You can make that argument - "what has it led to if you don't win" - for every team who makes a big sign/ trade for a star player... PG gave us the best chance to win for who was actually available and realistic . Go big or go home.

One of those seasons in OKC, PG was 3rd in MVP voting, 3rd in defensive player of the year voting, first team all NBA and first time all defensive team. That was impressive.

The reason that I didn't want Paul George and I still honestly would prefer Klay Thompson right now instead of us getting Paul George is because we don't have anymore money. We literally just did a crazy sign and trade with the Warriors to try to get some cap space and a draft pick. We have a starting 4 right now and we don't really have a bench. It's going to take a Hail Mary and some wizardry by Daryl Morey to get a power forward and add at least one piece if not two for the bench.

One of the points that Windhorst made was that when you go for a Big THREE it takes at least a year to get up to speed since you sacrifice depth.
Sixers would only have 9 M of cap space if waived Paul Reed, which would be a very, very, very bad idea considering the already weakness at PF, especially with rebounding.
Otherwise, Sixers can only sign Vet Mins and Bona (who will be a project).
I am concerned that Morey couldn't get PG to take a discount to help team, considering that even with a discount, he'd be getting more than LAC was willing to offer, for sure.
PG doesn't prioritize winning. Maybe Joel and the Sixers fans could get him to be more serious about winning.
If Sixers could sign Lowry, Marcus Morris and Gordon Hayward to Vet Mins, that would be as good as can be expected right now.
Hayward Highsmith and Jeff Dowtin should accept Vet Mins. Dowtin shot 47% from 3 pt.
Whenever a move is agreed by most to be good, there will always be people looking for headlines by going against the grain. Right now good or bad it's all just talk. No one knows how it will play out, but it's a great fit for a good team.

Leonard's got three championships I don't think the guy really cares. So with Paul George coming here he should be excited about winning. I like the Paul George move especially cuz he's a two-way player he can play defense too not as good as he used to be but as good as he is. And the best thing of all we didn't have to give up nothing we just signed him.

I partially agree with him, even though I don't normally don't agree with Windy. Don't get me wrong I love PG and I am super excited to have him here, but we do need to make one or two more GOOD moves. I'll count myself as a paul george skeptic but at the same time blaming him for okc or the clippers not winning is ridiculous. A russell westbrook led team is never going anywhere and a clippers team where kawhi is hurt nonstop is never going anywhere. The clippers' most success was actually a year kawhi got hurt and pg led them to the conference finals. Now he goes from back to back situations where he was the 2nd best player (and best player when kawhi was hurt) to the 3rd best. It's a big difference. And as skeptical as you might be about hsi playoff history he is replacing *tobias harris* whose better games often struggled to even match the production of george's worst. His game jsut compliments embiid/maxey much better than harris, who hates shooting off the catch and is most comfortable iso-ing into a 12 foot pull up shot. It makes them so much better and there's just a better chance george is capable of taking over in a game embiid/maxey don't have it as well
Folks who are saying that the Sixers just added Paul George to the team are spreading misinformation. They did not just add George. They do not have a full team right now cause the big 3 of the Sixers are taking up a huge bulk of the salary cap, which henders the ability to sign depth. Sixers are REPLACiNG Paul George for depth, which is pretty much the same situation as Tobias. in this case, i agree with Windy. On the contrary, Paul George is a must better fit than Tobias, & with the addition of Eric Gordon & Andre Drummond does help, but you still need a bench to be a championship team, especially with injury prone players like Paul George & Embiid

This is misrepresenting what Windhorst was saying, because it was specifically about the next season. The question was also explicitly about the biggest challenger to the Celtics, and he was emphasizing teams in the West, especially OKC.
That may be true in this instance, but he has been down on the Sixers' potential as a contender multiple times - Tim Bontemps basically had to check him for poopooing of PG the addition on Hoop Collective. he's a doubter.
