So I know you said you like to make your splits equal. But I’m questioning if your old Queen keeps the foragers how could you off set the splits so that both colonies would averagely meet at the same strength four to six weeks later from the time you make the split.

So I’m thinking because you making your split equal in resources and aged brood. But the old Queen keeps the foragers. In a month I’m gonna have to equalize my whole yard?

We often requeen everything when we split, so no one has the old queen. But, if you do leave the old queen, you can give the "old queen hive" one less frame of brood. Or, you could leave the split in the original location to collect more foragers and move the split with the old queen.
