Nice to see you back, I don't personally see the point updating to this if they haven't done anything to upscale the bluray but just ad a few art prints especially with the price of it .ild sooner have 4k and better sound than few bits.hopfully a uk company goes all,out on 4k,,love this movie it deserves better.
Thanks! For me it was nice to finally get a decent edition of this movie in a nice set, with a good collection of extras etc in a nice package. Previous releases have either been barebones or foreign in weird packaging. With any luck 88 films will do a 4K scan - it all depends what MGM allow the distributors to do, and what is also possible having inherited the film from Cannon.
A fun film with a wonderful score by Bill Conti. Curious to know more about the artwork issue mentioned. Thank you for brining this release to my attention and keep up the fantastic work.
Thanks Mr Pensak! Regarding the art - upon its original announcement the set had the illustrated art of He-Man & Blade on the cover which I believe was used with the toy line - (for what ever reason they were told they couldn't use it. Rumour has it that Mattel own it and not MGM). So they then decided to use a still from the film instead which looked cheap and nasty - like a homemade job. Several people I know cancelled their orders due to that. They then changed the art again to use the art from the original one sheet poster. I wasn't happy with the initial change, but wanted this for the content regardless. I am glad they changed it - whilst not as good as the original set they advertised, it still looks the part.
@@RetroReels Thank you for the explanation. I’d love to see the special features but can’t justify the purchase just on that basis. Appreciate all you do and the quality of your content.
There is a disc only version available, however it is still fairly expensive after postage costs etc. Thanks for the kind words - and for your continued support!
I remember being so excited for this movie! I would have dreams about it, I couldn’t wait! And then they went to Earth. First time I remember being really disappointed by a movie. And mind the previous movie I saw was Superman IV!

Thank you! I don't have a region free player and was worried when they sent a disclaimer out about the new region info. I decided to take a chance and keep the pre-order, glad I did!
Hey, At least they changed the outer artwork. Looks like a nice meaty book shame about the transfer . A 5.1 mix should be a basic these days . Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you Matt - the 2.0 sound does still sound great - but I would love a full remix. Strange how we want the film to be visually as close to its original presentation as possible, but all love a new sound mix! 😄
Picked it up on blu ray recently hope we get a 4K soon
Fingers crossed that 88 Films upcoming release is 4K!

@@RetroReels I do like a nice collectors box and art looks good on shelf but visules and audio upgrade would be better with it

I ordered two copies (149 and 150 on the numbering).
This does play on Blu Ray and PS4, even though it was advertised as being a region B release.

I have the bluray!!!
Awesome edition of he man there! do you have any idea if a steelbook fits inside the box ? (removing the plastic transparent generic case of course)
Hi - just tried it with the Crow Steelbook and yes it does fit a Steel inside the outer box

I just received my copy. I have a universal Blu-ray player, but it turns out the Blu-ray is Region free, or at least works on Region A devices.
Thank you! I don't have a region free player and was worried when they sent a disclaimer out about the new region info. I decided to take a chance and keep the pre-order, glad I did!
Appears to be region free after all. I took the chance and I’m playing it now on a Region A device.
I came here to find this out! I was worried after they threw out the random disclaimer to “remind” everyone that it was region B locked. Huge relief!

@RetroReels do you hsv gh old master of th unvers3 stelbok tht ether dvd or blu ray fro geramny
Other than highlighting the masters of the universe logo, is there any easter egg worth seeing?
Just the one Easter Egg
Adding the black bars just call it the original aspect ratio seems shady.
Hard to determine whether that’s the case or previous releases have just been opened up 🤔
