My hot take is the Nats spend big this offseason. Corbin is coming off the books after this year and they love to spend on pitching. Most of their prospects bats are almost ready to debut. I think they grab 2 pitchers maybe a year early.
What are you talking about? They will have learned their lesson to not spend big on pitching after Strasburg and Corbin. Also their window isn't starting yet, we're about 2 years away from the Nats rebuild ripening.
@@AWWYEAHHHHHH this might be the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen. Because they signed a couple bad contracts you can never sign a high end pitcher again. Maxes contract ended up being great for them. Without signing him, they don’t have the runs that they had. Also, without Corbin, they don’t win the World Series. He still won game seven at the end of the day. And House and cruise are ready for next year. There three top prospects from this year should all be in the big leagues next year. It’s absolutely stupid to think because they signed a couple bad contracts that you can never sign high-end pitching again. How dumb are you?
Dude i like this guy what if we went and gave burnes alonso and bregman contracts . Would that makes us ws contenders.? Alonso carpenter greene kieth ...not bad meadows been balling we really have so much young talent id love to see a condensing into a star someohow
I think the Orioles and Corbin Burnes are going to surprise everyone and he comes back to Baltimore. Yes, it's going to cost quite a bit, but there's new ownership and a fresh outlook. If the O's can give him a competitive deal, I think he loves being right where he is, loves the team's youth, it's future and won't be interested in leaving, But again, that all depends on if the club is willing to pony up some big bucks.
Also, they have plenty of tax space. They could probably sign him and Max Fried and still be under the luxury tax threshold. I wouldn't count on Trevor Rodgers or Zach Efflin. Neither of them have stellar track records.
Sasaki isn't going to somewhere like detroit. Considering if he gets posted he can only receive a rookie deal, he's only going somewhere he knows he can win, realistically it's probably the dodgers or the yankees, with maybe like the mets (not that they're serial winners but there's vision) and the o's having an outside chance, but I think that he will go to a big market team that can win immediately and in the future, especially with the contract rules, those are the most sensible moves for him to make
Man have i been waiting a while for Detroit to spend big again. If that happens then honestly its all been worth it. But we gotta count on Harris to make some good big moves. His record with pitchers is great but we gotta see something with the offense
As a tigers fan I think an under the radar signing could be Ryan o’Hearn. He will probably be decently cheap for one or two year deal if Tork doesn’t figure it out.
tigers have jace jung coming up who can play 3B possibly and Kevin McGonigle 2B/SS and bryce rainer SS couple of years down the road. strong farm. but yea Torkelson i agree might need change of scenery and possibly sign a free agent 1B.
For the blue jays the big move id love to see is a shake up of the front office. Shapiro can stay but can we move James Click from to General Manager over Atkins. Just a fresh perspective from someone who knows how to build a winner.
As for top free agent targets I think they should go all in on Santander personally but i believe the Jays will probably target guys like Torres, Verdugo, O’Neill and/or Kepler
I hope Blake Snell opts in next season. The Giants look like they are on the verge of something special again. What they’ve been able to do this season with everything that has gone is miraculous. Injuries, sub par performances, lack of timely hitting, etc. They’ve got what appears to be a stud 1st baseman in the making in the minors in Bryce Eldridge who’ll be making his debut probably within the next 2 seasons. Borderline elite starting pitching, with an excellent bullpen, next season Lee is returning. Yeah this season reminds me a lot of the 09 Giants, 11 Giants squad as well.
I genuinely think if Roki Sasaki is to be signed this offseason, the obvious option is going to be the Dodgers. But would be cool to see a team like Tigers get him. Highly doubt it though.
Since it appears they’re done with the Oakland saga probably not. The demolition of this franchise and leaving Oakland was the whole reason behind never keeping any star players. I’m in agreement with ya, they are starting to look alright again.
Torkelson has been heating up in AAA of late, Harris said he's still part of the future. I do think it requires him staying hot down the stretch. He should be in Detroit today. I agree though that they're going to maximize the next 2 years with Skubal by spending some.
Perhaps that hot streak can boost his value? 😂 What I probably should have mentioned was he could DH while they also sign someone like Alonso to play 1B.
Pirates send Ke'Bryan Hayes to Detroit for Torkelson. Opens up payroll for the Pirates, while also filling their 1B hole. Hayes looks completely lost at the plate under Andy Haines. Pirates will get Nick G. back at 2B next year and IKF can play 3B. Tigers get a GG defender at 3B, who has shown flashes with the bat, but overall has been below average offensively, on a team friendly contract.
Tigers need to call up Tork again and see what he can do now. If the last month he does the same ol' stuff cut ties with him and get someone new. If he does better you could still get someone "Just in case"
I predict that the Mets don't sign Burnes or Max Fried. I think Burnes feels burned by his time with the Brewers, and he would not be eager to play under David Stearns. I think that Max Fried won't want to play in the New York spotlight. They will probably make a run after any really good Japanese starter. I think signing Shane Bieber isn't out of the question, as is a trade for a frontline starter.
Not a prediction but more of a certainty, Max Fried will sign with the LA Dodgers Look at this rotation 1-Ohtani 2-Yamamoto 3-Fried 4-Glasnow 5-Kershaw
I am wondering if Rooker gets traded in the off-season? Seems like the A’s might be trying to keep this lineup together since they had a quiet deadline. If you squint hard enough, you see a potentially good lineup there.
If the Rangers can get a TV deal done before the offseason (please god). I would mark them as an underdog to land Sasaki if he’s posted. We have a ton of money coming off the books in the 25’ offseason. CY is a sales man, and if we get this deal done, maybe old Ray Davis opens up his wallet one last time to land a potential generational pitcher. He’ll probably go to the dodgers or Padres because the baseball gods just love to watch the rest of us suffer, BUT Rangers have a need, they may have the means and are competitive and won it in 23’. There’s a chance.
Im going to say my Brewers go cheap (I know, whats new?) But they will do it with the plan of bringing everyone up from the minors as long with Woodruff and Gasser coming back from injury
Tigers should trust the process and keep the young talent it’s only a matter of time before everything clicks for them don’t send them elsewhere to do so
Soto is going to whoever gives him the most money. The Mets are getting a lot of money off the books after ‘24 and have the richest owner in baseball. No brainer.
I think they will be focused on pitching. Signing Corbin Burnes and Soto and a relief pitcher would send them soaring past the luxury tax. That would essentially cost them a first round pick and hamper their ability to develop a sustainable flow of young talent.
Orioles are going to resign Burnes. They aren’t trading for Crochet or signing Snell. The Orioles could afford to resign Burnes and he has called Baltimore his home.
Sasaki is a lock to the Dodgers. Like Ohtani when he came over he isn’t going to get huge money. That will come in year two when the Dodgers only have a few contracts on the books. No Muncy, no Taylor and lots of bats and arms at the ready from the farm.
I don’t think he’s a lock for the Dodgers necessarily. I actually wonder how aggressive they’ll be for him. Ohtani back in the rotation in 2025. Just gave Yamamoto and Glasnow big contracts. Have young starters in Stone and Ryan.
@@rhyde I wouldn't underestimate their greed. Ohtani gave them a sweetheart deal. He will only be getting paid two million dollars a year for the next ten years. I'm surprised the commisioners office didn't void that contract.
After the Yamamoto nonsense last year, I don't think there's anyway way that Steve Cohen will be outbid Roki Sasaki even if there are restrictions on the contract type.
@rhyde I am still enjoying the 2024 season. It's great watching the Brewers and Indians lead their divisions. Great series so far between the teams this weekend.
My bias Phillies take is that they move off Castellanos’ and Walker’s contracts this offseason to free up the money to make a massive splash and sign Juan Soto
No one is gonna trade for Walker. He has shown literally nothing in Philly and has 2 years left on his contract. He won’t even pitch in the post season unless there’s a big SP injury
@@jsnike91 He’ll only have 2 years left on his deal, and when healthy, has regularly proven to be a solid 3/4 on most teams. Attach a little bit of cash and a prospect or two and I’m certain some team would bite. Maybe the Rockies - they’re desperate enough to make a move like this
Walker has almost a 5 ERA in the season and a half with Philly and a negative WAR. We are more than likely stuck with him cause he’s turning 32 next week and owed 36 mil over the next 2 years. That’s not something teams will be lining up for for an at best #4 pitcher.
