Good morning Tommy, Thank you again for a wonderful video that was not only a visually delight, but you give a lot of detailed information on what you did and why. As always, I have a few questions… As you mentioned, this time around, you had more of the flame to give it that char kiss. Why do you think the master built gave us the flame this time and not the first time (asking because I want to be able to have flame when I’m cooking on my XT (when I get it))? Ever since you had the Lone Star Pellet Grill on the show, I’ve been doing a lot of research on it and it is an amazing machine… but from what I read, it is first and foremost, a fantastic smoker. If money was no object, which of the two would you choose as an overall smoker/grill combo? If money is an issue (I’m great at $1500, but at $4000 (the Lone Star unit with the golf cart, wheels, etc.)), it requires a little bit more thought. Is there enough smoke flavor advantage to the lone star to warrant $2500 more in your opinion? Again, I value your wisdom, experience, and insight with these machines, and thank you for taking the time to educate us. Pray God’s continued blessings for you and yours, as your presence grows more and more. Your great work is like planting seeds out there, and it will return a bountiful harvest. Much love
First off. That 4.99 is very special and greatly appreciated. A, this steak had more grease happening, B, I let the pit pre-heat longer at 700f, C,The gods were on my side;).... Now as far as the LSG and this pit thats so hard. I mean, Its like picking between two supermodels. lol The XT would be more of a daily driver because it does more things. The LSG will prolly last forever. I know I never answered.😂😂😂😂
My 590 was such a searing beast it burned up and led me to buy a 1050. LSS mods make great accessories and I loaded that one up so no more burn downs. Highly recommend their total kit. Great vid! Keep up the excellent cooking!
Awesome, thanks for this. My XT shows up next week and enjoyed this cook. I like that your not scared of the grease fire. That was one thing I was scared of with my old pellet smoker configuration but with this new XT it seems we don't have to be as scared. (in fact it helps with searing). If that's the case then I'm now 100% happy with my decision. Love to be learning with you! Really is appreciated.
Hey Tommy- Another fantastic video. My MB540 is ready to be retired. Over the past couple of weeks, you've convinced me to stick with MB. This XT is coming to my backyard very soon, as in Memorial Day Weekend!!!
That looks good! My favorite is to roast garlic and mash it in room temp butter for topping. Similar. I’ll try it in a pan next time cause that steak looked sexy. Great video… I wanted that steak…. And that XT.
Wow Tommy you sure did hit a Grand Slam with that Tomahawk Steak. Looks so delicious and juicy. That Masterbuild sure hit over 700 F like nothing. Great sear on the steak 🥩. Looks like the seasoning gave it an awesome flavor. Have a wonderful day Tommy and enjoy your weekend. CHEERS!!!!
That was one helluva cook! It's making my mouth water 3,000 miles away. Thanx for the show Tommy, and until next time, we will see you later. (Wave of the hand and finger)✌

@@thegalleryBBQ Which would you recommend, the XT or the Chargrill 980? I am dumping my pitboss sportsman(I love it, just need more cooking space) and I was really looking at these due to how often I cook steaks and want a good sear.
@@thegalleryBBQ OK. Could I ask why? Just curious. I narrowed it doesn to XT with mods(1700.00) or the 980 with mods(1000). I cant really find any information on how they cook differently....most videos show them neck and neck(searing a steak is a priority for me)
Looks good man! I feel your pain in MD, rain what 15 days now this month? I have 2 briskets on my 1050 and 2 butts on my Akorn...on since 7pm last night. The rain has not helped.
Hey, Tommy looked outstanding went ahead and ordered. Some of this up. used to crush the hard-core carnivore with my mortar and pestle but this looks just the right mesh. Got a party/picnic next Sunday thinking of smoking a brisket from wild Fork of course. Salt and pepper as usual. Thinking of using this as well. What do you think? Talk to you later my man.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
So I assume doing burgers and ribeyes you’ll always get enough grease for flare ups for your flame sear. I had a pitboss and it burnt up and no longer works. I spotted one of the gravity masterbuilts at academy today and found your channel! I’m reluctant to give up my open sear plate but this seems like a much more efficient cooker with less worry. My pitboss seemed like it was always catching fire or smoking out or something.
@@thegalleryBBQ I like it! The minute I stay away from the lake long enough I’m planning to dismantle the tank that’s on the back porch now and go snag me one! Talked me into it🤣

@@thegalleryBBQ the problem is getting the wood to catch light. It mostly sits in the ash box doing nothing. I think this is partly due to the XT being very Efficient. I’ll try and light a small amount of charcoal and put the wood on top ? What you think Tommy ? Oh and thanks for your reply man 👍👍👍

Its that board sauce. Stuff is amazing!
I'm going to make the board sauce next time I do steak!
Was that a grease fire or natural fire from the grill like you got with the 1050?
No. Its hard to get a good grease fire going on the XT..

There was almost no flare up, my MB 800 would have been on fire! This new XT seems to be quite the upgrade over the previous MB GS’s.
Agreed. That flare that you watched was very controlled! I love this pit!
Beautiful, that's all I gotta say.... To bad I don't have space for another grill, lol..
