43105 and the chap on the platform, on his phone with the hand and finger in his other ear! 😂 That sums up the beautiful sounds of the HST. Thanks for the enjoyment.
For the era GNER operated in, the video quality is top notch. I was born too late to see these in their heyday, 05, but to have nigh on 2024 video quality does wonders for the immersion. Bravo👏👏
Thank you very much. It was filmed on a fairly high end (in its day!) Sony video camera, so the picture and sound were about the best you could get prior to HD!
@@MrRailfan I suggest checking the 125 group site if your looking for the 43's But if you want just your generic railtours, i suggest checking things like RailAdvent. Let me know if i can help further!
I am so glad I got to experience the HST IC125 trains in 1983. For one week I emersed myself with Britrail with a youthpass. Fondest memories remain precisely recalled.
I was a signalman in Darlington Power Box from 1987 to it’s closure in 1991, and the sound of the southbound London trains as they left platform 1 and passing the signalbox was amazing, good compilation video, thank you 😊
Traveling 'Weekend First' on the GNER Kings Cross - Inverness 'The Highland Chieftain' was a truly majestic experience. Napier turbo scream on Paxman Valenta - sensational.
I used to ride these beasts to and from my home near Rugby when I was a student. The ECML HST sounded epic from on board. I used to be upset when something else stood in for a broken Class 43.
Id like to bet the Valenta engines would have lasted much longer if they would have been started at atleast 60-70 celcius all the time. Such a shame sooo many great Valenta's are history oor MTU'd Clearly them MTU 4000s are slower. Buuut the video was 43 mins of pure joy! Thanks for this ! Greetz from the Netherlands, Bjorn
Nothing sounded quite like a 125 taking off from the platform at York station. Edit : from a platform under the roof. Can still recall the sight and sounds as a kid from over 40 years ago.
So miss these screamers, yes they in part killed the loco Hauled, but they were great sounding as well as fast. I used to work in a call centre, HSTs started working to Bournemouth on XC services, before the building had air-conditioning the windows were open, by me, the departures we were meant to close them... No chance, scream away! :P
To this day I think GNER had the best looking livery of the all the operators on the ECML. Probably the second greatest in my opinion above the flying Original 125 livery and the just below the Intercity Swallow.
East Coast and Midland HST drivers had the advantage of being diagrammed also to work higher-performance traction, eg 91s and 222s, so it's only natural I suppose that they aimed for sparkling HST acceleration to close the gap a bit especially when making up lost time! Sadly, same couldn't be said for the GWML where FGW had a small fleet of 180s which only a minority of HST drivers also worked.
I was lucky enough to have 41 001 at MNR a few years ago. He gave it plenty when starting off. Just love the prototype. A great shame 41 002 didn't survive also.

It's brought back some great memories making this
Fabulous Valenta noise...I love it! Thanks for posting

Fingers crossed we'll be hearing this majestic sound again once 43044 comes out of restoration.
We have a 125 Group Valenta + VP185 set that did its first tour so thats atleast 1 out there!
@Grumpycat1611 planning on my making a trip across the pond to the UK,
Is there anywhere to check upcoming excursion trips?

We used to watch the 125’s fly through Doncaster station in the mid 80’s. Amazing train.
Best train sound ever.
No, that was a Deltic
The sound of my childhood, growing up next to the Temple Meads to Paddington line and later in life included many trips.
Likewise with me. Whereabouts were you?
GNER probably one of the better liveried HSTs on the Railway, just wished they'd have stayed around longer.
Growing up in Reading this was one of the sounds of my childhood. I really miss seeing these go past where I live.

Gner Hsts was the most stunning Livery ever & real screamers

At some stations the valentas aren't allowed to leave with significant throttle as seen here 31:27 what a beast
Probs the best video compilation of the HST Valenta
Travelling on one of these for your train journey is like your taxi driver turing up in a V8 Mustang.
I could listen to this the whole day. BTW, I have these still in service close to me in Mexico. I hope to share a video soon.
I would imagine you would never get bored driving these beauties for a living.
I’m a valued intercity fan!
Paxmax Valenta only!
Not MTU

God the valenta engine gives me goose bumps shame theres no more
Hello. I really like the roaring sound of the locomotive on this train.
Goosebumps aplently!!! Absolute heaven!!

I absolutely love!
Paxman Valenta❤

Is it a coincidence that it's 43 minutes long and the HST's are class 43s?
@@TheEastAnglianUK could be 😉

thax for the heart! Just the ppl watching in awe with how that beast sped through the station, it's great.

4:46 THE FLYING BANANA
The sound of my childhood, the raw power 😁 I hope to see some restored heritage line machines allowed to do mainline specials once in a while.
2:26 bro just causally walking off the platform
Great footage 👍

There’s nothing quite like noise of valentas from best train the world 😊😊😊
They are very noisy trains, I know because I've stood next to them.
Brilliant video
sounds awesome!!!
hey im a newbie with trains and I'm wondering what actually is clag? if anyone could answer pls do
It's the thick smoke from the exhaust :)
@@stephensrailways ah thank you 😊
The Class 67 makes a lesser, but valiant attempt to provide platformside tunefulness these days, and quite respectable show when idling
@@richierich6991 I do like a good skip!
I see what you did there 😁👍 - 43 minutes of 43's!
That belongs to a museum!
Where are our beautiful engines going?
México, Tren interoceánico
So nice
Quick moment to include the Pacer at 22:03.

All trains driven by greta thunberg

Good old 125-43's in National Express. G.N'E.R, early Midland mainline livery. the awesome sound of a 125, as the driver opens the throttle
Best sound going can't beat a hst with valentas fitted 😊😊😊

I so love ❤ hst
Gas turbine sounds like a jet engine
Some had buffers and others did not. Interesting.
HST's Very nice!! I much lovely train.😘
They could have skipped installing the diesel engine completely and used the turbo as a gas turbine based on the sound alone.
rode an electric train in W.Germany 1977 a few times. tripping
The best British Train ❤
Darlington!❤
Everything has gone to shit!!
This is the best ever!
I totally agree!😢
