  • With return and resettlement almost complete, the situation still remains fragile in Amuru district, Northern Uganda. The causes of insecurity and violence have been a subject of changing dynamics within the entire period of transition from encampment to former homesteads. The Refugee Law Project, under the auspice of the Advisory Consortium on Conflict Sensitivity - a consortium that includes International Alert and Saferworld conducted a field research from 28th August to 4th September 2011 on land conflict in Amuru District.
This research looked into the nature and dynamics of land ownership, land access, and land use as well as how political perceptions and considerations factored as important elements in the land conflicts and how the question of investment played out in the context of ongoing conflicts associated with land in Amuru district. This documentary highlights the key conflict indicators and dynamics related to land conflict in Lakang and Apaa villages in Amuru.

Northern Uganda went through a two decades of intense war between the (UPDF) and the rebels (LRA). This war impacted enormously on the people in terms of death & loss of property, dependency on donated aids, destruction of the infrustructures & conjestion in camps which eroded the culture. After the war, people returning to their original home land found themselves evicted by the gov't claiming that its a game reserve yet with hidden intension of giving huge chunks private land to investors.
