  • With a serious lumber delivery due in the near future I needed somewhere safe to store it. I also was incredibly surprised by the generous gift of a Dewalt Jobsite Table Saw! In this video I assemble it and test it out!

You've worked so hard getting this far... not just the grueling hot labor, the process of adjusting to the harsh desert conditions, the research and planning from before you chose your land, but also the extra effort and hours to make these videos for us. God bless you and the ministering angels who step in to help you.

16:53 safety tip: the push stick is used to the right of the blade between the blade and the fence. It’s purpose (besides finger safety when cutting thinner pieces) is to push the cut piece through past the blade so it doesn’t bind between the blade and the fence, as well as prevent the cut piece from being kicked back during a bind.

I generally use a plastic container to put the nuts, bolts, ect in at each stage of a build. This is to try and not drop them on the floor or ground. In your case with the blowing wind, that container would have to be heavier glass, like a pyrex bowl. Bowl is even better if the inside is white.
Thank you to your very nice gift givers for making Don's life easier.

I laughed a little when you said the work doesn't get done by imagining it's done. That's obvious of course, but more than once I've imagined my plans so thoroughly that I had to remind myself it wasn't built yet, and I'd better get to work! I use pallets for storing good wood. And yes, that twisted lumber is horrible and plentiful, even when you store it nicely.

Thanks coyotetech55. I am hoping to use the lumber so quickly it doesnt have time to do weird and wonderful things like that 80s band Twisted Sister.

Perfect video portraying important details of self building. A good place for unloading supplies a must. I will never forget unloading 30 large sheets of wallboard on pallets lying on newly pre-built gravel road at 62. Later covered with 3 layers of secured plastic sheeting. God bless the givers, who gifted you the saw. Prayers for your safety.

lol, oh Don, you are so funny. Firstly, what a wonderful gift, right? Big hugs to the sender of this magnificent gift! and I love your having to look in your shoe. So I am not the only one that misplaces, drops, searches for dropped parts, I feel a camaraderie with you now, lol. I actually read everything first, I watch a TH-cam on how to put it together ( there's always someone who has done it) and then I lay out all the parts, match the inventory list and check it off. Yes, that is why it takes me FOREVER and a DAY to put anything together, but I know I have zero intuition as to how to put things together, so I have to do it the long way. So good to see you and thanks for sharing your journey! Your fans are on it with you🥰👋👋👍👍

As usual Don .You are really quite diligent in all of the work you do .As they say " if a jobs worth doing it`s worth doing well ".Indeed you should always follow the instructions .In the past I have been guilty of thinking that I would be well capable of assembling various flat packed items without reading the instruction and found to my dismay that i have missed something and had to disassemble the item to fit something that i should have fitted near the beginning of the process. Some tools with armature motors don't care if they are running on DC or AC electric. You can take 3, 4, or 5 100 watt solar panels and connect them in series. This will run blenders, drills, most vacuum cleaners when the sun is well up. Since solar panels get a lot of watts from ultraviolet light, the wattage wont soar until the middle of the day.

Hi Don!!!! You look great today!!!
I see your hamming it up in front of the camera!!!😝
That was very generous of Josh and amada to send that very nice equipment. that's my cheap either.. But be safe with that saw, I've seen people get injured, Not good.
I'd trade that car in on a pickup Don?? We're still looking at land options in Arizona yet, haven't nailed anything down yet.
we're looking between Concho and Show low.
    Won't be long.
we're anxious to leave Pennsylvania. Tell me Don?
When you first step on land you own, is it like stepping on the Moon for the first time???
I believe it will be for us too.
Don .. you be safe.. All the Best❤😉👍🎶🎵💞

Thanks so much for the super encouragement and cautions. Duly noted. Re: the pickup, its way beyond my budget at the moment. Re: First stepping on your own land and what it feels like? I hope my first videos project what I was thinking and feeling about it all. I had birded and visited Arizona before so it wasnt that strange really. Just a new adventure. I would scope out the area and walk properties and hang out in Arizona before making any decisions. I had concerns of course but then life always has that. But by far owning my own land seems still to me like a miracle. Hope that helps.

that saw is designed mostly for cabinet building and trim work , and long cutting panels and and furniture building , cutting small pieces will hurt you and and also no long sleeve shirts and bagy clothes or other loose items that catch the blade and pull you into it, also sharp blade make the job easier and smoother , that blade is lethal and will cut a finger or hand off in a split second, no distractions while your using the saw , also big thick gloves can be a problem too , think it threw and plan every cut before you cut till you get use to using it, for framing a house you need a 12 inch mitre saw, and real good quality circular saw and a good selection of diferent hand saws , it looks like a fun saw to operate and you can build all kind of really nice things if you use it correctly, but that SAW will HURT you!!! be extremely careful and good building , you dont need luck , you need skill which can be developed with time

Whenever I try to assemble something without looking at the instructions, I end up having to take things apart to correct an assembly mistake. I’ve done that so many times in my life. I always look at the directions now.

Thats the way to do it for sure. These instructions seemed odd and confusing to me. Maybe my senior brain gets easily scrambled LOL.

Can’t crosscut using your rip fence as you did. The saw will bind and you will get HURT! Use the fence to rip and your miter to crosscut. If you want to use the fence to measure a crosscut and to make repeatable cuts, just put a space between the board and the fence. Clamp the board and then remove the spacer before cutting.

Please and I repeat PLEASE, watch a video or go to a wood shop and learn how to use a Table saw. The way you cut that board is VERY WRONG and can cause you much harm. I'm not criticizing you put I've seen the harm those type saws can do. Hope you heed this advice and what other have said about this safety issue. Have a safe build

So here is my issue.......It is no secret that these types of products have HORRIBLE directions.
If you make a million of them there has to be a cost to adding those horrible directions to the box.
Why not just have someone create a step by step TH-cam video how to assemble it? it costs literally nothing and it has to be better than the horrible instructions they put in the box. Just saying....

I noted that a few folks did indeed put out youtube videos on this saw and so I watched them after not being able to figure out some of the first steps. I dont think they put a lot of thought into their instruction manuals. But super glad it all came together just fine. Thanks for watching.
