This is a great suite to have a listen to when you need cheering up. Lightweight? Probably, but then its subject is entertainment. More important, however, is the infectious and incredibly skilled orchestral writing which appeals to me immensely.

When I was a little lad, I would ask my dad to play this on his excellent Hi-Fi system. And pretty soon we were all dancing around. I think it's one of the most beautifulest pieces of music ever it's whimsical and silly and bombastic and funny but that one waltz is so beautiful and has a bit of a foreshadowing of Philip glass' music
