The 1/3 artifact creature can double trigger Roots and Chalk Outline by targeting another creature in your grave. Should be a pretty high pick if you start going into this deck
The black and green creature graveyard manipulation archetype is so frustrating cuz it has the potential to be explosive and cool, but it takes so much work to set and so many things can go wrong quickly while you take turns off to set up the pieces
I've found it to work out for me more often than not. And it is awesome when you pop off. Are you picking gravestone striders and rubblebelt mavericks highly enough? Usually they're kinda mid -low picks but they are very important imo for the graveyard decks.
@@aosuibd I have not but it seems like I never quite see them in time
I've also never drafted the Golgari archetype personally. I drafted a Golgari pile but never got any of the signposts for the strategy
I feel like the 1-mana leech, wolf, and maverick were a bit underrated in this draft while the big disguise creatures were overrated
One of my biggest feel-good moments in this format was playing Izoni with outline and double roots on board.
Gorehound would have been so good here really surprised you didn’t even pick one
Wait, I never thought about using presumed dead to bring a face down card back face up! Holy shit
someone absolutely blew me out with roots + Polygraph Orb, it actually works pretty well in the right deck
Yeah polygraph orb has won me several games on its own, for a roots deck it’s a no brainer.
I'm surprised you didn't consider the Forensic Researcher at 6:01 as a repeatable collect evidence. Do you not like the card or did you not see it in the corner?
I was begging him to take it there, it's one of the few ways to trigger roots for free
ROOTS, BLOODY ROOTS!
Gravestone strider is probably THE most important creature for the roots deck. Significantly, it can trigger roots twice if you target a creature in your own graveyard
Thanks for great content everyday. Always fun and insightful.
I feel like you could have played the insidious roots on the turn you played slice in game 1, then used the creature mana to still slice and accelerate future turns
this is a huge note. probably would have changed the course of the whole game, having roots down that thurn
I managed to build a version of this deck that included Izoni, Kellan, double Chalk Outline and Insidious Roots. Absolutely devastating. People were just conceding once I had the engines in place and working.
I too lost to a deck that destroyed every enchantment I played.
The creature-leaving-graveyard synergy seems pretty tough to pull off. With that last opening hand, so much promise but the strategy seems to have a lot of moving pieces so anything can disrupt it. Good to know.
Nice deck, when it all goes off :)
Fun really matters!
I sorta wish Insidious root had some extra text like "Tap 20 mana, sacrifice Insidious Roots give +4/+4 , Trample and Deathtouch to all your creatures until the end of the turn."
Sweet build Kenji
You can get away with chalk outline with like 6-7 ways to trigger it, but you really want 10+ for roots to be good. It needs 2 triggers to feel okay, and 3 before you actually feel good about it.
Outside limited- Insidious Roots in a witch’s oven deck is absolutely insane.
Why not play the festerleech you drafted to fill the graveyard?
I haven't watched all the games yet, but I feel roots is extra weak to sideboard enchant removal in Bo3
Also, I usually have the best luck with like 3+ mavericks and 2+ strider, they really help make the deck work.
Nice vid as usual! At 15:48 why do not need to pay extra 2 mana for the ward?
"Can't be countered" means "Ward" is useless against it, since ward is in a way a counter.
gg ttsai!
How did that opponent cast that Leonin Relic Warder? I can't find anywhere in MKM or in the arena
It’s on the special guests list for MKM
Fixing over that inspector would have been great.
The only time I ectualy got destroyed by insidious roots was when my opponent had 2 of them in combination with a Cryptex. Roots is slow but when you can trigger it consistently every turn it becomes busted.
I pack 1 pick 2’ed this card @ the only MKM draft I did @ an LGS because the actual card (Insidious Roots) is worth like $2 lol
Is it just me or is Gnaw to the bone absolutely bonkers in such an aggressive format?
op curving natural 5c on basics into niv is brutal XD
I was looking for this comment and thinking the same damn thing like wtf
Play with your cat! They are meowing so loudly in the background
I think you might be talking about someone's arena pet lol
@@NumotTheNummyYT it was, lol. I didn't know arena had pets until you pointed it out and I saw the blue lion on the side of the screen.
LG
I never run 18 lands, it always seemed too easy to draw too many that way, in my opinion.
if you have a way to handle drawing extra lands (a lot of top deck manipulation like the green 1 drop or card filtering like projektor inspector), it can be extremely beneficial if you have a lot of disguise creatures or high cost cards, since you'll generally really want to ensure that you hit 5/6/7 lands on turn
This card is ruining constructed
