I think youre find that between 1974-1979 the economy grew by 1.9% per year on average and unemployment never exceeded 1.6 million. I also dont remember seeing homeless people in Southern towns like you did from the 80s onwards i guess its just perpespective
I guess Im randomly asking but does someone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Yehuda Jayce i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@@CaradhrasAiguo49Maybe what David attempted to hypothesize was the result based on the opinion polls conducted before the election, not the exit poll itself. I don't think David would like to leak the exit poll result because he said he doesn't like exit polls due to his experience in 1992.
You lot arguing the toss about who did what - sod off. I'm watching this just to see how much better the coverage was in 1997. The only criticism of any election coverage should be anything to do with Jeremy Vine!
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, though a hard loyal party member, Labour has been quite weak with regard ending the time bomb economics that the Tories used to get rich quick. My real concern is what they will do if in the next election they win, they will "let the market sort itself out" and "mass unemployment will be a small price to pay to lower inflation" and people who want a job should "get on their bike". Thatcher was a tyrant with leaderships skills, Cameron is a tyrant without.
if the Tories had won in 1997 there would be no minimum wage, it would be illegal to openly speak of homosexuality positively in schools and Scotland and Wales would not have the powers to govern themselves that they do today. I am not a Labour voter but Labour at least stand nearer to what I believe is morally right than the Tories do.
WELCOME ... TO INTERNET EXPLORER 1997!
Peter Snow seemed in his element with his Swingometer lol

Arthur is a great song and the best version was the 97 one.

@Bronson Josue Instablaster ;)

@Yehuda Jayce It worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Bronson Josue no problem xD
Why can't they release a series of box sets of the full coverage for each election?
Great idea
I love the painted smile at 9:30.
Turnout was only 72% in Sedgefield, not 82%.
“could be”
beautiful
The Conservative Party had suffered huge defeats of 1832, 1906, 1945, 1997 and 2001.
And 2020.
James Richard Jeremy Clarkson-Hammond-May polls say orherwise
2005 is always big defeat
Yotam Petel majority of 80 was substantial
2024 too! In fact this was the biggest one of them all! 500 Seats for Labour!
Frank skinner in a chopper, how 90s lol
What we know now scares me, the Tories will take power again, Cameron will drag s into the abyss.
It's all over now, time for Britain to be rebuilt under Labour.
Very prophetic, the complete rebuild beings now
I'm 32, and I've never had a brian. Do they sell them at Kwik Save?
David you're not supposed to hint at the result until the polls close at 10pm.
A Labour victory was 99.9% probable tbh
@@Mr_Storm_22 I know but the BBC is supposed to be impartial.
@@stevebbuk that's very true, just don't ask Martine Croxall
0:53 he said "if the OPINION polls through this CAMPAIGN are borne out", aka already publicised information

(5:43) Done it? You may very well think that, I couldn't possibly comment.
Cameraman a bit confused about zoom at 1:33.
I think the Tories are in for a big shock. They are going to win but I think they will be lucky to get single figure majority of even that.
where did the tremolo thing go D:
Damn Blair looks hella young. Wha happun?
Why do they almost always find a sporting style theme for this style of programming?.
@angliaknightident what socialism? New Labour isn't particularly socialist.
I want this version of Rick Wakeman's "Arthur" :D!
@shadowcatphaser For a while I turned comments off because of this.
Not really, DC could hang on for another year and hold one in 2011. I do not see a tory landside anywhere! its more like the 1992 election!
Anyone from 2021 ?
Election 97/Arthur by Rick Wakeman
Major wasnt even that old yet he looked it.
Other than his gray hair, Major looked quite youthful.

Less than 48 hours until the destiny of the United Kingdom becomes clear.
That exit poll was way out, as well as '87 and '92. Labour actually had 43%, John Major got 31%, the Lib Dems 17%, the others 9%.
It predicted as well " Tony Blair to be Prime Minister and landslide likely" and guess what both of those things happened
Labour's greatest night.
THE greatest night.
Hey, you're right - HE DID! ;-(
Must've gotten stressed over the years ;)

1st May 97 was a very bad day
lol
Yes it was. Just compare the quality of life for the British people in 1979 and again in 1997. Lets hope the Tories can do the same again
hahaha! your comment is too vague to possibly even take seriously. oh and i'm sure the country is in the state its in due to feminism! haha, good one.
