    Peter was the complete attacker. Brilliant shooting technique and later an excellent midfielder. A gentleman on and off the pitch. Was a superstar in the 60-70s and would be today. Must be delighted his beloved Leeds are on the way back.

    Had the pleasure of meeting Peter in 1980 . He was coming off an injury and playing for the Toronto Blizzards reserve side against Koge from Denmark . Our club was playing a friendly against Koge the following week so we went to watch . Our team mate Tommy Henderson introduced us to him .

    Great guy and was lucky enough to see him play at his prime and at the end. Could still play well even in his late 30's. Bremner was Leeds greatest player and was almost Leeds United. Yet he wasn't a manager and he wasn't a coach. Did some really stupid things in his life and he was a bit of a coward. Never tried anything when he didn't have bigger guys to run behind.

      Don't think he was bitter. Just unhappy that Bremner didn't tell him why his career was over. I imagine Bremner didn't want to tell a friend and co-player the reason why but he should have done.

    • @eddyvideostar
      @eddyvideostar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To Steve Carl: Peter Lorimer was a legend and had a large leg, leading the league in long range licks. It was enigmatic how Bremner was taciturn regarding the conclusion of Lorimer's career. I believe it was the age aspect: Bremner probably wanted to take the team into another direction, installing more youth into the system. Management are usually obsessed with the future and try to tweak delicate aspects, which may subsequently loom large. I am guessing but if he were informed of the reason, Lorimer may have tried to correct the situation -- not really what Bremner would have wanted.

    • @eddyvideostar
      @eddyvideostar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Clive Bindley: _A large leg:_ letting me linger longer with the lilting alliterations. What I meant by this, was that he had the most powerful shot in the league, of which the speed, trajectory, and momentum would bemuse and bewilder any goalkeeper.

    • @eddyvideostar
      @eddyvideostar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To: Isleofskye: Yeah -- that would have been possible; but, then, as the time elapses, we tend to lose contact, not even the availability of each other, or their phone numbers, but the psychological aspect behind this: prolonging the perpetual procrastination. One does feel slightly uncomfortable, though, even under regular circumstance; but something as salient as this -- probably, he just wanted to let sleeping dogs lie.
      Even in my situation, I have many numbers of associates, co-workers, relatives, but wary and would feel odd regarding intruding into their busy lives after a long time -- especially, rehashing any negative aspect. To cap it off: calling up a boss who fired you! I don't think so. Not the proper psychological protocol.

    • @Isleofskye
      @Isleofskye ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddyvideostarSorry to intrude into your busy life and It may not be the ProperPsychological Protocol to Prolong Perpetual Procrastination so,II thought I would leave it for 4 years before replying..
      I meant that Peter should have asked immediately and,in this case, given they were friends and teammates,I don't think it unreasonable for Peter to ask why he was fired.

    Leeds fans remembering the old times clogging their opponents to death, only to be perennial runners up. Aye! They will be crying into their methylated spirits and Frosty Jack's at the memories of the failures of yesteryear. But it's something to take comfort in as they sleep on the park benches of Beeston, Middleton, Belle End, Gipton, Seacroft, Harehills and Halton Moor et al, eagerly awaiting their i-movo DSS payments.
