Repair bear! I like it
Yeah, my new segment ð
5:34 It's a "Mode Switch" on to 100% reason because so I was have a Main Funai's formerly distribution but without HDD combo recorder as WD6D-M100 if about of a Quickly Ejecting without correct sets.
Thank you for your advice. Do you know how to get to the mode switch? Is it difficult to fix?
I repaired a unit like this and now everything works perfectly just needed to clean the mode switch
Thank you, looks like the mode switch is a common problem for these VCRs. So great to get this advice. The next time Iâm at my parents place, I know what to do if the noise problem persists.
That model is likely made by Funai as they made similar units for almost all brands towards the end of the VHS era. A couple of things to check:
1. The Mode Switch. Most likely this will be found underneath the tape mechanism. If you are lucky it's one you can easily (gently) pry the top off then thoroughly clean the pads with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swap. The top that you prised off will contain small metal contacts, clean these too VERY carefully following the direction of the pads. If you are unlucky it might be one of the models where the Mode Switch is soldered together on the motherboard, not hard if you have a soldering iron but a bit of a pain.
2. If cleaning the mode switch doesn't work it might be a problem with the gears, check them carefully once you have the tape unit out to check none are broken or split. If they are fine then check the alignment of the gears, each gear will have a small mark that lines up with a small mark on another gear. These marks are usually tiny arrows or tiny holes that match up.
Might be worth checking out some of Probnot's Tech videos here on TH-cam. He has repaired many of these types of units, also 12voltvids who has also repaired many, many VHS machines over the years.
Thank you for this detailed and useful advice!

Thank you. I would like to learn how to fix it, so I will do some research. If I do more damage in my attempt to fix it, no one would be angry at me, nothing to loose :)
