Because some policies of state and availability of resources in society can cause poverty upon individuals , then greater poverty rates among individuals hampers the growth of society .
Because normally we would say that 'x' is poor as he is lazy. But we, as sociologists, will find out the actual reason behind her/his poverty. As in, is there unemployment, is he/she from a backward class or just lack of opportunities.
