Quick tip...if undoing a nut wih a socket and you are afraid of losing it, put some general purpose grease in your socket.....it should hold it while you withdraw the socket. Great video chaps.
‘Reposition your proboscis’ lol, that’s up there with last week’s ‘demons in the machine’. You guys do great work, keep it up. I’ve just stripped my dead L322 TDV8 for parts with a lot of input from your videos, thank you 👍
I had the same sinking pedal after changing all 4 calipers on my Discovery 3 even after bleeding from the calipers. I thought the master cylinder was knackered too but I ended up getting more air out from the 2 pipes going from the master cylinder. Just a case of someone pumping the pedal as I undid the brake pipe nuts. Took about 4 to 5 pumps on each pipe. The pedal then stopped sinking. The pedal was still spongy so I used a diagnostic tool (icarsoft LR V2.0) with the ABS bleed function. The pedal is now firm at the top again. Great video again guys!
PowerVolt I have the same software. Do I bleed traditionally or just use the software bleed feature? Can you explain the procedure of the software route and how it’s done.
A excellent video, but towards the end I realised it is not possible to do this job without the electronicy diagnostic tool, and the knowledge to use it, it would be a good idea to get some wing protectors or even an old tarp to protect your paintwork from the ravages of the brake fluid drips, and I always slip a cover over the end of undone brake pipes to stop the ingress of crud, although you area looks very clean. Chris B.
Awesome video thank you - watched this video and the original where you changed the master cylinder - how did you know the servo rod hadn’t centered itself into the master cylinder piston? I just changed my MS and think the same thing has happened my pedal goes to the floor when I start it
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Eden Marshall thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Now, I Know all model years are different and all types of cars are different, but can't you just press the brake pedal full brickload, and loosen the cogs from the master cylinder to release the air instead of bleeding the brakes? a quizzical question and a fan like me of automechanics would like to know :) Bonkers Brilliant, your friend Robbie G.
Hello I have a 2013 sport and I found a puddle of clear oily liquid toward the driver side. I think it’s brake fluid, would you have any clue as to where it could come from? Thanks!
Was it towards the rear ? the rear brake pipes rust on the L320 sport 2005-2013 but you car should be the later 2013 L494 ? not sure but get it checked ! brake fluid has a strange smell - check the brake fluid resevoir to see if the level has gone down !
Hi - going downhill you clearly need more braking force. Have you do the test to check your brake servo is working - does the pedal "sink" when you do this test th-cam.com/video/2GJB2TlDMHA/w-d-xo.html
I think you may be on the right track - i did not check and this would have been a wise move. The servo is working ( in that it pushes the pedal down ). The vacuum also holds so i think it should be OK... there is no sign of leakage from the master cylinder. I may buy a servo and cut it open.
powerfulukltd No need to get your grinder out for this! Just remove the vacuum pipe on servo and dip a white cable tie down to the bottom and see if it comes back with oil on. This is the LR TSB method. If yes the vacuum pump probably needs replacement.
The business is owned and run by myself and my wife ( my wife started the business )...we have a great team of 13 staff here also making sure things all run as well as possible !
And your MOT checker didn't pick that up? I'd be reporting them, that is such a basic safety item it is frightening they missed it. At least get your money back!
@@simonjefferson Thanks for replying, I thought the report only listed the binding brakes and the wheel bearing, surely the authorities require all defects to be listed - as powerfulukltd has found out there's more to brakes than just the bits on the wheels. I know a similar report here in Queensland, Australia would have to list all defects found even if there were multiple defects in the same component. To pass, all he had to do was fix what was listed and then driven away with a very defective master cylinder. See what I mean?
Your helping so many people with these videos, grand job

I really appreciate you doing this video because my master cylinder has gone bad on my 2008 range rover sport hse
Thanks for all your videos. Very helpful.

Keep up the great work god bless you guys
Another enjoyable video on your Range Rover. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, it sounded like you said hydroscopic. My bad if you didn't.
Use clean fluid on the reservoir when you are fitting it onto the master cylinder as a lubricant

@Alfredo Johnathan instablaster :)

@Eden Marshall It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account :D
@Alfredo Johnathan happy to help xD
Dan's hourly rate going up Suggest £75.00 an hour
Should have replaced those discs huge ridges and dips looked just like mine when it was shuddering. Not overly expensive.
After its passed its MOT we are going to do the full Brembo upgrade
Very cavalier with where you drop brake fluid. You don't use protective covers to ensure no fluid drops anywhere?
Oil is leaking to my brake servo and it needs fixing hope this will help are any tips
Did the new master cylinder fix you brake pedal sinking when the engine was on?
Can I replace the brake fluid by myself? Is there a procedure you can post? Thanks so much again.
First job is WING COVERS ...
My thoughts exactly, kept thinking watch that fluid on the paint work !! also if you are working on any car always have wing covers !!
Can master break cause abs warning light to come up?

Sorry, it’s L320. And it’s near the front diver side. Almost under the footwell. Thanks!
And the reservoir is 3/4 full
DOT4 class 6 fluid or the other name which is easier to source and I forget right now!
Hi got a problem
On a straight road the break works fine but down hill the pedal goes hard . So it dosent break .

you are welcome !
Hi.Is any chance to do cabin heating problem on Range Rover L405 no heating but cold air and AC work perfect 👌
Thanks
Check your coolant level
Thanks
What if mine cannot hold vacuum
Was there any engine oil or brake fluid in the bottom of the servo?

We're do I but breakfuid in ranger rover sport
Do you own/run the business Simon ?
The business is owned and run by myself and my wife ( my wife started the business )...we have a great team of 13 staff here also making sure things all run as well as possible !
Use beehive matches and burn it to the ground claim insurance and go and buy anything else except a land rover
Whay even is a beehive match ?
And your MOT checker didn't pick that up? I'd be reporting them, that is such a basic safety item it is frightening they missed it. At least get your money back!
He did fail the car on brakes...

You talk to Dan as if he is an idiot, if you so good why don't you do it and let Dan do the filming
