Love the sensible commentary at the end. My grandma said if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. These days if you can’t say something nice go onto the internet and say it to someone you don’t even know in front of a whole lot of people you don’t know either…. They will love you 🤣🤣🤣 I’m with you, original is great and good to celebrate the history of these unique machines.
Yeah I don't understand why people want everything to be perfect the best ever #1 and then point out anything that isn't. I've noticed most of these people aren't that physically attractive we could probably start calling out all their deficiencies too but your Grandma wouldn't do that, thanks for watching David we appreciate it man.... we're just trying to make positive videos if we can help it. I had fun playing this machine!
I was thinking on the last video that the ball was ejecting too quickly for the scoring to happen, and it turns out I was right! And I owe it all to watching your videos! Thanks Ron!
I figured some of you might figure it out, when I ended the last video I'd already figured it out so I said "there's been a clue" thinking some of you might get it :) Thanks for watching Fred!
Another killer trouble shooting video. …. It always seems so logical and ‘easy’ when you pull out the schematic and go through it. Some of your skill seems to be rubbing off as I’m now a lot better than I used to be. …. but there’s still a lot of room for improvement in my ability to isolate the problem. …. as I often say “I’ve got it surrounded”. Thanks heaps Ronnie. … looking forward to the ‘Blackjack’.
The glass defiantly changes the sound, I like it though the sound brings back memories, It's cool to play it in the dark but nice to see it with the lights on once in awhile to see how the game play is. Love your videos so many memories.
Great job Ronnie, It goods great. Those chimes sound better than my doorbell at my home. Come on people you have too play with the lights off. Great video Ronnie
Douro was saying the old doorbell chimes sound better, that could be :) I've never taken the one apart on my house, I wonder if it's the same setup???? hmmmm.... Thanks for watching Frank, we appreciate it!
Lol is this the lite version of this machine.. The engineer who built it was definitely high cuz they spelt light wrong in the schematic and on the Playfield:) Lite light same thing Sodder solder same thing Thanks for another great repair video it's great how you show how to fix it:)
I keep looking at your schematic lessons and I think i get it until I do it myself. i struggle with 5000 bonus lot scoring and still trying to figure it out. 1000 works.
Thanks for playing with the lights on - you can play with the glass on - just get a polarizer for the camera to cut the glare. That Stern Rawhide game plays sweet! You did a superb resto on it!!
Most of them it's a little different, this is the first one I've seen that used an actual doorbell, the other ones use little chime boxes or bells or whatever.... but basically a doorbell is a bell or a chime so it's very similar...
I agree with you Ron. I wasn't sure of this one in the beginning . But, it's really grown on me, watching the refurb videos. I'd play that thing senseless.
Great series! I've got a Stampede I'll be working on shortly. I'll keep an eye on the change over and see if it has the same issue. I love the old CC and Stern games.
Gotta love those NuTone EM doorbells. Did Chicago Coin use them in many machines before Stern bought them out? Great job bringing this one back to life!
The glass does a lot to muffle the sound of the playfield mechanisms, so you hear more of the chimes and intended sounds instead of the hammering of the bumper and slingshot relays.
Where did the standard come from for the format of the schematic? Telecommunications or Electrical industry? It seems to be very different from electronics field.
Yes I've heard it referred to as Ladder logic like Pavier said but not sure when it was standardized. They're actually even a little different between the different pin manufacturers too so not completely standard...
Hey Lads .) thank you for upload. , im backing after getting real sick in Covid so i havent watched anything from late Dec :) Just been playing ghost and goblins for 14 weeks straight :)
What type of Coil wire is used for the solenoids and coils? is it enamel wire or does the wire have a much high temperature coating on it so that wire can with stand when the solenoid or coil gets very hot when operating?
If you replace the doorbell with a new one, you may want to check the voltage. Newer doorbells seem to have standardized on 24V. If so, you could just take some windings off each solenoid coil to liven it up a bit.
Ron a question for you. If you had a Bally BSD blowing fuse F104 and you disconnected J107 and the fuse didn't blow. Would you conclude the issue is a short somewhere near the coils to which J107 provides power? I'm getting stumped by the problem as I can't find a short but not sure if I should be looking elsewhere. Coils show correct resistance so I don't think its the coils.
Considering the first time I ever played pinball was in an old school shot and a beer bar, the ONLY way to play pinball is with the lights down. Playing pinball in a brightly lit area is akin to stargazing in the middle of the day in summer....just doesn't make sense. :)
Most arcades where these machines were originally installed didn't have a lot of lighting if I recall rightly. Does that mean all the people playing in the arcades were fools? Lol. Some people just need a life 🙂. I like this game. Very cool, even with the doorbell.
Protip: you can use fingernail polish to reinsulate the transformer wires after soldering. Just don't use glitter polish because of the metal flakes, I prefer clear or red. You can fast cure it with a UV light.
I thought the glitter was mica, but yeah, if it has metal in it, you don't want to use it. Clear would be the best, IMHO since it doesn't have the pigments in there to weaken it.

I have a number of classic sterns, no EMs though. I need a rawhide in my life. Love it.

Thank you Mark, we appreciate it.... we still have some business with the old RAWHIDE at HIGH NOON over here tomorrow....
This was an excellent repair/refurb. The play field touch up was extremely well done. I bet the owner will be extremely pleased with your work!
Thank you miniskunk, we appreciate that.... thank you for watching!

Great explanation of the score motor timing issue!

You need to look for a doorbell with real tone bars! Most of them these days just have a speaker.

your getting better. you need me to play.. still lovin it . so good at what you do its great.
I never realized pinball games used doorbells, but now that you mention it, it seems so obvious.

Another awesome pinball machine.
Love the way this one plays! Nice job Ron!
I love pinballs machines
I do too Donald, thank you for watching buddy, as always!
Thanks professor for the teaching
Gotta love those NuTone EM doorbells. Did Chicago Coin use them in many machines before Stern bought them out? Great job bringing this one back to life!
I'm not sure, I don't get too many chicago Coin games in so i'm not sure how much they were used...
Gettin better!
A lil bit!
Door chime is great!
I think it sounded just fine all things considered....
Hay Ron what are you doing with the blackjack in the back
It's next!
Cheers Ron :)

It seems to be very different from electronics field.
It’s called a ‘Ladder’ diagram…. Commonly used in industrial electronics
@@pavierthermostat8763 That's enough for me to find out more. Thanks for the quick reply.
This was my favorite format for repair. It gave me a deep appreciation for the genius built into these EM machines.

Well I'm glad you're back Peter, and Naytch.... it's warming up over here so we're all getting ready for the spring...
@@LyonsArcade It's Autumn here now.. almost my favourite time of the year Winter🤠
Ghosts and Goblins is an awesome game..I remember pirating that game off a school mate in 87 in computer club on my C64 haha 😁
Hey Ron, if putting the glass back on makes it twice as good to play, would it be four times better with TWO glasses on it?!?!? 😄
Love ya, brother!
Those chimes would drive my dogs crazy...they HATE the doorbell even on TV...LOL

Sorry, from the caption I thought we were playing “Joe’s Classic Video Games Jeopardy”
It's broke 😆
