I'm surprised that so many people take this seriously even though it's not official. There is no real country in AoT.
I mean the world is still based in reality though. I mean Mikasa being Asian is canon. Yeah it’s not like Germany or France exists, but that doesn’t mean the characters weren’t created with nationality in mind. It’s pretty obvious that Eren Jaeger was intentionally meant to be German. Unlike most animes that mainly stick to Japanese names, AoT specifically gives names to characters that most of the time have a clear nationality.
@@May11576true true. This is actually important for future live action adaptation with real european, asian and african,and so we wont see white character swapped with black cast. We have onyankopon after all.

MY OPINION. I think that Mikasa is Hal French and half Japanese, the brothers galliard are French (bc of they’re surname who is pretty common in France), and that Kaya is russian

It seems to me that Annie looks more Nordic (Swedish, Norwegian or Danish). Yelena is the one who appears to be Russian, or also Ukrainian.

I don´t see how someone with the name "ackermann" is supposed to be french. it is a very german name, translates to something like Field (acker) man (mann) so like a farmer. german last names tend to be related to the families profession during medieval times, like jaeger too "hunter"

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH. Levi is not German (even is he’s surname is typical from Germany) it was said by the creator of AOT in a interview and he is actually French. Eren is German, even if he’s name is typical Turkish (the name actually doesn’t matter, the only thing that matter is the surname. I don’t think it’s necessary to explain why, it’s pretty obvious) bc he’s surname is German. Hope this clear things a bit
