need to quit hopping for better days we has better team in 22, now is been all down hill. I guess we need a mediocrity team, and maybe this is as good as it’s gets, at least we won more than 8 games.
I don’t think the coaches suck, but I do think they’re not good enough to win it all. We’ve seen two seasons now where they can’t coach up a qb to run the offense. Nico is a redshirt freshman but he was in the system all season last year and played enough to be better than he is this year. So the way I see it we have spent $20 million on a head coach and a flashy high school qb to be just about as vanilla and lame as we were last year with a known dud at qb. Typical vols football, been watching since we barely beat the dawgs in 96 when we should have smoked them by 20. It’s just Tennessee football, doesn’t matter who the coaches or players are the vols just choke and suck it up when they shouldn’t
Tennessee will be in the playoffs. Florida will easily beat ole miss in Gainesville. That eliminates ole miss and Notre Dame has to play at Southern California maybe a loss for the Irish. If bama makes sec title game they will lose to Texas and finish with 3 losses. That eliminates them.
The Irish aren't losing to a .500 team in USC. That's just crazy talk. When has Florida 'easily' beaten anyone since Hot dog Billy Napier has been coach? Texas beats Bama 2 years in a row? Talk about reaching. This sounds like a post written by a child for his old man who had too much to drink...and you get the teams winning wrong.
Might as well just enjoy basketball and baseball season. Under Heupel we'll lose road games and drop one to Georgia at home. Blown golden opportunities to make the playoffs in the last 3 seasons
The defense can't carry a team all year, while the offense lags ass! The defense didn't show up for 1 game, while the offense hasn't shown up all year!
Carson Beck should love Tn. We saved his college career! No PRESSURE! What was on the coaches minds?
My exact take from the game.. Glad someone else saw what I did. No Pressure

Vandy is gonna be a struggle. Pavia has been a far better QB than Beck or Nico this season, and we can't stop the pass.

Love the show guys. Disappointing game but we're a heck of a lot better than what we were for 2 decades. Lot of good stuff coming our way.
Thank you for addressing WRs and OL play.
Marlon made fine points about Mike Matthews.

Mississippi Woke Georgia up! Just like 22! We jumped Them to #1. This year 2-loss dogs & a third @ night. their season over! They alike backs to the wall.
Tennessees defense line was awful getting too the quarterback. Screw the playoffs we don't deserve it.
Not sure we don’t deserve to be in a 12 team playoff compared to some that will be there but we are second tier, if that makes sense.
Then how does this team get up for Vanderbilt

Agreed. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes the other team is ranked higher. It doesn’t mean “bias” is somehow involved. Thanks for watching!
My eye popping issue is - 0 points in the second half. that is so bad even against a good defense.
