We had a five day land tour before our cruise in 2016. The tour guide was showing everyone her moose poop ear rings. We were just outside of Fairbanks in North Pole Alaska in a gift shop selling moose poop ear rings. The tour guide made sure that all of the ladies could find a pair to bring home with them!
We have been discussing this since you posted yesterday and don’t know whether to be disgusted they turned moose poop into earrings or impressed that you entire tour group bought them. Question: did you do the tour as part of the cruise or did you plan a separate tour before the cruise? Emma and Jack
We were on a 5 day land tour before our southbound cruise. We had 2 days in Fairbanks looking at a gold dredge and a stop at a sled dog kennel that was started by Susan Butcher and she was the first female to win the Iditarod! From there we were on the Alaska railroad to Denali and a day later on to Anchorage. We went to the A Alaska Zoo. We went to the train station to check in to the cruise and board the "Cruise Train" to the ship in Seward. The ear rings you would have to see to appreciate them! The idea is disgusting but they sell a lot of them! Great video! Before the recent Alaskan cruise our daughter was in Alaska with the Air Force. The base is in the Anchorage area and she and other Airmen went fishing in Seward. They caught a lot of fish and one halibut that they split and sent home. We have a piece from the halibut in the freezer. The other fish was great. Take care Jack
Thanks for replying! Thank you to your daughter for her service! The fish you get up there tastes so much better than what we get in the lower 48! The people that took us fishing also gave us some salmon and it’s delicious! What did you think of the land portion? We have heard mixed reviews on it! Almost did it but decided to do it on our own.
Anchor Point tractor haul fishing. Yes, I’ve done that!
It was definitely a unique experience for us.
I bet that fish is amazing!
It is amazing and our deep freeze is full to the brim!
