    I truly appreciate your honesty in all your videos. Even if our tastes don't totally align, your ability to describe the plot and what you do and don't like helps me find my reads.
    Unrelated, your hair lately has been 🔥

    No one in their right mind should expect you to like everything you read. This year, I've certainly had some doozies on my shelf, and while I wish I could get the time, money, and energy back, I just push until I read a good one. Looking forward to seeing what doozies come in 2023 (Is that cool to say? lol). Thanks, Kayla!

    Yeees no disclaimers. 🎉🎉🎉 love it.
    Also I love end of the year content, because I’m always so shocked. Like you read The Centaur’s Wife THIS year? Man the year is long.

    So fun to see what different people think about books! Three were some of my favorites of the year. I’m glad there are books for all different tastes. Thanks for explaining why it didn’t work for you- it definitely helps to see if I would like it

    According to the Renovated To Death author (in his responses to bad reviews), repetition is often used as a device in plays, and he's a "trained playwright," so I'm just wondering why he didn't write that story as a play instead of a book. Probably seemed a more difficult way to make money, but it might have actually resulted in a better final product. In other news, your hair is stunning!

    It was hard for me to believe that Hide was written by Kiersten White. It's so different from everything else I've read by her; not only the plot but also writing style and level of interest it arose in me. I'm used to her stories starting slow, but man this took the cake.

    I can definitely say the books that I rate high versus the books that I rate low all depends entirely on what is suggested to me during the year. If I lean into all these popular books and book of the month recommendations I'm usually disappointed. Meanwhile if I go out and read the back of a book and choose it of my own desire I'm only half as likely to be disappointed, and more likely to be pleasantly surprised.

    I totally get where you’re coming from with Just Like Home and generally I agree because this is the reason why I generally don’t enjoy thrillers - I just hate waiting for the big reveal/plot twist to happen and then the book ends. However, it didn’t bother me at all with Just Like Home, maybe because I’m a character driven person and a sucker for a beautiful writing style and the book had both great family dynamics and STUNNING writing style. So Just Like Home is one of my favourites of 2022 💜

    I’ve only hit the halfway point in my reading goal this year because I was actively trying to avoid disappointing or bad reads this year. I’m definitely bummed I didn’t meet my reading goal but I’m glad I read stuff I really enjoyed this year.

      They give the twist away by calling a character by the wrong name. It was a very bad editing error. I missed it while reading it. I was so excited to read it because of how much Gabbyreads loved it thar I signed up for botm. Still the worst botm book I've read since I signed up. 😆

I loved that duology and I think Mary Pearson is such an incredible writer but I'm not entirely surprised that you didn't love it. • @SpacePrjncess
    @SpacePrjncess ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes exactly my thoughts on seasonal fears. I was so disappointed by the ending it was way too easy. I also didn’t think the “villain” was truly a villain so that part of the ending felt wrong. And lastly our two main characters never had any issues like we are watching them grow into their own powers and they never opposed each other or like had any conflict so what was the point of watching the journey.
