He’s the kind of guy to reverse wound his low e string because it “adds more tension” and play a right handed guitar upside down even though it gives him less higher fret access and ergonomics. I really love his playing style, performance skill, showmanship and music but I just don’t understand why he is considered a great musician/guitarist or even the best.

Jimi had a lot of pent up and subdued anger. There are tons of stories of how verbally, and sometimes physically, abusive he was when he drank. It's why he stopped drinking and turned to other drugs. It's really par for the course though. All the greatest artists are people who are internally tortured. On acid, he was noted to be very placid, if not dismissive of others. There's a story, related by Mitch Mitchell, about an episode where the band members and a few friends were all hanging out and on acid. There was always tension between Hendrix and JHE bassist Noel Redding. According to Mitchell, Redding was trying to talk to Hendrix about band matters and having more creative influence. Hendrix was pretty much paying him no attention and just kept playing his guitar. Redding apparently became furious, started screaming, grabbed a kitchen knife and chased Hendrix around the apartment. He locked himself in the bathroom while the other party goers attempted to calm Redding down. There's something of an esoteric reference to this event in the song Voodoo Child (Slight Return). At around the 3:50 mark, during an instrumental segment, the words "I don't take no more acid, especially with Noel" can be heard. Just some interesting Jimi trivia. Do with it what you like.

He was so humble and sweet. He's still considered the best and he's sitting there in this interview talking about why he made alot of mistakes. This is a great side of him to be exposed to alot of people. Here he was sitting next to "father knows best". He deserves all of the accolades he's been given. A great guy. When I first heard his music on Electric Ladyland I was stunned. The music was so different from anything I had ever heard. It was so great. I was blown away.
Hendrix changed my life at 12 years old. Purple Haze was my first song, and here I am 25 years later still playing. Bless you Jimi, I'll never give up the love for this instrument.
He is one of the biggest lost on this planet, he died too young, I believe that his impact and presence is within the music he left to us, he is among us not only on our memories but when we play his notes we bring him back to life!! Thank you Lord for letting us know about Jimi!

I read his biography. God, he had such a hard,deprived and painfully poor motherless upbringing. His mom would come by make he and brother pancakes now and then and they adored her. Sadly,his father didn't and she died before Jimi was an adult. Very sad childhood.❤️

You are correct, the mass of talent was created by the demand for live music. Thus garage bands formed and purchased instruments with the money they made. Whereas today almost nobody wants live music and getting started is much harder.

I don't think he felt he was legend at all. Part of his mystique after all these years is simply because he died so young. If he lived a full life I guarantee he would not be held in the reverence he is today, its just human nature. Same with Cobain, he was just NOT good as everyone feels his was. Jimi Hendrix made me want to pick up a guitar. Then after listening to him play for a while, it made me want to put it down and slowly back away from the instrument.
When Jimmy was in the Army his Seargent told him, "If you spent half as much time learning to be a soldier as you do playing that damn guitar you would be the best soldier in the Army."
Did you know that he told the Army he was gay, just so he could get out!! Lol. It was still illegal back then, but he got an honorable discharge!! Smart man,lol. He hated how he was treated
Jimi Hendrix was a very sensitive guy. Very creative. Manic depressive. Up and down. He was known by his friends for having a great sense of humour. He didn't think he was very good. He was also a lovely poet. He was all about the feeling in his music and expressing what was in your soul. Every other guitarist knew him to be pretty much the best guitarist in rock. He died in 1970 and I still hear people playing his music in the street, 50 years later. He was unique. He stood alone. And he was only in his twenties. Unbelievable talent.
No mistakes Jimi, just your soul pouring out to the world through your guitar. I can only imagine what you and all of us missed by your leaving so soon. A star went dark in the sky on that fateful day. I still remember it, and listen to your music with the joy and enthusiasm of my youth ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Jimi Hendrix was a very sensitive guy. Very creative. Manic depressive. Up and down. He was known by his friends for having a great sense of humour. He didn't think he was very good. He was also a lovely poet. He was all about the feeling in his music and expressing what was in your soul. Every other guitarist knew him to be pretty much the best guitarist in rock. He died in 1970 and I still hear people playing his music in the street, 50 years later. He was unique. He stood alone. And he was only in his twenties. Unbelievable talent.
No mistakes Jimi, just your soul pouring out to the world through your guitar. I can only imagine what you and all of us missed by your leaving so soon. A star went dark in the sky on that fateful day. I still remember it, and listen to your music with the joy and enthusiasm of my youth ❤❤❤❤❤❤
