I had a friend. The family owned a horse business with small cottage for rent. She was taking care of the horses, teaching the kids how to ride, taking care of the renting property. No life, just working 24/7. After like 10 years her father left everything in the hands of her younger brother. She was furious, packed her bags and left for Australia. One year later the business was in big trouble, two years they went bankrupt. She got married and opened her own business and is NC with her family. 😢

Sweetie, this is a made-up story, remember that! I love reading them, don't you? But they're not real! Writers, scriptwriters get paid for these stories, and the Internet (MSN) gets big bucks from the ads, Just like those old soap operas on tv when our moms were watching! Made-up story!

Her father would have just given it back to his son once she fixed everything.

Yup, that company was doomed either way because of her father’s tradition.

Should have acquired the assets at bankruptcy. Your new business card could read "Chen Global a Morton international Company - Alice Chen CEO"

When family are treating you badly, you don't have to tell yes to bail them out. JUST SAY NO.

Company is in the garbage and she can come back and name her salary? Who's going to pay it?

It isn't fair to OP to make her put her plans on hold so she can teach Tommy how to run the family business, then split it 50/50 with Tommy, who doesn't WANT TO limit his spending.

Including Tommy? Dad made her CEO, that means she's in charge, not him. Tommy should have been fired on the spot. Dad also lied to her to get her to cancel going to Goldmann-Sachs.

I'm guessing this is Japan or somewhere similar, where gender is valued over ability. What Alice's father did was a total betrayal of his delaration that the company would be shared 50/50 between brother and sister. Parents who blatantly favour one child over another do not deserve to be called parents. It is true, that sometimes one child appeals more than the other to a parent, usually the mother, but you just have to try harder, if you have any sense of integrity, to be fair to both. I am glad that the awful Tommy brought the company to bankruptcy. It served that dastardly family right.

If OP is supposed to take over her father's failing business, I hope they at least limit Tommy's access to the business's money and other assets.

Tommy knows how to use company money to cover his own expenses.

Or never gave it to Tommy in the first place. You let Tommy get expensive life style. You gave him way more than me. I worked hard. Saving the company once. You screwed me. If I came to save it again, you would let Tommy ruin it again.

Before I left, I would have told my dad and all his business people when he brings the company to the ground, don't come to me to fix it! You all have been warned! I have made this business what it is. You and Tommy are shitty business men. I'm not cleaning up you messes anymore! You can't use me and throw me away then beg me to come fix it. You called me jealous and selfish. You should have thought about this before. YOU and TOMMY let this company tank.

"I" is the first person singular pronoun. It does NOT mean "one".

Version number ???? It appears that her father, then her brother was the only owner. Calling it the "family business" could be wrong. When she took the connn, she should have done it on the condition that she first get about 10% ownership. The whining relatives might of had some financial stake.

The story is good, the narrator, however, either an AI genersted voice or a human reading, is not good. Is it an Asian person speaking English? I believe it's a robotic voice. Annoying. But, as I said, good story.
