Finally! They went from a disposable grill to real grill. Well done MB. Great video! Thank you!
This looks amazing, I know a decent number of people dislike Masterbuilt and had a lot of problems with their 560/800/1050. And MB support seems almost non existant according to the people I've spoken to who couldn't get their issues fixed. But, I love my 560, and outside of the fan sometimes not wanting to come on. It's been super solid and in the 4 years I've owned it I haven't had to replace anything. This looks nice nice nice, it's definitely on my radar. I'll wait to see some YT reviews and see what the word is. But as of now, I really want this :D
For anyone watching this who's never owned a smoker with a PID (electronic controller) It makes using it so easy that a monkey could make a perfect rack of ribs or pork butt. It's almost like a cheat code, and it doesn't matter if you are a cook, or a BBQer or not. It literally does everything for you. And with the app you can monitor your cook over the internet when you're out. 10+ years ago you had to have some skills to make good BBQ. This will turn out some of the best Que you'll eat with basically no knowledge needed.
And this looks improved over the old models in every way, and IMHO for the price the 560 is a BEAST. It's a lot smaller, but I can still cook a ton of food on it. And in America, I just checked they're currently $397 at Walmart, which is an insane deal for anyone who doesn't have $1,500 to drop on this. And for a small to medium size family 560 square inches is still a lot of cooking area.
If the fan isn't coming on regularly, then you probably need a new fan or the doors are acting up. I had the same issue for months and thought it was the controller but it was the fan. I did like MB but I come to hate it actually. I did run through 2 controllers with them and before I splice my wires, the doors sometimes would make it seem like they weren't closed. So the fan wouldn't come on. Once I splice it so that it would come on no matter if doors were open or closed, it worked a lot better.
I am going to look at the more expensive options and just buy a controller to connect to them. Like stumps grills. Pricy however with how much I smoke it will be worth it.
@@LegendaryOldwarrior I had the same issue with fan at times not coming on. When the controller is feeding 12volts as it should (disconnect the fan connector at the left controller side and measure with multimeter), measure the continuity of the ground connection on the right side (disconnect the fan there). The ground connection gets disconnected by either the chimney lid switch or the burning chamber door. In my case these switches would not short in the middle of a cook with the doors shut., causing the fan to spin down. You can simply run 2 wires from the controller to the fan directly, eliminating the sketchy switch behaviour. But be aware the fan might keep spinning opening the chimney lid or burning chamber door.
I second this and loved my 560 so much when it burned to the ground from my lack of cleaning I bought a 1050 the next day. I have a Rectec too but the MB gives me stick burner and Weber flavor.
Such a massive improvement. This is what it should have been like from the start. The 1st gen just arent made for UK weather IMO. I'm looking at my 800 series now through the kitchen window and its rusting and corroding from every screw, rivet and join. Masterbuilt were great at supporting me though which is a huge bonus. I'll prob put the 800 on ebay and hope for a rainy summer sale to buy the XT
XT is waiting for you :)
Just built mine and done a burn-in. Can confirm it’s a beast. Instructions still shocking for a few steps.
This will be far better for the UK weather.
Love the 3 fully racked cooking levels.
The controls only got just warm when at 400f.
Now if the app would see connectivity improvements, great video!!
The Kamado Joe version works better so this should be better too.
Awesome! Thank you!
should be a big step up
Have the 1050 now and excited to add the XT as soon as it's available in the US. Looks like the front shelf is larger than the original.
Thanks for the info and explanation of the upgrades!
It was available in the US on Saturday. KeystoneBBQ. Sold out.
Oooh now this is tempting. As mentioned this could be a far better bet for the UK weather.
Love the gasket addition too.
Amazing how this is so early to the UK and I’m still waiting for the Blackstone griddle and air fryer!
Not sure with that U shaped diffuser will as good for grilling than the others, but I would be using this for grilling. From what I’ve read it’s very greedy on fuel that way.
Blackstone air fryer has been made for the UK, should be here in May/June, we have lots on order.
@@prosmokebbq8530 good to get the redesign. But yikes that’s over a year, with a lot of people’s money.
I’ve been waiting for a detailed video. Thanks.
No probs, more coming
I do still like the cast iron grills
Too much to maintain, too long to heat up. I prefer stainless steel
I dm’d Masterbuilt asking for a release date here in US. I also asked if they’d ever build a “competition/professional” series version. I asked if they’d make like a 94gal offset thick gauge steel type of cook chamber with their cook chamber attached or even one with just thicker steel and a foot wider. Waiting on a response.
Great technical breakdown. Thanks a lot from Texas!
WHEWWWWWWWW SHES A MONSTER! Thank god I waited and didnt buy an 800. But yes we don’t have them here in the us yet! I can’t freeking wait I just wish they did the autoignite
This looks to be the build quality we all wanted in the previous models. I love my 800 but based on build quality I'm not sure if I would spring $1400. Not sure the trust is there to support that price-point just yet. That said it looks awesome!
Assuming there is a rotisserie kit in the pipeline as the left side has the mount option like the others. Let's hope they have improved it given the problems with the 560-1050's. Looks like a good bit of kit though, shame I've only just jumped on these with the 560 but this could replace it in a couple of years maybe.
I think the existing kit may fit, one to try next week
@@prosmokebbq8530 It does I believe
Wow. I'm about to sell my 1050 and upgrade to this 😍
This looks like a huge step up, even compared to the 800 that I have, let alone the 560.
I wonder what the searing will be like without the cast iron grill and the manifold directly underneath?
I have my doubts tbo. But the heat from the two manifolds will continue middle so it might ok.
I think it will be great ! Maybe even hotter than before
What we all want to know is the upgrades to the electronics. I don't see any of the stupid switches in the lid. That might be a big plus. Also curious about the controller. Is it worth a damn?
Yes, the controller is way way better
yes
Love my 560 to be fair, well over 100 cooks on it and it’s still going strong. This is exceedingly tempting, can you use the existing rotisserie or is it a specific one to the XT?
+1 hope the rotisserie can be interchanged.
existing will fit from what I am told
Great Video - will the 1050 cast iron grates fit the grill - just curious
Love your videos Oliver and already a PK 300 owner from yourselves. Got great advice from yourselves in purchasing the PK and the Grill Grates. They both work a treat for steaks and burgers as you mentioned. Quick question if possible?, do you think Kamado Joe will ever bring out a Konnected Big Joe?. The reason I ask is it would give me a decision to make between the Konnected Big Joe and the Masterbuilt XT. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks as always.
Can you put a griddle in it for smash burgers and sear meat 🥩
560 owner 3 years here had to line the inside with sheets of stainless as it was rusting through. Same with the hopper… definitely great improvements here!
It’s porcelain coated all over, but what is underneath that porcelain? Is it still mild steel that’ll rust away from extreme heating and cooling cycles? 🤔
If the steel never sees the light of day it won’t rust 🤘
Heating and cooling doesn't cause rust. Rust is caused by moisture and oxygen. If the steel is coated in porcelain, moisture and oxygen can't get to it to cause rust.
Hello Pro Smoke, I saw a review on Toptenrweviews about the XT "My biggest issue with this grill and smoker is how much ash it created-and not in the ash bucket where I would have hoped all of it would have gone. The grates were covered in ash after every cooking session. I’d have to clean it off before using the grill again. However, the grates would then get covered completely in ash as soon as I started the grill. Even as I cooked, ash continued to cover the grates. I found myself having to constantly clean ash off the grates before I cooked, as I cooked, and after I cooked. It’s likely that my food was covered in a fine layer of ash too" What are your thoughts on that?
Will they have an option later for cast iron grates? I saw you guys are make a flat top griddle but will they be coming out with accessories like they did for the 1050 to make it versatile? Rotisserie, griddle, pizza oven, etc. I like what I see as far as improvements, but should I just keep my 1050 as well as getting this one?
The rotisserie and pizza oven from the 1050 works with the XT.
The real question is did they upgrade the power cord from the headphone cord they had before?
Yes
I'm worried about the baffle design. The Oklahoma Joe Tacoma 900 has lever baffles, too. The charcoal still smolders for too long wasting fuel.
I'm curious as to why it's released in the uk before the us why not both
Shorter sailing time probably, looks like its hitting your shores next week or so
Hoffentlich passen die roste auch auf den 560er das währe cool
I appreciate the improvements but im still curious what issues people will encounter over time...how will the heat from the firebox affect the control panel? That's my main concern
There's plenty of air-gap and insulation between the controller and the firebox. Same controller is used on the spider grills venom and konnected joe kamado. It's held up well in relatively warm places on both devices.
Well, now I have to justify getting the new one and trying to sell my old one
If they were like this from start I wouldn't of switched to the konnected joe
Oh no Lewis! We’ve lost you to ceramic’s, 🙃
How does this compare to a Konnected Joe? I'm assuming the Kamado is more fuel efficient and holds temp better?
Please give us some info on the grease catcher and what was that little door under the left shelf? Thanks
Nice catch! Yes what is that for? Opening up to scrape out?
If I remember correctly, it's to pull out the grease tray.
Yeah that will be the grease catcher. It’s a nice size if the 1050 is anything to go by. But it’s in an awkward place to pull out.
@@invisiblekid99 why can’t they just let you pull it out the front! 😩all these years having to move my bbq out to get to the tray! So inconvenient.
@@gman1165yeah it’s a bit odd. A front draw would be way better.
It’s a bit like the Blackstone griddle with the grease hole at the back so you have to reach over the grill to push the grease etc into the trap.
Do you guys accept clearpay?
They should have called it the Masterbulit Gravity P.I.M.P.
Is the xt equal to the size of the 1050 ? Or is it the Same size Like the 800 ??
bigger than all of them, you get 1260 inches of cooking space
@@prosmokebbq8530 And will be the 800 also bei replaced with the new Set Up ??
My main question is, does the new 800 still have the griddle attachment with it? Are they keeping that with the new upgraded series?
No griddle on the Xt. Not sure if the griddle from the 1050 fits or not.
Yeah nahhh ill stick with the chargriller 980... Not enough advancements to upgrade.
Mine is fantastic! the big problem its 3 years old and almost rusted out. Lots of $$$ spent i will not buy another for this disposable reason.
Why can't I ordered it in the US any info
We’ve spoken to the US, it’s coming online soon!! Try and support a specialist BBQ shop if you can
@prosmokebbq8530 I've been asking lots of bbq shop they didn't even know a xt was coming out I'm ready to smoke grill hope it's worth the wait
@@BB-xv6hp unfortunately I think the owners of the brand (middleby) only now sell to the big box shifters like Costco, Walmart etc. they have all but given up with specialist shops.
It’s only a matter of time until it happens in the UK
@@prosmokebbq8530 dang ok
@@prosmokebbq8530Home Depot and Ace Hardware are the big box I’ve seen that carry these. I dm’d masterbuilt with a question on release here in us. I’ve yet to get a response!
are these available in australia ? i think i need one
I think you guys have dealers out there so shouldn’t be long.
If we don’t take all the stock in the UK and Usa
How’s the Wi-Fi connection looking?
much better
Is this compatible with the griddle?
We will need to make one
Does it still come with the cast iron griddle for eggs, onions, pancakes etc?
There isn’t but we will be making an after market set of griddles
Nice one. Thanks for the quick reply! Will the previous G800 one fit?
@@samgillespie I think it will be too small
Too bad. Will be keeping my eyes on your griddle, then! 👀
The wheels.. A joke IMO.. Make them big..
We love them! What were you expecting 😂
@@prosmokebbq8530 Wheels capable on rolling on grass turf so I can store the unit in my shed in the winter.
