Friends was one of the inanimate "objects" that helped me get through life when no one was there. Chandler Bing was a huge part of the laughter that was given to me.

The person suffering from alcoholism, even sober still has trials, losses, and some lose their lives from the damage inflicted by years & years of abuse. They are sober but there are those that suffer a difficult death.

I see you as Mathew Perry now. More than a character he played, he was a human being that dealt with tremendous amount of trauma and managed to hold on this long.

Perry did a fantastic job at keeping Chandler a fairly stable character despite his problems with addiction. Except for the fluctuations in weight, it was impossible to tell when he was using and when he wasn't.
Heartbreaking 💔 I would never dream “Chandler” is going through so much while he made us all laugh and bring us so much joy! I wish he would have known how much he is loved by his family, friends, and so many people around the world! Truly heartbreaking 💔

I think Matthew knows. I believe he can see what everyone is going through. In life, the body is like a big coat. When life leaves the body, the coat is gone. The soul is free, joyous, & sees everything that made up his world.

He was superb in his character. Perfect timing and emphasis just at the right time. Although that was just fictitious and a show it showed his talent and actually from what I read who he really was in life. Funny and endearing. We must watch out for those we love around us. He really was a down to earth guy, he should be remembered for all the good work & help he gave others - outside of the hit tv show he was apart of. Last year during an interview Matthew said that he spent $9 million trying to get sober. What's heartbreaking is that the body can only handle so much drug abuse and then it's ready to give up. God can bring good out of any situation. Many people will turn to sobriety through his book and his foundation.

@@stephaniewilliams168Rehab isn't cheap. He was in rehab 15 times. He had 14 surgeries trying to mend his body due to the ravages of drugs and alcohol addiction. He fought a very long battle and won, only to die two years later. 😢

@@stephaniewilliams168 in a 30 year timeframe Matthew spent an inconceivable amount of money on his addiction. The 9 million to reach recovery was a drop in the bucket comparatively.
Matthew, the very best part of you lives on. Your Spirit - Your Soul. who you are. I believe you knew when your body was failing, you were in devastating pain, & you knew. Your body had taken as much as it could. this wasn’t your fault. no one with the addiction tells the world when you’re born “hello world, I’m an addict, this is what I choose”. You did your very best through it all. You’re loved so much for being you. we didn’t see your faults, we saw the best you had to give. before & after your book. I simply hope you knew how much you are loved. ❤❤❤

I'm struck deeply to learn the first time as a 30 day old, was given a horrific drug for being, colicky!?! Wtf? What Dr does that? Thus begun his life long struggles. RIP MATTY!❤

Exactly!!! They set him up for future problems. Who gives medication, let alone something I’m guessing really heavy to a newborn infant?! That should be illegal and that “doctor-dealer” needs to face the consequences! God knows how many other children were affected by his recommendations. We only know about one, Matthew Perry, because he was famous and was able to tell his story!
And maybe he, as a baby, cried because he just wanted to be hugged and comforted??? 🤔😥🤔
For others it’s much sooner than this. I don’t think anyone would want to know some of the stories. (Until they become necessary to help a newcomer)truly cunning, baffling, powerful.
There are drs all over the US that do that crap everyday and no one gives it a second thought. I’m serious. Some times I talk to so many people a day, it’s crazy. People always going through some serious stuff and it hurts. Trauma overload can affect your body and brain. The more trauma the worse we become for a time. We have to teach ourselves how to heal from that.

I've never watched Friends. I've seen some of his movies and loved them. He is more important to me that he got sober and then went on to help others.

I wish with all my heart he was still alive & I could somehow give him a hug to let him know that he is loved, he IS enough & he is the the most beautiful human being with the most beautiful heart. This just makes me so sad & just breaks my heart. What a huge loss in this world. My deepest condolences to his family, his Friends family & everyone who is mourning his passing.

What Mathew said at 5:47 spoke volumes to me, as the family scapegoat I learned to use humor as a defense and a way to be liked. Psychologists call it "fawning", it crosses over from having an emotionally unavailable parent who makes you feel unloved and unimportant, so the child learns to do whatever it has to in order to get that reassuring energy and sense of belonging and safety that every child inherently craves, and deserves. The child realizes even at a very young age, that it is a matter of survival to establish some kind of link to the careless, self-interested parent. So the child learns to do a kind of performance, so everything feels like you are performing as the parent wants you to, because they are only offering and capable of, conditional love.
I had to go through so much confusion to realize this, but it only scrapes the surface of what there is to realize about growing up in an emotionally stifled, and very often abusive family.
To realize you can relax and stop performing for likes and approval........profound, that is where the healing is, in that realization that you are good, you are o.k, you are lovable, you are acceptable, you are enough, without even lifting a finger to try and do or be anything or anyone.
Thats it. Learn to love yourself, with radical self-acceptance, forgive all sins and start again.
Then love others, naturally, not strategically, or to gain anything from them but the friendship.
But guard thy heart, we live in shark-infested waters, make naivety a thing of the past.

I feel so much sadness for Matthew 😭. His strength, throughout the struggle, should give people hope. This is what he wanted. He was taken too soon, but, hopefully, finally,had blessed peace. I felt broken 💔.

So many cared yet NO ONE did anything….now they all care.

He is proof the there are good people with bad habits . Doesn’t make them bad people. I wish that people would understand that this disease is just like any other disease it kills you . Sometimes slowly and the shame that people carry just makes them do more drugs . It’s an addiction where your body craves more drugs but your mind carries more shame . The affects on the mind and emotions are devastating. It’s a miracle that he lived as long as he did . I pray he is in a place where he feels so much love that it erases all the pain of this horrible disease . Rest with the angels . You succeeded for 10 years on friends and you brought so much joy and laughter to so many that the show is still going all day long on many different channels. When I just want to forget about the horrible things that happen in this life I just turn on friends and still laugh and feel better for a little while .

I'm a recovering alcoholic, I have been sober for 22 years. Although I gave up drinking , I then took up weed. My life is manageable now to an extent and I have held down the same job for 21 years . I have no intentions of giving up weed as I too want to feel like normal people. I'm terrified to be clean and sober, to me it is as scary as hell. My health is deteriorating but I'm good with that as committing suicide is not an option for me. I'm not looking for sympathy, I've made my own choices , I'm looking for understanding as nobody wakes up one day and decides to become an alcoholic. RIP Matty, I understand.🙏

In 2012 had ik de hele nacht ernstige weeen en ik keek friends om me erdoorheen te helpen. In 2022 heb ik zijn boek gelezen, hij is iemand die me door moeilijke tijden heeft geholpen. Hij is een groot verlies voor deze wereld.
