the early days of Muse, this world was not prepared for what turned out to be the most talented rock band of the millennium. Muse are epic, and still young.
I feel like this must have been one of the first times they ever played this song live... you can see Matt's singing the lyrics in different order and everything but the music is exactly like the finished version, and you can see the raw brilliance that birthed this song. Fuck me that was good.
I had this as an audio only bootleg for 20 years. I moved house and lost it, and then went searching on TH-cam for live performances around the right time. This video is the audio bootleg I had, and it's so fun to watch Matt and the band belting out their next global hit to a mostly disinterested audience. Those folks in the out were so lucky and they didn't even know it . Eric band, epic song, just brilliant.
Hahaha just read the comment below mine, which is also mine 😂 going to leave them both up as they cover mostly different stuff, with a bit of overlap. Guess I'll be back in another six months or so!
End of 2023 I attend to Muse Live in KL, it was my best night. How they turn from here to one of the band ever. Sound quality wise is improved miles away, process that they get through makes them who they are today. Love you muse xoxo Muse songs always be my comfort song.
This is the first version of New Born I ever heard, I had it downloaded from Napster or Limewire or similar. I kept it for nearly twenty years, then accidentally deleted it along with a bunch of other live recordings and rarities. So glad to find it here. "Here's another new one...bit more keyboard...". Awesome.
Bizarre 2000, oh. No one wanted to go and listen. I have been mocked and ridiculed for my love for Muse. I dont care. This concert was epic. I'll always be proud to be a Muser.
Ha ha! The guy at 3:28 just grumpily chewing on his gum is hilarious!! Dom needs to put the mask back on and tell "cobra kai" to "Sit the faaaahhck DOWN!!!!"
***** I think their best was the one at T in the park in 2004. The only reason I like it better is because the crowd is more into it and you can tell they are more excited about playing. That and the solo/ music is better cause they have their more modern gear and are a bit better at playing.
British producers at that time would arrange overseas tours to shine the bands. Bands like coldplay, muse and placebo had no value in countries like Germany and America. They would go to festivals like Bizarre en masse. I even know that muse and coldplay only had demos. I guess Placebo had an album. Idk but what a days :)
they were in their 20s during this time, their in their 30s now. Do you really expect 30 year olds to jump around and be as energetic as they were 10 years ago?
love for what you hide....you cant come down to earth ....its swelling up its unstoppable....distance to your home ....??????????? what ?????????? hopeless times to run the distance to your home!!! i dont understand this performance
Other preomcances when he uses this guitar there isnt isnt the balck stripe aorund the guitar... i personally i think he got some gaffa tape and made his guitar look awsome :O!!!!!! "Bible keybaord" :D
@louisehutereau Well he is right....have you been at or seen any of the concerts from the Resistance Tour? No real energy or jumping around from Matt other than things like the Plug in Baby spins but even then he looks quite bored doing it. It's probably just become too much of a routine for them and him, shame really but kinda innevitable :(
Jeez, Matt's keys and guitar sounded so plastic and cheap back then, I mean just listen to the epic riff, it doesn't sound like it should. Does he even have distortion on ? Guess that's how it goes when you're starting out :) Chris' bass sounds really good though.

10 years later and can't wait to see them live in Plymouth this year!
A shame they evolved into what they did. The earliest stuff was grand. Later....not so much.
I like the sound of matts equipment before he got the manson guitars and the kawai pianos, it sounds more raw
@@tmb8807 yes yes. The tone on the guitar was so fucking harsh I love that setlist.
@@sludgerat666 Pinkerton/Songs from the Black Hole?
Yes a real treat, not heard this arrangement.
Weird to hear the first notes of New Born without the audience imploding.

Fuck me that was good.
You should listen to bliss at the bizarre festival
Matt does more with a guitar in one song than than most players do on a whole album.
Is it weird, that New Born was the first ever song that I heard, when I was a literal new born,
Different setting though :P

Only matt can pull off blue hair
this just reminds me how it feels to truly love something... muse are glorious :D
I hope they still have that piano :)
He probably already thrashed it:(
Chris was always a beast. Not even a single note missed
I don't recall him ever missing a note.
2000 and nobody belive that there can be any new band who could be a legend in Future like the big old bands.
But than came muse!!!
I can't say this enough:I loooovvvveeeee matt's hands!!!
This performance was before they released OoS, the lyrics were probably not final, what is there to understand lol?
The guy with the Slipknot T-shirt around 3:28 doesn´t get it at all xD
His hair and eyes look like they're glowing! Totally cool!
Bizarre 2000, oh. No one wanted to go and listen. I have been mocked and ridiculed for my love for Muse. I dont care. This concert was epic. I'll always be proud to be a Muser.
this is the best Muse's esibition ever!!! i love they first years
The audience is dead as hell. :/
That's before muse were big and before this song was released. It's normal
very normal, they were playing an unreleased song.
Eh not really. There was Even a fight.
ikr
Ha ha! The guy at 3:28 just grumpily chewing on his gum is hilarious!! Dom needs to put the mask back on and tell "cobra kai" to "Sit the faaaahhck DOWN!!!!"
Hahaha great spot.
I love how hes already mostly got the guitar solo worked out, but the words arent in the same order! shows whats important haha
it was the day of my birthday!
this is only a different version of the song. it wasn't even called "new born" at that time. so it's wrong that matt didn't know the lyrics.
can play as bliss, new born, and plug in baby when the cd was released in 2001 and the festival was in 2000?
The songs were written before the festival
Wow, his voice grew stronger with years. Did he have a coach?
No, Matt. You've got the 2nd verse the wrong way around :P
There's a set list taped to one of the speakers behind Dom at 0:45
Oh, good spot! I grabbed a screenshot and posted it on Imgur with the same title as this video.

@Dkdevilkid well i wouldnt say that. But yeah they do have a lot of energy in this performance
What dotes matt say At the begginong? I think he says the same thing in the performance of bliss
''This is another new one. A bit more keyboard'' i guess
new born has the biggest build up in 8 bars, this just proves it coz everyone goes (relitively) mental!
how can this be? Origin of Symmetry came out in 2001 -.-
Emang sih kamu lupa lirik matt, tp gpplah namanya jg newbirn yesss

Chris' bass sounds really good though.
That poor guitar.
He didn’t get most of the lyrics right
