    couple of daft comments on here,if a top tackle manufacturer is willing to give him all the gear he needs,even clothing,whats wrong with that??maybe even pay him a wage for all we know,who would'nt make vids promoting their stuff??dream job in my eyes.micks probably getting up early tommorow morning to go piking whereas im getting up early to go spend the day on a building site,think i'd prefer micks job.

    Lures and live bait tends to be more populair among scandinavian anglers but I am one of the few, maybe because of my british herritage (scottish) scandinavians who swears eternal faithfulness to deadbait fishing. I use a simple simple rigg and method - just connect my wire traces to the line, put on some sinkers (4 grams normally and none at spring time while they are in the bays) add a treple hook and attach the hook to fish near it's tail and just leave it at the bottom and since I got my hand on my method, I have nevar caught so much pike and I am never going back :) Just had my record with a 112 centimeter and 8 kilogram pike yesterday :) My 1st really big :) Caught on a perch with it's head removed (always remove the head to produce more smell) :) My favorite bait are Baltic Herring (all though you can only have one or max two runs with them), roach and perch - my rod aren't big enough for mackrel but anyhow - theese are the ones I normally use and they have all their advangeses and disadvangeses: The herring produce most smell but are very soft but still my #1 bait. The roach also can smell a bit but they are a bit tougher than the herring but still pretty soft. The perch are probaly the one that smells the least so to remove it's head are very important to produce as much smell as possible but they are the toughest and you can cast out many times with it without the fish flying away :) My recordfish was caught on a small headless perch :)

      nice comment, i am moving to finland this summer and cant wait to try the british deadbaiting techniques we use in the uk as it often selects the bigger fish. i was wondering if it worked well. thanks.

      marcus s You must go fishing for pike in the baltic sea - there can be monsters there :) Just get your hands on some baltic herring and cast out :)

    To keep those soft baits on the hook I use a small rubber band and rap it around the bait and treble hook.

    would the Gemini clip be suitable for float fishing for pike ? Or just ledgering ?

    • @craignicholson9090
      @craignicholson9090 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ORIGINALINDIVIDUAL I use the gemini snap link swivel to attach the trace when float fishing for pike. they are excellent when you are unhooking the fish. you can detach the hooked fish from your rod as soon as you get it on the bank or in the boat

    With the Pollen wouldn't the air come out when the treble's put in them?

  • @keek8159
    @keek8159 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried this setup, everything looks like mick has done, had my mono on the run ring with my trace attached to my braided line..but whenever I reeled in to cast somewhere else the mono was wrapped around the braid? I thought the run ring wouldn't let the lines tangle? Thought if anything it would just spin around but not tangle. Does this happen at times or am I just being really stupid and missing something obvious? Any advice would be great. Thanks

    Ke ek , I do eel fishing and a man called John sidley wrote in a book to prevent these tangles, place the lead link on the line with a bead , tie a swivel on with a length of line 2inches longer than the lead link and then tie the wire trace to that.
    John sidley caught loads of big fish , try it.

    Whenever I go deadbaiting I always think about the water too, you can't buy that kinda instinct. Anyway I disagree with the bait selection piece, cuz where I go fishing nothing has the crocs at deckchairs like oven roast Duck breast. Just rig it up and away you go. Let me know your thoughts. If you're not too busy crapping yourself in the woods.

    Just don't get a big fish on the middle rod!, don't use a Pod when you're piking,
    Spread your rod's out on single rod rests.
    You can play and land a fish without getting in a muddle or disturbing your other rods, unless you are fishing on concrete or can't get banksticks in.

    Pollen are found in Lough Neagh, it is not a coarse fish , but has an adipose fin and is therefore a member of the trout family. They used to be available from fish shops in the towns surrounding Lough Neagh, especially on a Friday, but are seldom seen now, I believe as a species they are dying out. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM AS BAIT!.
