I'm getting induced tonight (April 30th 2021) at 10pm. I'm honestly not even nervous anymore, just anxious and excited. This is my first baby (Miracle baby) I was told I couldn't have kids, I also have PCOS and I was infertile. This just proves that just because a doctor tells you one thing, its up to God to make the true decisions. Congratulations to everyone who are also having their first baby 💚 I'm gonna need mommy friends lol

    Me again 👋🏼
Had a successful induction that started Monday afternoon. Got the balloon put in and progressed to 4cm overnight. Labored for two hours and got to 6cm. Decided on an epidural. It failed 😭. Had them redo it and labored another few hours. Baby would not move down. My OB told us to try the rock n roll method. Basically rolled me on my side and put the opposite leg in the stirrup and hubby rocked me a little aggressively. About 30 minutes later, we did the same thing to the other side. Went from 6 to 10 in an hour! Practiced pushing for 15 minutes, and then 15 minutes of real pushing and our little one was here! Your videos helped me so much and I watched them while I labored. You’re the best!

I watched this video because I was so nervous about being induced. The doctors used that balloon and I felt o was familiar with it and it was a good idea. These things are worth mentioning, so women can make informed decisions.

I got the epidural and 2.5 hours later I was dialated to a 10 then 20 minutes later my water broke and 40 minutes later my baby was born! I did not need pitocin. I had all 4 methods. I was almost 42 weeks along when I went into the hospital. I was 1.5cm so they placed the small little white pill in my cervix. A few hours later I was given the option to have a foley bulb..for me it was very painful I was not dilating at all so they struggled getting that sucker in! It took a few tries. It felt so worth it though once the bulb fell out and they told me I was 4.5cms. I checked into the hospital on a Sunday evening and had those first 2 steps done the same night. Monday morning the bulb had already dropped out like i said I was at 4.5cm so they starter pitocin. Around noon time I started having some contractions and around 5.5cm I got the epidural. I wasn't dilating much in a few hours I was having contractions but only was at 7cm. My OB broke my water and it seemed like we were almost there when all of a sudden drs rushed in and said honey we have to get you on your knees we'll hold you. Your babies heart rate is dropping. They did that and it helped for a moment but then went right back(my son had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck) omg i was freaking out as they yelled CODE WHITE literally pushing me in my hospital bed down the halls running smashing into every wall on every corner(kinda comedic when I think back now) i was going in for an emergency c section! I didn't even have enough time to process what was going on before my little man was born at 12:15am (Tuesday) so a day and a half in the hospital. They stitched me up and yes it was painful standing for the first time again but it was so worth it! My little boy will be 6 years old next month Sept 16th! This happened back in 2014! It's crazy how time flys! I have had a little girl since as well. She is 2 yrs old and was born via c section(planned) which was the right call since she was breech when I had get at 39.1wks.

one of my other favorite labor/delivery nurse channels was just banned! I immediately pulled up your channel to make sure you're still here. I LOVE your videos. I have sexual trauma/PTSD and am trying to learn as much as I can so that I can feel comfortable with all the checks through the end of my pregnancy. My clinic doctors and nurses have been soo great at trying to help me feel comfortable even through these first two trimesters. They keep telling me to just communicate when I need a minute- I think of some of your same advice when they say it! Flex and flow is my office appt mantra now. I used to go in and my bp would skyrocket from anxiety, now I'm getting more zen with each visit. You are bringing me peace of mind. You are fabulous at what you do. I wanted you to know you really make a difference to me which means you are making a difference to my baby too. I have bookmarked so many of your videos to watch with my hubby as we get closer to the big day. Thank-you so much for following your calling in life. You'll never know how many people you really impact by doing what you do.
My nurse has assured me sexual trauma is something they are forced to be pretty aware of in their office/practice, I know it's a big subject but I'd love to see a video from you with your tips and advice and experience. I'm so scared of having a flashback in the delivery room and letting the worst day of my life seep into what should be the best day. I'm lucky to have understanding staff and a rock of a husband who knows my whole story. I feel so much for the ladies who have this history and don't have that kind of support.

Be tty it was smooth! My doctor and nurse were incredible. I had to get started with the foley because I wasn’t dilated at all when I checked in. That wasn’t so bad. However, when they gave me the pitocin my body kicked into full gear! I started having contractions every two minutes and very strong ones, but I was only 4cm at that point. I really tried to suck it up for as long as I could hoping the contractions would calm down as far as how frequent they were but that didn’t happen. So I tapped out and got the epidural and after that everything was easy breezy. Couldn’t move my legs to save my life but that’s what the husbands for lol. You’ll do great!!!

I was just induced and gave birth to a healthy baby boy 3 weeks ago. Honestly, for me, the foley balloon was HORRIFICALLY painful. 10/10 on the pain scale. The OB actually said it was one of the hardest foley bulbs she’s ever placed in all her years in practice. It hurt so bad I was screaming 😢 After that though, my labor was actually extremely smooth and dare I say easy actually.

    Heads up ladies :
For inductions here are some tips and procedures for most areas.
    1. They will insert a pill inside your vag. Which will start your contractions.
    2. They will talk to you about what youll like to do do as far as pain management.
    3. If you plan on getting an epidural NEVER get the pitocin BEFORE the epidural. Always get the pitocin AFTER the epidural it DOES NOT SLOW DOWN LABOR.
    4. If you choose not to get a epidural while being induced you are one strong momma because those artiicial contractions can be pretty damn bad just from the pill alone. I could only imagine having pitocin and actually feeling it 😳
    5. Lastly just know that your legs will be numb and depending of the dose of the medicine placed in the epirural youll either feel ABSOLUTELY NOTHING'. A SMALL BIT OF PRESSURE. OR for the UNFORTUNATE people the epidural may not work for you at all or you may feel it on only one side.
Ive had 4 children so im just relating the experience .

    • @heaterhorse411
      @heaterhorse411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I have heard if you do 1 at a time with the pitocin instead or 2 or 3 at a time it can help to keep the contractions from being as bad.

With my first baby I was almost 42 weeks when I got induced. They had to use every method mentioned to get my labor started and progressing. That early and middle stage of labor took forever due to my body and baby just not naturally doing the whole labor thing lol…thankfully I did have a vaginal delivery (after many many hours like over 30) and my baby was just fine and healthy. So I agree with some of your last sentiments that going with your care providers recommendations can sometimes be the best thing for you. Thankfully I was so naive I didn’t have any fight in me against these methods. I knew I needed to get the baby out at this point, so I cooperated even though I never wanted my labor experience to have so many interventions.

I don’t usually comment on videos but honestly thank you. I’m due in 7th June with my first child and have been terrified by childbirth. Especially medical interventions like c-sections/epidurals!
This video was so reassuring to watch as whilst I imagine the insertion of anything into your cervix is likely to be uncomfortable it doesn’t seem nearly as scary as what I had imagined!
Please, please, please do a video on c-sections. I really don’t want one, but to have your advice/guidance on how to get through it should it be a necessity would be awesome!
Oh and I’m in the UK - so you’re advice is reaching far and wide! Your friendly/bubbly nature is so effective! Xx

Thank you so much for this video and all your other videos! When I found out I was getting induced at 37weeks I watched this video and it helped me a lot to understand what they’ll do and it allowed me to be as calm as possible for the process. I was induced at 10am on a Tuesday (insertion of the balloon) and sent home for 24h. Came back the next morning at 10 and was admitted. Labor was long, I gave birth on Thursday 8.49am so also 47h after the whole process was started but I was able to have a vaginal birth.

Coming back and listening to this video 2 years after my induction, I'm actually a bit confused about how mine went. I had cervidil and for 15 hours I did not dilated but had nonstop contractions. My midwife was very nice but she made it seem like I should have been dilated already and given birth? She was going to send me home to labor because nothing was happening but the hospital nurse happen to walk in when that conversation took place and the hospital would not discharge me because they said my situation was now considered high risk. Based on your video, I would not be out of the norm if I was in labor for 24 hrs and only dilated to 1 cm. My whole birth story with my first child was a bit traumatic because I thought my body wasn't responding positively to the induction. I was in labor for 36 hours.

I was induced at 41 weeks!
Going in on my induction date I was already 3 cm dilated, so they decided to just break my water (crazy experience) and start me on pitocin! I dilated a cm every 1-2 hours and got an epidural at 6 cm and it didn’t work for me ☹️ I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed for one 😫 Hardest hour of my life!!!

I have hypertension, I’ve had a PE, cholecystitis and UTI and anaemia during pregnancy. I am currently 37 + 4 and am being induced on Friday at 37 + 6 due to being high risk. My baby is healthy luckily. I’ve never been induced before. When I had my first child nearly 17 years ago, my waters broke by themselves at 38 + 3. I had a four and a half hour labour and my baby came into the world. This time it is very different.

I highly recommend the foley catheter to anyone that can have it for induction. It got to work overnight while I got to sleep and rest. Then I had a big breakfast in the hospital the next morning (huge mistake) before my pitocin torture fest began. My foley bulb fell out at 4cm. I made it to transition (they didn't tell me I was so close) till I couldn't take the pit anymore and got an epidural basically just to pop little nugget out.

Ok, Sarah, I can now return as an experienced woman! Lol I had an elective 39 week induction at 39 weeks and 2 days. I needed a foley balloon insert after an exam as I was just 1.5 cm dilated and posterior cervix, but about 40-50% effaced. I began having mild contractions with that in for 12 hours overnight and the nurse just pulled it out when I got to 4 cm. I was on a pitocin drip all day the following day and contracting regularly. Baby seemed to handle everything fine until I was walking a lot and her heart rate went high and I was told to slow down. Long story short, I never progressed past 4 cm and my cervix was so posterior (behind babies head). We opted to call it quits and go home. Here I sit now 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant WAITING for my daughter...hoping for spontaneous labor soon.

Thank you so much for this.
I have been recommended for an induction at term, which is in 2 days time. This is in the absence if any medical condition - me and baby are both healthy - however I turned 40 half way through the pregnancy which puts me in the 40+ category and my obs recommends induction at term for anyone aged 40+. Since being told this I have gone from being completely relaxed about the birth to being terrified and confused, actually been in tears a few times having been frightened by statistics on risk of still birth, questioining whether the induction is really worth the risk, and frustrated that I have been lumped in to the 40+ category which includes all the oldest women when I have only *just* turned 40.
Your videos have made me feel better - really well explained and in such a relaxed and humorous way which is exactly what I needed. Thank you. Xxx

I had to be induced with my first child at 38 weeks due to gestational hypertension. They were able to start with the foley catheter. Unfortunately, I got to 4 cm and the balloon didn't pop out like it was supposed to, so the nurses and doctors didn't know how long I had been at 4 cm. They inserted the foley at 10am on Monday, and I had my beautiful daughter at 4:19 pm on Tuesday. My water broke at 11:30 pm on it's own. They had to stop the Pitocin 3 times because my daughters heart rate kept slowing down. I was very close to needing a C-section. Thankfully, baby decided to cooperate at the last minute and I avoided the C-section. My blood pressure has been much better this time around, and I'm due in 2 weeks, 1 day. I'm hoping to avoid an induction this time around unless I'm going to go overdue.

Can you do a video on a high risk pregnancy/birth. I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant and have been classed as high risk for both baby and I since 16 weeks. On weekly montioring because of high blood pressure and abdominal doppler results in ultrasound + baby is behind in growing and I'm completely terrified. This is my first pregnancy.

My baby was behind on growth too.. she was at 10.5% at my gender ultra sound then she went down to 8% on a follow up ultra sound. I seen a specialist when I hut my 3rd trimester and they did persist measurements and she went up to 16%. Hopefully your baby has a growth spurt like my little one! I wish you the best of luck!!! I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant today and due March 4th

@@brittnaybradshaw1678 Thanks for your comment. My life has turn upside down since two weeks ago. My baby had severe IUGR from my severe preeclampsia. I lost the baby a couple of days ago at 25 weeks and 3 days.

Great videos! I'm 37 weeks and can't wait to go into labor and meet my baby 😤 😊
I have a question: when is it recommended to be induced (41+3? 42?) if everything is fine but you are just not going into labor spontaneously? I'm finding confusing information on this topic and on Friday my doctor said that we would discuss induction at my 40 week appointment (which is actually scheduled two days before my due date) if I hadn't given birth by then, and my midwife has already scheduled me for a first postpartum checkup during what would be week 41, so I'm feeling very confused about all of it. My understanding is that first time mothers go about a week past their due date anyway, so why these appointments and this rush? I feel like there is something I'm not understanding.

Im getting so educated but scared at the same time, im probably stressing myself out. 😰 i want to start labor on my own but afraid it wont happen cause im 37 weeks measuring 38 and baby is already 7.14 lb and my other 3 kids weighed 7.10 and had them at my 37 weeks on their own.
