I planned to quit teaching after 6 years. I was forced to stay for two terms due to contractual reasons and I honestly thought I was done with it. I uploaded a Cv to link’d in and I was approached by a number of Dubai schools and decided why not. This is how I found your channel. I’m actually grateful for my school keeping me as long as it did as it made me fall back in love with the job. All the pressures didn’t matter as much anymore and I’m actually looking forward to starting somewhere new. Ironically I also thought of quitting TH-cam as I also have a channel. Again I walked away from it and remembered why I enjoyed it so much so I’m back into it. Sometimes stepping away can really help remind you why you started and enjoyed that thing in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It was lovely to listen to.
As a teacher, I feel the challenges everyday, but having a supportive team and a school that are considering workload does help! 👍

Every word you mentioned is true about teaching. We need to find ways to keep us popped up in teaching else burnout gets too closer. WALLE- :)
Look forward to see your videos that can suggest ways to cut down the burnout process.

Teachers are also leaving in the US. Interestingly enough, the UK is trying to recruit American teachers! I taught 18 years in the classroom before getting an out of classroom teaching position where I work one on one with kids. It made all the difference. Before that, I did not have a life. Now I do. I miss things about classroom teaching but it was time.

teaching in the uk is incredibly wearing and stressful. looking over the past 6 years i can honestly say they've been the most trying and arduous of my life. What a shame. It should be a valued profession however all that happens is people see it for what it is and stay away/burn out. Unless its your calling and you go the degree route at uni. I would avoid. Sorry its such a sad state off affairs.

I’m a support staff at a HS in the U.S. Here are there several reasons why teachers are quitting here. One is the huge disrespect from the students, they just don’t care anymore.
Some students just don’t pay attention in class and don’t do their homework and some just skip class during the day and security has to go and get them and take them to class. Another reason is the ridiculous stuff that the district office wants the teachers to do. I’m glad I am not a teacher. Some would retire at age 55 but they would be taking a BIG cut in their retirement; unless they delay retirement.

I honestly wish I could quit teaching and retrain. You’re just underpaid and overworked . Just can’t do my very best job , because there’s so many added extras . 90 % of the job is menial admin tasks, which I hate and didn’t sign up for . There’s also a lot of head teachers who are just power hungry narcissists, who want you to do all the work and they take the credit . I have worked for some incredible ones mind , who I’ll never forget and highly respect .
Tbh , I loved to find out how many teachers on anti-depressants just to be able to cope with doing the job .
Thomas I think teachers have so much more rights in the UK , compared to other countries too .

From what I've seen and experienced, i'd never want to work as a teacher in the UK even though I might need to in order to work in other countries. I don't know if there's a way to do it without having to move back to Blighty. I prefer working in Spain as the lifestyle and education system is "softer" to a certain degree, no major behavioural issues to deal with, no ones carrying knives and it's so safe. It's just that salaries are really low that's why I'm exploring my options.

It's because they are hiring probationary teachers who are guaranteed a job for at least a year. They don't need to advertise these.

The biggest reason for quitting teaching is unrealistic expectations of low IQ students whose vocational training is being entirely neglected so far as I could tell in recent decades. So the question remains that if I can tell the bottom third of the class is going nowhere academically how come the authorities are totally oblivious on that count? So color me gone. And then doing TH-cam videos you’d just be opening a giant can of worms with all the ultra negativistic rants which would be inflicted on you in the comments section some of which have to be suppressed. And if you don’t catch on with the public you won’t make any money either.
