get this man to 1k subs and then 10K and 100k and so on. who the hell else is giving us this kind of info for free on the internet without an angle to try and upsell us on something?
Excellent video with a great deal of information, well done! I’d love to hear how the zenaq tobizo TC86-110 would stack up especially compared to the previous video of pe6 rods. I’d also love to hear about some of the 10ft casting rods available. Keep up the great work!!
I wouldn't have minded adding the Tobizo 86-110 in the mix, but given we already had the Zenaq Tobizo 84-100 and Zenaq Sinpaa in there, it was getting a little Zenaq centric in the comparison. Maybe a Zenaq only comparison would be a good way to go.
Thanks, we're pretty keen to run through a bunch of rod comparisons as time and rod availability permits. Because many of the brands we deal with are producing only small batches of rods, it can be a challenge to get all the models we'd like to discuss in-store at the one time, but we'll get there!
Big fan here Duncan. Subscribe since day 1. I will make couple suggestions hopefully constructive and from the admiration I have for you. 1. Pausing the video when the rod is loading at full screen will be amazing (Zenaq style) you know what I mean so flex depending on lure weight will be visible. 2.Aprox distance on cast for the different lure weights 3.PE used and leader used during testing (guessing is the same for all rods) will show how it affects the lure action depending on lure weight and action. 4.image of the lure action with the rod used with your comments on the background showing the action and rod performance (rather than you just talking to the camera) I think it will make a more vibrant video. Please don’t take this as a bad criticism, this comments come from love and respect. I just want your channel to grow as much as possible since I am craving for a more advanced angler content and I know you have the experience and knowledge to pull this one. Love and greetings from Timor Leste
How do you feel about tuna specific rods for GT stickbaiting? A lot of the Japanese companies like to have a stiffer GT lineup along with a more supple tuna lineup for longer fights. I really like my Ripple Fisher 87AS for smaller tuna lures and working 70-130 gram stickbaits, would it be a good tool for a medium stickbait setup (GT in the 15-35 KG range)? Or would another dedicated GT stickbait rod be recommended to compliment my Ripple Fisher 80 Reversal. Thanks a bunch.
Hi, you can definitely use tuna style rods for catching GT. The only downsides can be that the softer style tuna rods don't always set hooks as well or perform with the larger stickbaits as well as a dedicated GT style rod. So it will do the job, especially if you plan on using some smaller lures, to compliment larger lures on your heavier GT rod
We are planning on it. We have several models of PE 2-4 rods on their way to us right now, so we should have a nice little collection for a video in few weeks time
Duncan quick question: Between what guides does your FG knot sit on these rods for casting? I was told between the reel and first guide. Wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming!!
Hi! For most people the knot is between the reel and the first guide. For me the knot is on the reel. I always prefer the longer leader because my braid always gets quickly roughed up from the gloved finger that releases the line. Probably something to do with the way I release line on the cast - its not an issue for me with light line and no gloves. The longer leader does make me a little more prone to casting knots, but practicing a smooth load up and release on the cast alleviates this.
Hi, if you go to the description for the video it has links for all the rods on our website with the prices and more detailed descriptions. As this is a PE8 video, the rods will all suit PE 8 line, though some are more PE6-8, while others handle PE8-10 nicely. The leader strength depends on the target species, but I typically use up to 180lb leader on PE 8 lines. If you go heavier, I find the thickness of the leader relative to the braid causes more tip wraps and wind knots when casting.
Hi, Sorry for the late reply. It depends a lot on the size of lures you are using. If you are typically using poppers and stickbaits in the 120-160g range (similar to what many GT anglers use) then pretty much all of these rods are capable of doing the job. If you only use stickbaits and slim poppers with small cups, like many kingie anglers would, then a more stickbait oriented rod is going to make working the lures a lot easier. Something like CB One Enfinity 83/14 or FCL UCB 81MH Stickbait and UCB 85 Stickbait. The FCLs work great in the 90-190g cast weight range while the CB One is optimal in the 80-150g range.

Really loving the videos Duncan very informative keep up the great work !
Thanks, will do!
Excellent, clear, unbiased and informative
Much appreciated!
Great work there Duncan, can you do a video for pe 1-2?
Seconded. Onshore in Sydney I feel like a pe 8 setup might lead to bonito being shot out of the water and into space
@@cballz 😂 literally skull dragging its skull out of its head.

Thanks for the tips, they are much appreciated. We will try to incorporate them into out upcoming videos :)
Yes distance is quite important
Excellent videos, thanks Duncan. Could you do a comparison between travel and two piece rods in terms of their performance?
Thanks for the suggestion we are planning on covering that in an upcoming video on Travel Rods.
@fishheadtackle what PE line weight is your recommendation for casting 60grams up to 180grams? Much appreciated.
