Your commentary about the Apple store was both hilarious and accurate. I think it's my new favorite landmark of the city. For the clock tower, I think the style of it fits the train station really well but maybe it would be better at the front or next to the road? Bit weird to have it right in the middle of the tracks. (Also, city detailing is my favorite part of this game so I absolutely do not mind watching you just scroll through buildings, especially when the end results look so nice!)

For noise pollution, use tree lined roads to help out the residential areas to see how that helps and if not enough, check the hospital again to make sure it's actually on the roads (I think move it might have messed it up and I don't know if you've fixed it and I missed it).

Education, police, more parks and every service helps increase land value. Education will help a lot in downtown. Make some different levels of buildings historical so that way as they level up you get some different variety. Especially if you like a lower level building.

If you’re trying to get rail to where the docks will eventually be, I think you should tunnel and follow a similar path as the highway. To me that seems like the best way to avoid any traffic problems that would arise from the tracks crossing all of the major roads in the downtown area, and it would also look a lot cleaner.

To make a better transition in the residential from high to low, do the following:
    1. make 4 different districts (biggest building to smallest)
--- a. In the largest, zone high density.
--- b. In the second largest, zone high density but Highrise Ban policy
--- c. In the third largest (second smallest) zone low density
--- d. In the smallest, zone low density but Self Sufficient policy (Green Cities DLC)
    2. enjoy the more natural curve!

There is a collection of mid-rise Brooklyn buildings on the Steam workshop, which include a variety of architecture styles (italianate renaissance, neoclassical, simple American federal). I think a mix of the Brooklyn mid-rise (high density) and some other low-rise (low density) buildings would transition out of your built-up park area very nicely

This is such a beautiful city! I love the Apple Store there next to the industrial station. They are always a little over the top anywhere in real life as well, so that spot is as good as any in this city. I have a suggestion that I always do to make high residential look pretty: When I leave a few open spaces here and there and plop down some of the tiny parking lots that you also have in your mods, combined with a little tree (or two, or a bush). It looks very clean ánd it enhances the landvalue. I look forward to where this city is heading, so far it has been a great series to watch!

I think a waterfront cargo line would be a good idea! It might be ugly, but the good kind of ugly. Where I live a cargo line runs along the waterfront because the city used to be a lot more industrial. Nowadays the waterfront industry has gone away and those sites have been converted into parks, but the cargo line still runs along/through them.

  • @kotrynatelesiute5588
    @kotrynatelesiute5588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Do the cargo line under the suburbs in the mountain, that would be more suitable than going straight through the downtown or along the water. Another idea, when you don't know what to do with spaces like the one on front of the apple store, just do some pathways and paint the ground with cement, add some flowers and do a small square!

22:25 Where I live there are traffic lights and intersections on certain parts of highways also, so it's not that weird of a thing. They're mostly on slower highways (45-50mph/72-80kph).
38:00 I think the park might look a little "off" because the middle road is very straight and uninterrupted. I originally thought you would make it a circuit pathway in the shape of an oval without any straight joins, because most parks are like that instead of straight across pathways. You could have added the invisible paths to have them walk across the grass, but visually have it an oval.

00:21:40 This is what Perth does as well, we have Tonkin Hwy, which is basically a big long road that doesn't have any zoning and connects between neighbourhoods but has lights instead of interchanges. I've actually embraced that in my last two cities and basically had like no highway interchanges except roundabouts once they got off the main entry freeway. Australia actually also has a distinction between freeways and highways - freeways are free-flowing and only have interchanges, highways can be interchanges or intersections, can be high-speed or not and there's some roads called highways in Perth that have commercial zoning along them even though they're like six lanes (Canning Highway and Albany Highway). I'm calling my current city design principle "no freeways, only highways/main roads, we die like men". There's a set of roads on the workshop called Highways Over Wall that have larger and asymmetrical two-way highway bits.
Oooh there's also some roads on the Workshop that have trams and buses down the centre that look really cool on like a boulevard type thing (I know they have that for trams in Adelaide?).

The worst part about zoning is that it sometimes creates huge gaps between the buildings because there are parking lots or trees included in the asset. Plus the sizing is all over the place. In my opinion this just isn't realistic at all and breaks immersion.

I think the highway might be more realistic if its raised with ramps, I also think a police station would probably be somewhere in that hub near the train station and maybe a gas station or two dispersed out on the roads towards the city and on the very outskirts of the city. You always see those sketchy lonesome gas stations on the corners of long travel roads. Some rest stations along the highways would also probably be a nice add on.

Just an idea for future train lines in the city: perhaps keep them elevated but place them at the center of an avenue/road. It's something fairly common in big cities in the U.S. and would save you the trouble of ground crossings everywhere, plus it wouldn't cut down on potential zoning.

Best practice is to keep your internal passenger rail, external "intercity" passenger rail, export freight and your internal freight all on different wholly separate rail networks - prevents any weird risks... Also a bus station next to the rail station is a great idea, I love that you're using busses as a main transit form in this city - maybe you could use trolley busses in the city as you've not used them much before?

I think you have the right idea with the path by the apple store. I think you should use that tiny skinny dirt pathway and add some tables like it’s a micro park apple 🍏 put in for their employees but it’s like public space at the same time.

Maybe it'd be cool to combine the Grand Central Museum with the station and let it visually function as the main hall? The station itself kinda looks like it's just the platform hall, and maybe it'd go with the clock tower.

I just got a vr headset and I was trying to figure out what to do first. Then this popped up, and I knew.

One of the paths in the new city park that connects to the five way path intersection does not have a gate on it. This allows uncounted visitors to enter the park, slowing it's growth.

The clock tower would make a good centrepiece to the park

I really am loving this series! I think the park turned out great but you missed one side gate entry along the main road near the apple store.

Could be nice to have an elevated cargo line through the city kind of like the original train that made up the highline in nyc!

I would love to fill the park with all of the Community Pool, Outdoor Yoga Plaza, etc. Making it more of an urban park

    1. Instead of 'High Height' I would suggest to find a name for the Stadium that will be there and call it with the same name. (Ex. Here in Milan, the San Siro stadium give the name at his own area, who just surround the arena)
    2. The clock looks amazing, but I would love to see it in the middle of the park, visible from everywhere in the city (station, hospital, stadium ecc)
3 For the parking problem, as someone already suggested, try to look for some underground parking, it will help a lot without turning the city into a concrete block.
I'll wait for the nel episode, don't let us wait, you're warned ❤

Hi James! Not sure if you will read this however, am really enjoying this game play! I do have a game suggestion for you, if you like this game I suggest checking out ANNO 1800- it’s a really good strategic game about optimization and also encourage ‘beauty building’. Excited to see more of this gameplay though!
