  • Amazing refit / renovation of our 1996 Venezia 42 Sailing Catamaran! We are remodeling our sailboat for comfort and off grid cruising. A huge factor to live off grid is sustainable clean energy. We upgraded our battery bank to LiFePo4 and now we have completely rebuilt our galley with new electric induction cooktop and microwave convection oven equipment.

      @@SaltyEscape a refit is a big commitment even more so whilst living in/thru it. Must be frustrating seeing all those sailing channels heading south for your winter, but all worth it in the end.

    For doing plugs... I've been told to take the sawdust, and mix it with expoxy, then fill the holes. Have you tried that? If you get bored... my boat needs a galley. Lol. Well done!

    Great setup! How is the power consumption of the galley? How big is your battery bank and inverter? Can you run both hotplates and oven at the same time? I imagine it takes some planning to cook a meal.

    • @SaltyEscape
      @SaltyEscape  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Philip! We have 1400 amp hours of LiFePo4. The Victron multiplus can handle up to 3000 watts. We have not had any limitations with our appliances. We haven’t had to do any specific planning to prepare meals. The induction cooktop will automatically limit one or both cook plates not to exceed 1800 watts. Everything works beautifully! 😊 I made a couple videos about my batteries, you may want to check them out! 😉

    • @philipb.7889
      @philipb.7889 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SaltyEscape Corey, I assume the multiplus is 3000VA - that's about 2400 Watts. Can you run a hotplate and the oven at the same time? I'm trying to get a realworld idea of how much power I'll need - I just figured out this week that my Victron Phoenix 2000VA is not nearly enough...

    • @SaltyEscape
      @SaltyEscape  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We frequently use the induction cooktop and the microwave at the same time. We rarely use the convection oven feature because we prefer to use our Ninja air fryer that we put in the cockpit however we also frequently use the Ninja with the induction cooktop together and that should put the same demand on the Victron electronics. We have never kicked a breaker. Most of our experience has been well plugged into shore power although we do have a handful of weekends where we were running off pure battery power. Still no electronics issues. 😊

    Umm... NO candles on boats. Also, do you have a place to stow everything on the counters when underway? That's a lot to have out and not stowed away.

    • @SaltyEscape

      So... We're in the BVI. Grew up on boats in SoCal. More boats are destroyed by fire.
