I flew Taag in 2017 from Johannesburg to Lisbon with a 4 hour layover in Luanda. I remember the landing in Lisbon being particularly right. Pilot basically slammed plane into runway instead of landing it.
Excelente trabalho do ATC ao perceber que o B777 não faz hold short rwy 20. Muito bom momento a registar o trabalho do ATC a zelar pela segurança das flighs operations no ground. Parabéns pelo vídeo 👍👍
This type of pilots is a danger for world aviation, who do not seem to speak “Portuguese”, or “English” (which is even more serious), and who do not understand the control tower well, or who do not study the airports where they travel regularly, since TAAG flies to Portugal every day!
The aircraft should have returned to stand and the issue investigated, instead of clearing it for flight. Who knows they might ignore another instruction and hit another aircraft midair...
I could not hear TAAG's instruction readback. I do not believe they said they would hold short of runway 20. Fail on TAAG. ATC did not catch that they did not read back runway hold short instructions and provide the instruction again. Fail on ATC. Shame the engine noise muffled the TAAG comms to confirm they did or did not read back correctly. Either way, good catch by ATC. ATC did NOT provide clear enough instruction (see my edit below) and SOP should be updated. The flight deck should have also looked and visually cleared the runway, however visibility was very poor and approaching aircraft is barely visible even on the go around. This was a big catch. I was waiting for the possible pilot deviation phone number for the crew to call. :) EDIT: LIS ATC comm procedures need to be updated. It can be confusing when holding for the same runway twice in a taxi route. TAAG probably missed and assumed they were cleared to cross and hold at the holding point at the departure end. Thus, a suggestion would be for ATC instruction to say "hold short of runway 20 at [taxiway X]" (A6 in this case). That way the crew knows there are distinct and different points and knows the EXACT intersection to hold.
Well observed and analyzed! The TAG crew indeed did not read back, and ATC did not specify the visual holding point. I hope someone from NAV Portugal will come to the same conclusion and update the procedures.
Hi. There was no miscommunication and no low visibility. TAAG pilots messed up, ignored the hold runway 20 from the ATC. Simple. ATC reacted instantly and avoided a major incident.
The ATC did it right and clear... hold short rwy 20. So the the flight crew of the B777 was not cleared to cross the ative runway because the TAP Portugal aircraft was on short final about to land
That was a GREAT catch by ATC to keep an eye on Angola. Excellent. Terrific spot!! Thanks!
@babygrrlpc5057 , yes it was a great job by the ATC. He prevented a major accident.
Excelente edição e belo trabalho do ATC!!
Olá Pedro. Obrigado. É mesmo, não fosse a pronta reacção do ATC provavelmente teria outro desfecho este incidente.

Brilliant catch mate 👏 someone made a big mistake!
Hi Mark. Thanks🙏
Excelente Catch! Ser ATC não é nada fácil… mínimo descuido é o suficiente
Olá Filipe. Obrigado. É verdade, excelente trabalho e atenção do ATC neste incidente que podia ter tido outras proporções. Abraço

This aviation incident should be reported and investigated. I hope some procedure will change.
Hi @mirceamihai8792 , all incidentes are investigated. Let's hope something will change like you said. Thank you.
Mais um episódio brilhante da TAAG
Olá. É verdade. Enfim.
Oh well what we can say! . 🤔😰 Good catch ATC.
I know, right?

Grandes vedetas da aviação angolana... 😂
@as6978
Now the question is...who is the fault? Pilot or the ATC, because looks like a miscommunication or maybe distraction and low visibility ?
