*BEFORE YOU COMMENT THAT THESE JARS ARE TOO SMALL...* 0:01 These jars are temporary. She is in the process of selling these fish, and she completely understands that jars likes these should NEVER be permanent homes. But they are being quarantined and sold. Please read the beginning! For a PERMANENT home, bettas need at least 2.5 gallons, and the temperature of the water should be between 78-82 Fahrenheit. Get a heater if needed. Creative Pet Keeping has lots of videos on the right habitat for a betta. Now, instead of saying that these jars are too small, *pay attention to the video instead of being ignorant, and watch different videos if you’re gonna get butthurt about it.*
its funny how in asian keep betta fish in jars in long term. i bought many by accident and they are house in small jars, its only temporary until i get bigger aquarium for them, i don't need heater since i live in the tropics where bettas originate from and saving up to get them filters, for now i keep a drum full of water that has been left overnight treated with anti chlorine. i do daily water changes in a half gallon jars.
Thanks! I needed this! I will most likely have to keep my new Bettas that are coming next month in jars until I move in the next couple months. It will be easier that way, and I am glad to know how to do this properly now.
Love the premade tannin water jar idea 💡! Usually I put my almond leaves in with each fish but I love the way you have a jar of leaves all tannined up and then put some in each I'm doing that next time! Great idea! Have fun on your camping trip
can i ask something is the water you're putting in to the betta fish are non chlorinated water from tap water? in betta farm they use over flowing water method and it was tap water straight to the faucet is it okay for the betta to use tap water and isn't been medicated?
Its water from her tap and as she shows in the video she treated it with Prime (which is a dechlorinator). All fish need dechlorinated water unless of course you have the luxury of having well or spring water (which come with their own set of issues and problems)
we are moving from Michigan to Florida and will be living in our camper until we find a house. Right now my betta is living in a ten gallon planted tank with heater and filter. I am trying to figure out how to take him with me. Any suggestions? I like those bigger containers you have. Are they plastic? I was going to use a giant mason jar and put holes in the top but the mouth of them isn't very wide and they are sort of tall. Yours look wider which would be nice.
nice to know, I'm gonna be redoing my bettas 10gal soon to a fully planted tank and he will need to be jarred for a few days ^^ I'm waiting for the weather to warm up before I do tho, nice to know a good method of how to keep him happy in a small jar ^^
I like having mine vacation in desk tanks then stay a while in a larger cycled tank. Makes 'em feel like they're traveling :-) Also... I LOVE YOUR GREEN NAIL POLISH.
Hi, I know it’s a little late to comment. But is it good to keep changing 100% of the water once every couple days? I read that it might be stressful for the fishes
Generally no. The difference is these fish aren’t permanently in here, and since they don’t have “cycled” tanks it gets tricky deciding how much you should or shouldn’t change, so it will depend on what you feel your fish to handle. Once you have a CYCLED tank don’t fully change the water. That will 100% stress your fish.
Your jars look simple, clean, and beautiful :) One thing though, would it be better to have some gravel or little rocks on the bottom so that there's more surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow? Or is that not necessary with something like this.
@@danicawellsart you are right, it wont really grown, i know as i am temporary have my bettas in Jars and do daily water changes. almost no slime at all.
The aquarium tank (2 gal) I picked out has a bubbler in the center. It kind of goes into a plastic tube with a plastic grate at the top. Should I remove it or do bettas like some water agitation? He definitely noticed when I turned it off. Can't tell if my fish loves that their gone or hates it. Also, I got the Indian almond leaves and they're not turning the water yellow. Are they still releasing tannins? (I put half a leaf in).
Does anyone know or can link a video to me about carpeting a tank? 5.5 gall and im adding Seachem Flourite Dark as substrate. Im thinking hairgrass but do you just knda stick it into the gravel and wait for it to take over?
great video do i add indian almond leaves in my betta tanks if my water ph is about 6.5 will it harm my fish if i add the indian almond leaves since the ph is very low in my tap
I have a question: id like to get some baby female bettas for my sorority but I'd need to have them grow before I can add them, what's the smallest size tank i can have the babies in? Should I put them all together in a 10 gal or should I give them their own jars
So my brother's betta got attacked by a crawfish and lost his top fin and tail... but he's still energetic like normal, like nothing even happened. Is he gonna grow back his fins? Any tips on recovery for him?
Wow that is a lot of hard work lol I haven't changed my mind Thanks for showing us this I am in the process of breeding Betta's I like to call then Siamese Fighting Fish. To all the people who think they understand about Fighting fish. I do not believe thay should live in a tiny glass container like a wine glass or even a tiny fish bowl. You have to understand that this woman is a breeder they are not in there for the rest of their lives. You can not put Siamese fish together they would kill each other. If you keep them in a big tank they grow very slowly so a breeder will jar them to help them grow their fins and be conditioned for sale. The selling of Siamese fish is a completely different situation from buying one as a pet. I also beleive that 18L = 5G is plenty room for a single Fighting fish .
Do Bettas need good bacteria as do other fish, like if you had a sponge filter? Is that why there are plants and moss? I find it confusing because some people say they need that but then yours are in jars. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Chlexie L. Yes they do. All fish produce waste which has ammonia and is very bad for them. They are in jars because she is a breeder and they will soon be going to (ideally) much larger, filtered, heated, and cycled home. In a cycled tank you would only need to do water changes once a week. She has to do it every day because they live in small jars and to keep down the ammonia levels
Melanie Gaming not necessarily but they do have them in the wild and it changes the color of the water a bit, which is more natural to have than clear water. It is also reputed to have health benefits. They are 9 bucks on amazon for a pack of ten. You would put a new one in every water change
Pet Craz It is a lot of work, seen friends do it, Advertisement is all I could say, and if your site doesn't bring on popularity, selling to a local fish store, NOT a pet shop, is also good
Although it's definitely obviously they need to live in filtered bigger tanks. I think as long as you keep up with water changes daily and the right temp then they should live pretty long
You care for your bettas so well, but I thought we shouldn't touch fish with hands, it can remove scales and protective oils from their skin. What do you think about having a very small net instead?
My betta is swimming on her side and im not sure whats wrong..could you help? Ive looked it up myself and it says it is swim bladder but she is swimming around normally just on her side
Jamie M hmm.. i dont feed her that much and i change the water like 2-3 times a week depending on how dirty it is i did some things ive heard will help and she seems to be getting better ill just keep a eye on it incase it gets worse

They could end up killing each other besides which that is way too small. One betta needs a minimum of 2.5 gallons. I suggest you check out lifewithpets. They have a series on setting up a betta tank. For a sorority, 5 is a good number of fish. Minimum ten gallon but bigger is always better. The tank should be cycled, have a heater and thermometer, and a filter as well as plenty of decorations so the bettas can hide if they are being bullied. Please do your research before buying any pet, no matter how small.

actually 5-10 gallons if you want the betta to thrive, 2.5 gallons is possible but the fish will not thrive
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing :) I've got a King Crowntail and a Marbled Hmpk.
I like the way that you keep the water fresh and clean !! Thanks
A lot of work and dedication. Great job! How much water do those jars hold? They look a good size. Where did you get the jars with the lids?
Great video it's so nice you have plants for the bettas in each of the jars too. You take care of them so well.

Fish For Thought I don't think it's necessary because the fish poop will collect between the rocks/pebbles making it harder to clean.
She said she did water change every other day, basically when you do water change, all the ammonia and poop were gone as she do a 100% water change
The bacteria also need oxygen circulation to grow, so without flow, like in these jars, they won't grow. As far as I know, anyway.
@@danicawellsart you are right, it wont really grown, i know as i am temporary have my bettas in Jars and do daily water changes. almost no slime at all.

if you have a dog in a small apartment dont complain seeing fish in jars because it makes you a hypocrite
Paolo Garrido she's a breeder. It is a must to jar the bettas. Please watch the video all the way. They are temporary.
I know. What I mean is, so many people complain when they see a betta in a jar but they themselves have 2-3 dogs in 1 apartment. I have no problem with jars as long as there is frequent water changes
Paolo Garrido okay.
Betta fish are sensitive to salt. I would not recommend putting salt in water for a Betta. ParaGuard is a much better alternative.
It mimics there natural habitat and helps prevent bacterial problems, a little bit of salinity is good for them.
Are you still selling fish ?
How you get the ambar water?
