Thanks for sharing this! I woke up early this morning and put this on because I thought it might lull me back to sleep. But it turned out to be a really good interview - he’s interesting but not “on”/performing. Excellent snapshot of Robyn in 1990 with (as usual) some great insights.
I don't think you need to have gone through Further Education, be white and dear I say middle-class to be able to understand this music. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it. I found it similar to the comment that Dhani Harrison made about Beatle fans not "getting" his music. Dhani, Beatle fans DON'T just listen to Beatle music. It's a risky comment when the majority of the people buying the "product" will be Beatle fans.
These girls are so bad at interviewing it’s an instant classic. One girl asked..to paraphrase “ Were you surprised the record company let you put out an album like this and where are you surprised or were you expecting anybody to come out and hear you play after buying the album and what other songs do you do to get them to stay?”

Thanks for posting this. Interesting to hear Robyn's mindset at the time. I was at the Bogart's show and made a fairly listenable recording of it.
I never went to university (and just engineering college) but you DID get straight to my heart Robyn. Straight there, where so many others did not...
Hey I was at this concert! Bogarts! The Reds won the World Series in Oakland that night.
Yes they did. A memorable evening all around 🙂
I'm glad I had Robyn's old tunes when I was young
I love the way he thinks.
"Hopefully in another five years, I'll be around."
He released Eye around this time. His best album.
He's never lost his spark... the songs highlight this. Keep on rockin...or folking, if that's a word
Thank you for posting this!
i think i saw this show way back in 1990 at bogarts.
13:45 There was a time when the most popular group in the world was also the most talented. True.
Down to earth. Cerebral...and funny as hell.
^_^ I'm so impressed by this dude.
Suzanne is the new Paul
Simon is not wrong. She
covered (very nicely) with
the Bangles his Shade of
Winter song.

I prefer East Grinstead.

How does anybody know, we are still living.?
What's the name of the person interviewing?
Careamel?
I not interested in Sports
either, which alienates me
from other guys, but to each
his own. Forgive the cliche.
