    -------
    Martha Reed Garvin on a Musical Memories request program performing the hymn Only Remembered. I've included the words below so you can sing along!
    Only Remembered
    Words: Horatius Bonar
    Music: Ira D. Sankey
    Fading away like the stars of the morning,
    Losing their light in the glorious sun--
    Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,
    Only remembered by what we have done.
    Refrain:
    Only remembered, only remembered,
    Only remembered by what we have done;
    Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,
    Only remembered by what we have done.
    Shall we be miss'd though by others succeeded,
    Reaping the fields we in springtime have sown?
    No, for the sowers may pass from their labors,
    Only remembered by what they have done.
    Refrain
    Only the truth that in life we have spoken,
    Only the seed that on earth we have sown;
    These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,
    Fruits of the harvest and what we have done.
    Refrain
    Oh, when the Savior shall make up His jewels,
    When the bright crowns of rejoicing are won,
    Then shall His weary and faithful disciples,
    All be remembered by what they have done.
    Refrain

    Look for 'only remembered' in Sankeys sacred songs and solid . That's a far better tune ! It was used greatly in the film ' The war horse ' .

    Martha, I'm not sure if you will see this message or not but can you make a video of playing It Took A Miracle?

    It's a very special song to us, but the english lyrics can be taken the wrong way (not doctrinally sound, as in "salvation by works"). The song is very deep and full of meaning in the right context however. In my languages of origin, which are Romanian and Hungarian the lyrics have been corrected to reflect the idea that "what you have done for Christ will remain", which makes a whole lot more sense doctrinally.
    Also as a hymn for memorial day or veteran's day, this is absolutely magnificent, and brings me to tears because in that context it makes a whole lot of sense.
    Oh, and originally it's not really a southern hymn but scottish.
    I prefer it to be played/sung more like this rendition:
