    J's premium is one of the best for alpaca, I wish he was in business more! Slumberland is one of my fave mohairs out there too!

      He really is, I wish he would open back up or stay open! And yes!! I LOVE Slumberland! I was so happy to see her back in business! Thanks for the reminder on her, I'll add her link to the description as well ❤️

    The front hairline on babies is harder for me than the back. I never know where to start in the front. I don't want it to be too high up, or too low.

      This is something I will be going over again when we start the front. I'm currently trying to figure out how to explain it in the simplest way!

    Thank you so much for answering these questions ❤ Do you always use the same distance, how do you manage the nape of the neck hairline and above the ears, I struggle to angle the needle here? Also do you work with shorter pieces of hair for short newborns?

      I don't always use the same distance, it depends on the sculpt and style I'm rooting. Usually I still use about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch pieces of hair for newborns. I do trim it shorter, but you need about that much to be able to root and handle the hair properly for rooting. As far at the nape and above the ears, those areas are usually really easy for me to root. The hardest area for me is sometimes behind the ear area. When we get to those areas more I can show you, but basically you want to let the head so the work. Don't be afraid to put the head in different positions for those areas. Like when I root the nape, I'll point the face down more so I can easily access that area, same thing for above the ears, I just tilt the head so I have room where I need it ❤️

    I keep watching to see if Sarah has any mohair and I haven’t been able to get any😢

      Your best bet is to send her a message via FB messenger, her custom orders are open, just tell her what color and types you want and she'll have them to you in usually 1-2 weeks max! I don't even try to buy anymore when she posts for sale because they are gone within seconds.

    Do yoy feel Alpaca or Mohair is best for newborns? Do you ensure your hair comes from humane sources such as when the hair is harvested, how well the animals are cared for? And about needles, where do you get yours from, i find mine break a lot (that may just be me tho) Thanks so much again for this video, it has helped me so much!

      I personally prefer alpaca for newborn hair, fine mohair (kid or yearling) is a very close second. I have to be honest, I usually buy from Silk Effex and I have no idea what farm she gets her bulk fiber from. I do know though that animal health plays a huge part in the quality of their fiber, so when a place has consistently high quality fiber, free of lice, etc... it is a good indication that they have a good diet and are in good health.
      The absolute best needles I have ever found and are also super affordable. It's from Cupid Falls on Etsy. My favorites are their 42, 43 and 46g crown needles. I used to break needles so bad! I once bought a high end brand it was about $50 for 10 needles and I broke every single one in an hour! These needles are really strong, the one I'm currently rooting with Pickle with, she's the 9th baby I've rooted with this same needle. There can be some user error to cause needle breakage, like using a needle holder, which can cause the needle to bend and break, rooting too hard or without a deliberate angle. But needle quality makes a huge difference!
      One other thing to think about as well, alpaca is higher maintenance and not as easy to keep styled for collectors, it's used in more high end babies, but if I have a customer who I know frequently handles their babies, I'll use fine mohair instead or mix mohair and Alpaca so it's more durable and easier to manage.

      I tried Cupid Falls but they don't ship to Ireland 😭 do you have any 2nd choice suppliers?

    • @ebornsreborns
      @ebornsreborns  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @redroisin1 That's such a bummer! I'm not sure who ships to Ireland, but my 2nd choice brand is heavenly illusions. You can Google search them, they might have their own shop. But also they are sold at macphersoncrafts.com and irresistables.com. The ones I used to use are the pink and the black. They are not quite as strong, but if I couldn't get Cupid Falls needles anymore, that's what I would buy instead.
