Apprrciate the great detailed video i had 2 reels where the anti reverse wouldnt work so i finally opened them up after watching your video and just like that back in operation with a good cleaning, thanks 👍.
Upon close examination I discovered that the friction from the spindle that acts as a clutch has worn a notch in the cast control cap. The notch is deep enough to prevent contact with the spindle. A drop of epoxy in the notch restores the original function. Cap replacement is also an option. Thanks
Yes it does! I always wonder how the do it at the manufacturer. Those parts seem to float with he A/R dog needing balance when the rest is installed. I am thinking they have a trick, or maybe they put the star adjuster on too! Thanks
I’ve got one of these Magda Pro ma 30dx reels to work on. Never worked on one before. Needs line pawl replaced. I noticed that the worm shield has a lot of movement from side to side. Just wondering if this is normal?
Very nice video. However you did not address the clutch system on the cast control. I have two of these reels. Neither one is castable because tightening the spool tension knob does not slow the spool. Any suggestions?
Hmmm - That adjuster is the only thing you have. Check to make sure that the cap is seated properly and not cross-stripped. If you have a lot of room from the bottom of the cap to the side plate, it should have more room to tighten down.
I would send it back under warranty and not mess with it. It could be a number of issues, which you do not need to deal with if you just took it out of the box - Dennis
My trip button spring came off not like your on here is in a hole in lever stub other fits in a hole on side wall how the heck do you hold that spring in place
You install the eccentric with the spring from underneath and hook it into the hole without any tension on the spring. Once the spring is in place, you can turn the eccentric to set it properly and then attach the button. - Dennis
I had the same problem and fixed it today. Check if the trip button is cracked. I had another old Magda 30dxt that I stole the trip switch from. I’m now going to get the broken one into a set of vice grips with some gorilla glue. Hope this helps
"When I scroll my Magda Pro, the metal guide only moves from right to left and gets stuck on the left side. Normally, it should move evenly from side to side to wrap the thread tightly. Why is this happening? I took it apart to check, but didn't find any issues."
It is most likely that the line guide pawl inside the cap of the level wind arm is either dirty or that one of the tips is damaged. You would need to replace the pawl to correct the issue. Watch this videos to see how to diagnose the issue th-cam.com/video/MyY1rDiWgp8/w-d-xo.html. You can call the Okuma service department is California to get a replacement pawl - Dennis

Great to hear and happy to help. Thanks for the note - Dennis
Nice tip with the star wheel to keep the main in place during reassembly..
Glad it was helpful! This reel is a tough balancing act. If you have one, be careful putting it back together - Thanks Dennis

Reinstalling the star drag and handle helps with the Okuma Convector and Cold Waters too.

Your new board is starting to take on a nice patina.
Yes it is! It is a hard yellow pine, but it is not oak, which was what the last one was. Enjoy
Thanks I have one of those reels and wondered how I would clean and service it when needed.
Glad I could help. Thanks for the note and for watching - Dennis
It would have been nice to show them how to take the worm gear out clean and replace. It would like a new reel after that.
This was a normal service and you do not need to remove the worm gear when servicing this reel. Thanks

Thank you for the video. Would you recommend a place to purchase parts, I'm looking to replace the black carbon fiber washers.
yes - try smoothdrag.com. Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle Hi Dennis, What reel would be your pick for an economical line counter trolling reel for walleyes? A smaller size reel. Thanks
I would go with an Okuma Magda pro line counter reel. They are usually under $50 and are dependable
I got a new okuma reel just like this one but right out of the box the traveller doesn't do anything on that worm gear, what's up with that?
I would send it back under warranty and not mess with it. It could be a number of issues, which you do not need to deal with if you just took it out of the box - Dennis
How does this reel compare to the similar looking Shakespeare reel?
Inside they are nearly identical. I assume you are referring to the Shakespeare Agility reel - Thanks - Dennis
Why didn't you oil the bearing on the handle side ?
Hmmm - I will need to check. It may have been edited out - Thanks - Dennis

@@2ndChanceTackle thank you what a pain in the hinder
The biggest problem with these Akuma’s is the trip button to let the Leino quit working and then you gotta use a drag to let the liner
That trip button is a problem on a lot of bait casting reels. Thanks for the note - Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle I'm dealing with this exact problem right now. Is there a quick repair?

@@2ndChanceTackle thanks sir. I know what can I do .
@@2ndChanceTackle ok ,I will try to fix it! Tks
That one looked harder to service than a normal multiplier. Great video though.
Yes it was. Poor design for sure.
