It cannot be understated just how much Peanuts changed the game, not just for comic strips, but for child-centric storytelling as a whole. The positioning of childhood not as a wholly whimsical or idyllic experience, but as a deeply alienating and confusing time period in which you have little understanding, control, or authority over the world around you has paved the way for SO many great stories, Boondocks included. Cant wait to finish the vid!
One of The Boondocks comic strips I can always easily remember is Huey tossing the comic strip section of a newspaper over Riley’s face after the latter had just been subjected to the old Lucy pulling the football away gag by Cindy.
Now that I'm older, I appreciate the slow melancholic vibe of the first season, the only other animated show coming close to that Peanuts feel was "Hey Arnold" Like we need more vibe shows
On its best day, I really like Season One's slower energy. I think... and I recorded a tierlist video for Season One recently where I'll get into this, sometimes it can come off as awkward though? And, I can see how it wouldn't resonate with everyone.
I feel like Bob's Burgers feels a little bit like Peanuts. The humor being deadpan, the characters often not winning, the characters often getting bittersweet endings, and it being really dumb sometimes.
I wonder how differently the show would've turned out if it was able to just be that series that pops up with a special every now and then instead of a long running show.
Finally my brother is back congrats welcome back looking foward for more content soon words of huey freeman "I want my people to be free! I will enlighten the masses! My voice will ring out the across the globe and make a diffrence!" good to have you back man.
I honestly never thought about the influence from peanuts other than the christmas special and the comic until now, thats really interesting. The ideas that make up The Boondocks, end up making it very unique, and Aaron being such a great creative, i hope he can continue to speak his mind through his work the way he intends to for long term. Also, have you ever noticed that some people have misinterpreted the show over the years, thinking that it was just an edgy black adult cartoon for the sake of it? Thats especially true for some people who watched it at a younger age, and never knew it was more than that. I know someone who watched it at a young age, claiming that show made them use ironic racist humor, even up to being an adult.
Peanuts is one of my favorate comic strips next to Calvin and Hobbes. It's insanely funny. Alot of the strips have me rolling on the floor. The Peanuts Movie got me hooked on the Peanuts franchise. After watching it I bought the daily calendar and I get them every year. I read them most days on the go comics website. I am trying to collect every strip ever and I am close to completing that. I have seen most of the specials. Its a very fun strip. I like how the humor is very deadpan. I like how its a little subversive compared to most cartoons aimed at a family audience. The main characters are often unlucky and don't win. Most would be a bit more sanitized. I like how the characters feel so real. In some cartoons the characters are based on stereotypes the peanuts characters don't really fit in a box and are 3 dimensional.
Taking my time with it. I want to build this channel up abit more this year before I go full-throttle with it. Sometimes my problem is that I try to tackle too many times at once, it's an ADHD thing, so I wanna make sure when I do get that going proper, it's legit and can work well for people. I ran into this problem with the Foodbank where working on the game really took my focus away from it. I don't want that to happen with this, so I'm taking more time with it to develop it further.
i wish i could write a book or a game there are so many great black revolutionaries who are not American that I would put in my game not the actual person but characters based on them Cecile Fatiman, look her up Haitian revolution Maria del valle, black Argentine freedom fighter look her up Cecila Cruz afro cuban singer queen nanny, leader of the Maroons Jamaican freedom fighter Dr. Frances Cress Welsing american cheikh anta diop senegal Patrice i would have a scene were a Neil Degrass Tyson-type is talking to cheikh about science Neil being an American caribbean and Che being african but reimagined as a London Caribbean and a che as a London african in a science lecture discussing whatever topic probably evolution you have bob Marley like talking to 2 pac about music it would be an awesome world that would make you want to explore it for the references also get in the british legends darcus a conversation between Rosa Parks and Claudia Jones a young MLK talking about Gaza in a British accent lol i want that game
Im getting serious AI vibes from the whole video and it's writing, not just the voice. Repeating the same quote at :18 and at 2:40. The rest of video feels like a bunch of disjointed and unrelated points.
@@bp6942 There’s something to be said about how the influx of AI content has changed the way we engage with and consume media to the point of the continuous skepticism and disillusionment to what we’re consuming. Obvs I don’t blame anyone for viewing media this way now but it is fascinating. A lot of what I’m reading throughout this video is quotes from Aaron regarding how he felt to The Peanuts and how inspired he was by it. Maybe that’s contributes to why it feels that way?
@@bp6942 I don't hear it, I can pick up the enthusiasm in the reading with the lines he really gets into. You can also hear the lip smacks and tongue clacks, which I haven't heard AI replicate.
@ It can replicate those. I am certainly not saying I know for sure. But its been something that has been hanging in the back of my mind. The repeating of the same quote twice in the same video is one of the biggest red flags, and wasnt mentioned in the response to me by the channel, which seemed a bit disjointed as well. Also, content farms using AI for the scripts do hire real voice actors, per the Ceric Artman channel and that all getting outed in the South Park youtube space. Oh well.

The extent to which Aaron cites The Peanuts as his primary influence and inspiration makes it really clear how much he values and rates the series.

@ Read the June 21, 1964 strip on Go comics.

The first Boondocks book features a dedication to Sparky.
Peanuts really might be one of the most influential cartoons/comic strips ever. . .
Hey Arnold is also heavily inspired by Peanuts as well!
New heat from Storyteller means it's a good day even if I got rained on heavy😌

Thanks 😊
came back to 2025 to talk about peanuts connected to boondocks, you must be starting over lmao
Seems pretty obvious at least from the comic strip
Not a political person but love the boondocks and the peanut comics I love comics love this video ❤❤❤❤
This is probably my least political video.
i wish i could write a book or a game
there are so many great black revolutionaries who are not American that I would put in my game
not the actual person but characters based on them
Cecile Fatiman, look her up
Haitian revolution
Maria del valle, black Argentine
freedom fighter look her up
Cecila Cruz afro cuban singer
queen nanny, leader of the Maroons
Jamaican freedom fighter
Dr. Frances Cress Welsing
american
cheikh anta diop
senegal
Patrice
i would have a scene were a Neil Degrass Tyson-type is talking to cheikh about science
Neil being an American caribbean and Che being african but reimagined as a London Caribbean and a che as a London african in a science lecture discussing whatever topic
probably evolution
you have bob Marley like talking to 2 pac about music
it would be an awesome world that would make you want to explore it for the references
also get in the british legends
darcus
a conversation between Rosa Parks and Claudia Jones
a young MLK talking about Gaza in a British accent lol
i want that game
banger video
is this an AI voice?
