@Andrés Zapata extract the audio file and put it in a spectrogram. sometimes the audio comes out in such a way that the sound produces an image when viewed. (when it comes to ARGs this is (one of) the oldest trick(s) in the book.)
Did you know that the fake Ancient Statue has its eyes glow blue, and it can levitate. It also had antennae, so it may be alien.

Our species is human, our genus is man, our family is ape (shared with chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, etc.), our order is primate (shared with monkeys), our class is mammal (shared with cats, dogs, horses, rodents, whales, etc.), our phylum is chordate (shared with fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles, etc.), our kingdom is animal (shared with insects, mollusks, sponges, etc) and our domain is eukaryote (shared with plants, fungi and protists). The farther you go up the biological tree, the older our common ancestor is. And yes, we share a common ancestor with plants.

I had a theory about the player character that could kinda link to this: the player is an experiment - perhaps one done by the aliens. Maybe they're trying to bring back the humans that might be extinct (in the museum there isn't a spot for 'human' in the species section in the fossil area). But when you (the player) go to the spot the human should be, it lights up. Perhaps the player is being is being brainwashed to believe that they ARE a human. I believe the experiment is being contained in the small island, along with other experiments, explaining why the animals also don't look 'normal'. The same programs are on the TV every week and it's always the same type of music - no new music is 'produced' like in our world.

The gyroids could be connected. While Lloid or any other Gyroid has showed up, they have been mentioned in data mines. There's also the fact that there based of Haniwa, humanoid statues that are buried with people in Japan. But I think the weirdest thing is the villager Coco, who's based off a gyroid.

I remember Coco. A cool and creepy character. She was in one of my first plays on the Gamecube back in the day. Very cool about the gyroids. Never knew about the Haniwa being buried with people, or that Coco was based on a gyroid. You learn something new every day.

When you wake up Gulliver on the beach he will say something like “Don’t take me back to space, it’s cold and dark”.
With the 2.0 update, we know Gulliver has crewmates according to Katrina. So it's possible he actually does sail on a ship for his job, but he gets abducted so often that his crewmates are just tired of dealing with him. It's possible he gets abducted in the dead of night and his crew thinks he fell overboard. He definitely does seem to land in the water a lot, or at least gets dropped next to the water to look like he washed ashore.
When I watched this, it got me thinking about certain villagers that are living objects such as Stitches or Hopkins (living teddy bear and rabbit sized and shaped inflatable respectively). Maybe lucky could come under this too but he's probably more related to Jack than Aliens

I couldn't find the cleanest audio (literally just some random person's footage of it), but the spectrogram didn't look like anything.
With the 'No-one could really be their true self' part it would explain how there are duplicates of other villagers on islands, shape shifting aliens taking a loveable shape

I think the audio is in animalesse, (or the language the animal crossing characters speak) if somebody smart enough code decode it, then we could put this mystery to rest
its probably to distorted to find out what its actually saying. normal animalese is just the letters of the words said out loud and sped up, and idk if it would be possible to make out the letters

I like to think during one of his abductions, Gulliver somehow stole a UFO and that's why he has one in WW and CF. Maybe he somehow lost it (probably in a crash) and went back to sailing in New Leaf. The broadcast is a PSA in search of the stolen ship lol.
Unfortunately, now that he's permanently back on Earth, the aliens easily tracked him down and his abductions have started again.
Alien abduction would also explain why his crewmates seem so reluctant to pick him up. They're scared of the aliens. They know exactly what's happening to Gulliver, but don't want him to freak out so they don't say anything, making it seem like he had an accident and felll off the boat.
On a technicality, in New Horizons, the player themself is a shapeshifter, because all it takes is a mirror or vanity to be able to change your appearance. Not just hairstyle and color, but eye color, eye SHAPE, nose shape, mouth shape, and even swap between male and female, all whenever you want. From gameplay perspective, I get that it's so you aren't locked into whatever you chose at the beginning, and I myself switch between playing as a boy and a girl from time to time.
This, coupled with the fact that emotes are unknown to the player until a villager *teaches* you them - seemingly while knowing you don't know the particular one they're teaching you at the time - leads me to personally believe that we, the players, are actually the aliens.
I could believe that we're aliens. I mean after all, we're able to use magic wands to change our outfits on the spot... Sort of like shape shifting
And we can use mirrors to literally change our eyes, hair, mouth nose, skin colour, etc...

In either new leaf or city folk, Gulliver appears as a traveler. He washes up on ur shore with amnesia forgetting where he was going. he would give a description of where he was going, and u would help him figure it out. Gulliver's role is remniscent of his previous role

I met Gulliver in new horizions.
I was planning to build a new bridge, so i started getting money.
I went to the beaches and collected coral and seashells, when i saw him lying on the beach. I tried talking with him 6 times, but i gave up. When i came back next day, he was no longer there.

Theory: Our villager is an alien from an old earth that humans destroyed. Our villager probaly crash landed on the island and believed that he or she is a normal villager and the aliens or humans are trying to find a inhabital planet
I have a point against our character being an Alien: there are some lines in the game where characters refer to us as "Humans". They literally call us human.

I remember finding the alien ship on animal crossing wild world for DS, had no idea what the heck it was and had no slingshot to shoot it with, I still remember it happening and my friends at school thought i was insane

Inklings and Octolings aren't aliens, they are hyper-evolved Squids and Octopus respectively. During the announcement for the Squids vs Octopus Splatfest, Marina mentions that Octopus are extinct, which plays into the lore that Squids and Octopus evolved to survive on land after all mammals went extinct due to humankind's arrogance causing a chain of events that ended them all getting killed or eaten.

What if the player is the alien, an alien who crash landed on earth and has no memories of whats going on, who they are, etc. Why the player gives them a name and a life. The message is to them, asking them to come home, but they can't understand it because we don't understand their past life

Hey swanky, I saw in a video that with the use of bee mario on the smg2 credits you’re able to die and in doing so, the camera pans up as the death is caused via a high death plane but i saw what seemed to be peach’s castle and another small area loaded in high above, care to give them a look for a future video???
A theory I put together after watching this is that our characters are like Gulliver. We’re brainwashed into thinking we are human characters. We could be misinterpretations of humans, which explains the human anatomy furniture piece and the skeleton furniture piece. Above all, these messages were meant for us, but only the ones who wish to learn about their true form. This may or may not be true, idk.

I love the Easter Egg of how one of his quotes has him quoting the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening. Sometimes, when you find him, much like him possibly mentioning spaceships, one of his quotes will be:
"Verily, it is the nature of dreams to end."
And when he finally wakes up, the character apparently questions him on it, because he says something along the lines of:
"Huh? "What was all that 'dream' talk"? I'm not really sure, I think I heard a fish say it once."

What if K.K. Slider is an alien, too? First off, every villager is obsessed with his music and they listen to it whenever they get a chance. Could he have brainwashed the villagers with his music? Where does he take us when he performs a song every Saturday? A void that possibly resembles outer space? (Also, the Aliens show their broadcast on Saturday at 3:33 A.M., K.K. Slider takes requests Saturday at 6:00 P.M... Coincidence?) Why was getting K.K. Slider to perform such a big deal to Tom Nook? Tom Nook may be brainwashed and. trying to brainwash us... The only ones who are currently "free"... When K.K. Slider talks to us on the first day in our dream, is he trying to lure us away from all other beings so we can get trapped on an island without help?

i kinda like the theory that gulliver might be an alien but my take on him is that he's sort of an alcoholic and his crewmates never really liked him that much. so when gulliver is finally getting on their nerves, the crewmates throw him off the ship until he gets stranded on your island. and when he gets his communicator to work again, he sends messages to his crewmates to pick him up but they never quite respond to his messages right away or just blatantly ignore him, leaving gulliver stuck in your island until 5 a.m. the next day. i doubt that his 'friends' even try to pick him up at 5 and i think gulliver might just return to his ship alone, using a raft or asking the dodos for help? gulliver is a really sad character and the way that he's so positive his friends are just playing some stupid pranks on him makes me pity him even more. i'd rather adopt him and have him as my neighbor to keep him company :(

I think that the characters we control are aliens because they might actually not be human but are shape shifting to look like a human
I recently thought that the player character is an alien in the AC world. It would explain why they are the only human in a game filled with animals. Makes me wonder who our parents who write letters to us exactly are. Maybe they are humans just like us, or are adoptive animals parents like something out of Superman. Maybe the aliens are trying to contact to take us home and keep looking for locals to question where we are but just keep on running to Gulliver?
Also, watching this at 4 AM was probably not the best idea....

He makes a reference to Paper Mario 64 as well, in the original entry, mentioning he left his pet goldfish in Toad Town.

i mean, we could try to enter our fellow villagers' houses to see who's watching the alien broadcast, buuuut the only thing stoping us to do so is keyholes.
4:53 i put it on .75x speed and after it says mission it may say “is underway” so maybe the mission (whatever it may be) has already started. However if it does say this it doesn’t make sense, because it happens every Saturday. What my theory is, is that this whole alien operation was supposed to be a secret. This is a sort of check in for another alien, but it gets intercepted by the tv and we hear the message as well. Idk about Gulliver though, if anyone has any ideas about how he could be connected to a secret mission let me know.

Gulliver is a traveler of worlds, like how the Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels (forgive me if I misspelled the book's name...) was. Except in AC's Gulliver's case, he travels Nintendo's worlds. Him getting abducted by aliens isn't too far a stretch.

A year late, but I think if there's any logic behind why our characters look the way that they do, it's a result of evolution. That could also be said about the animal villagers. For example, the birds (yellow bird, and owl) that fly onto your bulletin board basically look like birds you'd see in real life, but exist alongside bird villagers, and also Blathers, and Celeste. I think the humans that are referenced in paintings and sculptures do still exist in the world of Animal Crossing. We just never get to see them.
The real question is what happened to the original villagers
I haven't seen anyone mention this so just in case I'll put this out there. 3:33 is a reference to real life ufology, I wanna say it was started by Mike Clelland but he might have gotten it from others. It's supposedly a time when lots of alien activity happens irl. So not just a random spooky time chosen by nintendo!
Well, weirdly enough there is something called the "witching hour" or also "devil hour". It is said to be at 3 AM and for this to be the time when strange or unexplainable events happen such as paranormal or otherwordly things. Funny how that time is only a little over half an hour later. On top of that 3:33 has significance anyway, because there are these numbers called "master numbers" which are generally a sequence of a number repeating itself. That goes from 11 all the way up to 99 and the more the number sequence grows, the more significance it has. 111 has more significance than 11 for example and it is said that if you see those master numbers over and over again, the universe is trying to relay an important message to you. All the master numbers even have their seperate meanings. 33 has the title of "master teacher".
