    • @JohnGotts
      @JohnGotts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn't one lake lowering decision. It was mismanagement by the hydro power company over many years. If producing electricity with a dam is no longer economically feasible and the owner is losing money, that doesn't mean the dam owner has permission to stop maintaining the dam. It has to be maintained at any cost. In this case, the hydro power company is clearly at fault. It should not have purchased the dams thinking they would pay for themselves. Small hydro projects like this no longer make any sense. The best solution for many dams nowadays is to let the water go back to its natural state. In this case, it looks like the lakes are being converted into a recreation area of sorts. Hopefully the financial benefits from recreation will eventually pay back the $100 million taxpayer bill.

    Hi Jordan, awesome work!
    The O-steam shovel (not sure that is correct? The 1910(?) shovel that was recovered in your other video) had a 3/4yard bucket. What size of bucket are on those Hyundai 's?
    Cost wise, what was the dollar value of the equipment seen in your drone video? A couple of million? Is that the main cost of the rebuild?

    • @JordanMowbray
      @JordanMowbray  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a good questions. Im not sure what the bucket size is on the new excavators but I can find out for you. I would estimate pretty close to a million but that is not what is being paid for with these erosion projects.

    • @JordanMowbray

  • @green61185
    @green61185 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The best thing they can do, for now, is plant seeds. Trees would be the best place to start to get the deep roots in asap. It'll take a while, but it'll be worth it to not lose the soil due to erosion. Sadly, I don't see this lake coming back. As of now, the US is destroying more dams than their putting up.
