Thank you for the video. I've been away from SolidWorks for a couple years and have a spiral stair for a client. This video saved me time!!

+Intercad The tapered spiral staircase at the start of the video. How do you get the Tangent to Curve steps going around the changing radius of the tapered helix? I notice that you have two helices. Is this required for the Curve Driven Pattern? Basically I can't get the face to select for the Face Normal box. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If i understand correctly you are referring to the CDP on the first feature. You need only one helix path, all you have to do is click the CDP feature assign helix for path, check equal spacing, then click the 1st part. Make sure you assign it to the bodies to pattern, then check the tangent curve and click the face normal box first before clicking the face of the 1st part. By doing this steps I hope you make the spiral stairs.

Nice tutorial but......at 5 mins when you make the 3D sketch, pick helix and convert entity, you seem to be able to extend it afterwards. How do you do this?! I have clearly missed something here!

I'm creating spiral stairs for 90 degrees. I want the first step to start at say 0 and then the last step to end right at 90. Basically I want all the stairs to fall within the 90 degree pie piece with the first stair starting right at 0 and the last stair ending right at 90. Is there an easy way of doing this? I've been trying to figure out if I can calculate the spacing needed and the revolution to accomplish this.

    edit sketch (helix 3dsketch),
near the end of the helix use right click an then split entities
erase the relation of the splitted
    and then you can extend

How do you do a tangent curved driven pattern if sw NEVER lets you fucking select a face to go normal to? I have re-drawn my treads, curves, cirlces and everything a thousand times but when it comes to selecting the god damn face to go tangent to the curve, it just never selects the face I'm picking and nothing ever happens. Ready to rip my fucking hair out!
